We had seen the huts a few years ago coming into Bang Bao and admired them.
This time we thought we would look them up and stay. We were thrilled with the hut, lovely standard and very clean. We even enjoyed the decent pillows after a week or so of what felt like wooden blocks!
It is fabulous for couples wanting to chill out, enjoy the jetty village in a bit of luxury.
Breakfast was served to our hut to eat outside and enjoy the view, again is was excellent.
The price was 2200bht for the night and if we didn't have plans we would look to stay longer.
Well worth the money and we will definitely come back here.

Beautiful Place what a Jem !!!! Lek the receptionist was so delightful and helpful. We stayed in one of the Maldives Bungalows. How romantic was the setting. Wooden Floors and Furniture. Delightful sunsets with the ripple of the water surrounding you and the fish jumping. Stayed there 9 nights. Breakfast delivered every morning. Cant wait to go back. Free WiFi in the Bungalow.

if you are looking for cheap and cheerful this is the place to stay, from £10 per night for a big room with tv and fridge, some rooms have great sea views if you are lucky, spotlessly clean, front apartments can be a bit noisy due to traffic but if you get one out the back of building you can hear a pin drop! restaurant overlooking sea is excellent or if on a budget turn right at reception and visit Mol's kitchen 20m away for a real thai experience with excellent food, very cheap and Mol is a lovely person that can't do enough for you.

"Are you happy?" the owner asked us as we walked out to dinner in the balmy night breeze, "Because I am very happy." My heart melted. I wanted to love this hotel, with its charming hotel owner, rare Maldives style over-the-water-bungalow, classy decor, and attentive service. But all was not perfect in paradise.

When we arrived, we were so excited to find this literally-hidden gem. There is one sign 500 m down the road that advertises the hotel, and after that, you are on your own finding it. It's all the way at the end of the pier, a fair ways down the right hand side of a narrow dock/corridor marked with an empty green sign. We were happily surprised to find that our reservation had been kept despite the fact that there was no payment accepted or required and no written confirmation of any kind, and were promptly shown to our room.

The room was much smaller than imagined, and quite rustic, with a slightly angled wooden floor, walls and roof. There was a small enclosed wooden closet to place our clothing and that was it for storage space, so we placed our bags on the floor, a mistake as we discovered later on.

We checked out the bathroom and to our dismay it was open to the elements - mosquitoes, rain and all (though it seems that this is the case in many inexpensive Thai hotels, this hotel is far from inexpensive). The shower pressure was good and the temperature was hot, the toilet worked fairly well, and the shampoo and soap were of higher quality than usual, dispensed from the large wall dispensers. Of course, when anyone takes a shower, the entire bathroom is soaked. Also, the sink is in the bedroom on the opposite side of the room, and the mirror is outside on the wall. Not the most convenient arrangement imaginable.

There is a television and a mini bar with two complimentary water bottles. The bed is quite comfortable with a good mosquito net. We heard rumors that other rooms had windows to the sea in the floor, but ours didn't, despite being the most pricey outer-ring bungalow.

We sat in the luxuriously comfortable cushioned chaise lounge on our balcony and watched the sun set, where they informed us that swimming is ill advised as the water is polluted - they offer a free boat to the beach for this reason, but it was part of the over-the-water bungalow fantasy. A little disappointed, we then had dinner at an incredible fish restaurant recommended by the owner (amazing!). Then it started to pour rain.

Our walk back was very wet, and when we arrived at the hotel, no lights were on so it was a treacherous walk back to the room in the dark. When we got back to our room, water had leaked onto the floor, narrowly missing our bags containing electronics. The bathroom was soaked. The wi-fi wasn't working. We were not thrilled. Eventually the wi-fi worked and the room dried out, they turned the lights on the pathway for us and we went to sleep. In the morning we awoke to loud, annoying music (radio?) from unknown origins. Granted it was past 9 am but still... we decided to check out after just one night.

They served us breakfast on the porch which was included in the 2500 baht price. It was very nicely done. When we packed up and brought our bags to the front, the owner didn't seem surprised. We said we were checking out early and he said "No problem." When I mentioned the leaking, just in case it was something he wanted to fix, he shrugged indifferently and said, "I know." And therein lies the reason why I can't recommend this hotel, even though I gave it 4 stars. For 2500 baht per night, there are better options. Though none this unique.

So check it out if you're curious, but be aware of what you're getting into.

I literally didn't know what to expect when I arrived at this resort. I come to find out that it is charming, clean, and has great customer service. Truly, this place is a hidden treasure. Apparently, guests can stay in either the bungalows or the rooms in the main building. Stay and chill around the area or ask if you can take any of their boats to another part of the island and enjoy Thai massages and local bars and beaches. If you like a contemporary, rustic feel, this is the place fore you. I am definitely coming back here again! P.S. WiFi is free!

This place was just perfect I booked on line but was worried when I heard from a koh chang source that the seanhuts were illegal and due to be demolished although the agent reassured us not to worry ..I did..... however on arrival which was daunting intself as a Mini bus dropped us at the start of a long and rickety pier and told is it's Down there you have to walk ..we dragged our trolley cases ( essential) down dark passages selling dried fish, past mangy dogs and Buddha like sleeping children we worried that maybe they had been demolished then I recognized a small sign and we took a right turn tom find our huts which were turquoise as the bay. The sea huts were charming and the staff Were telepathic to our needs nothing needed to be Asked for it just appeared , even the surly boat man who takes you to the beach had a toothy smile for us in the end. We felt a real pang of sorrow on leaving and hope that the charming concierge will continue to have his employment in years to come and not have his life demolished with the huts

If you want a relaxing stay in a charming place, surrounded by Thai people rather than only other tourists this is the place for you. But, this is not a resort and it is not party central. If these are what you want this is not the place or the pace for you. While your bungalow, which is perched on stilts above the water, is very private, especially in the outer ring where we stayed, you are actually staying in a village. One built on water! You are not confined to your resort and all the shopping and restaurants (absolutely excellent seafood and authentic Thai food) you need are but a short stroll down a maze of connecting boardwalks. A small sedate sandy beach with several restaurants and bars are a short, free boat trip across the bay. Your balcony is the perfect place for breakfast (served at your preferred time), lazing on a sunbed with a book or having a pre-dinner drink or two as the sun sets gloriously in the background. Highly recommended!
