“Lovely Lagoon View”
Reviewed 9 May 2013 via mobile

I stayed here for a week on a recent trip to Koh Chang. The rooms facing the lagoon are lovely and each has different amenities. For 800 Baht, I splurged on having a fridge and kettle for a few of the nights. Reservations are necessary if you want the lagoon rooms. The more expensive, air- conditioned rooms don't seem worth the extra cost, though 600-800 is kind of pricey, but Koh Chang is more expensive than other islands ( eg. Lanta, Tao, Phangan). It seemed on par with Koh Samui in pricing from my experience as a person who likes backpacker prices, but not the usual type of accommodation that comes with these prices. I didn't eat at the restaurant, though I did wait for 30 minutes, hoping someone would ask me if I'd like to order something. Perhaps I needed to be a little more assertive.

The reception area is nice and is where you'll get your wifi fix. They also have a kettle with coffee and tea on offer along with purified water. The views are absolutely stunning. Not a party place. Beautifully quiet, except if there is some big party happening elsewhere. The fan usually drowns out the noise, but then I am sensitive this way and go nowhere without earplugs and the hope that my travelling neighbours are mindful (which they usually are).

Nice place. Service is good. Mosquito coils and repellent are essential. Did I mention the views?

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE END OF THIS... Got the bungalow facing the water, one of us loved it but the other hates Mosquitos and bugs. And this place is some kind of breeding ground. We had to spray the room massively before leaving for dinner each night.. We ate at the restaurant, pretty good food. Service definitely lacks not only in restaurant but overall found staff extremely unhelpful. Access to the beach is good but in terms of beaches the sand is not the nicest and water is littered with reef so you get cuts on your feet all the time. We visited white sand beach and found the beach to be great, a lot nicer and still not as over crowded as we expected.

Now that I have this out of the way... Some money went missing from our bags whilst at this hotel. We were unable to ascertain exactly where it was as the cleaner who coincidently cleaned our room that day (rooms are only cleaned once every three days) obviously claimed it was not her. Obviously fuming we took it up with the hotel. They basically accused us of lying and said no police could come as it was their new year. Made it extremely difficult but basically no guest deserves to be treated like that.

All of the previous reviews about this place make reference to the amazing service, which is why we chose it. It couldn't be further from the truth. I feel that perhaps this property was once amazing and these days it is far from these glory days.

Overall, the place was fine but under no circumstances could you stay at a place where your money was helped to, and when taken up you treated in a way that makes you think it is your fault.

Completely atrocious.

You are also "black listed" in some resort of Koh Chang too. There are some limits you cannot exceed . You can not attack and disrespect some people without legitimate reasons. Thai people are nice and friendly but they are not magicians. The team is the same since 2 years, the room maid could have so much opportunities to still somethings in the rooms...but you are the first one having troubles like this. One of the rules of the resort is " We didn’t have any thief in the past but maybe one day it will happen, so don t forget you are responsible of your belongings."
It happened sometimes in others place, that's why we prefer to tell you before, even it is first time for us. We cannot control every people of the island and have some cops on the property...
The tourist police came, everybody try to solve the problem, it is not under our responsability to investigate on the island, we trust our staff 100% ...particulary when the tourist police found some money hidden in a book that you forgot. The cops say you lie and try to get money from your insurance, we have no opinions.
To finish, it is unfair to use public trip advisor system to falsely accuse our team and destroy reputation of our resort.
Indeed, customers like you go to white sand beach and that's why we have no problem.

We wanted to stay at Blue Lagoon but there wasn't room - book in advance if you want to stay in high season.

However we visited the restaurant several times - the food was very tasty and the setting, right on the lagoon, is lovely. The mango sticky rice (one of the only places that did it on Koh Chang we could find) was excellent!

Stayed here a year ago with my boyfriend. We had an amazing stay. The bungalows are not fancy, but thet are very cozy. Especially if you get one facing the lagoon, with a bamboo hammock. The area is very cozy, and the staff very friendly. They helped us with everything from laundry, renting a scooter, busstickets, trekking. The restaurant is the best on the island. Breakfast and dinner is equally great! I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, clean, and cosy place to stay. Great value too!

Room Tip: Get one facing the lagoon!

I have been on Koh Chang several times, but Blue Lagoon is definitely the best and most friendly place to stay. The owner Yaa is the most wonderful and warm woman and the staff is so friendly and nice. The resort is overlooking a very nice lagoon and very close to the beach. It is a very peaceful place with lots of space. The restaurant is one of the best of the Island and also known for their great Cooking classes. The bungalows are very nice decorated, clean and have a nice terrace with a hammed and have a great view at the lagoon. The atmosphere is great. I stayed for almost 3 weeks and loved every day. Yaa and the staff gave me the feeling that I was part of the Blue Lagoon family. I love them all. I miss them and I will certainly come back.

Room Tip: The bungalows overlooking the Lagoon are great

At first we stayed in their rooms for 2000 bath (peak season) standard room across the street. The rooms were smelly and not so nice so we moved to a deluxe room on the beach and they were great. Both interior and exterior were nice and the rooms clean and fresh. We also stayed in one of their beachfront bungalows, and they were awsome. Well worth every bath. I can defintely recommend this place and go back there some day.

We (3 adults, one baby) very much enjoyed our stay at Blue Lagoon. The place is close to the beach, 50 meter walk and in walking distance to the shops and restaurants at main road. We have stayed at several places before on Ko Chang and were persuaded by the , even for Thai standards, exceptional friendliness and weloming of the staff. This refers to the lovely ladies at the reception, to the cleaning lady, the gardener, the owner and particularly the restaurant staff. You feel that everybody that works in the place identifies himself with it.
We were looking for a place to stay with a baby, therefor we appreciated the garden, the sand playground and the welcoming family atmosphere. The Restaurant is really good and the rooms are nicely decorated. I am German so there is always something to complain, but afterall this is Thailand and Joe the owner told me that many things are being done or planned. For example new curtains as the old ones are beautiful but not really keeping out light. There is always a nice breeze on the Lagoon which makes a really nice climate and again for Thai standards the lagoon is very clean.
After a few so-so experiences on Ko Chang Blue Lagoon made us love the Island!
