It has been the fourth year that we have stayed In Paradise Resort and this year we have noticed bigger changes than the past years.

We had a Deluxe Bungalow which has been renovated. The decoration is more modern with nice fresh flowers. The bed is still very big. Some people may find it a bit hard but we prefer it like that.
The biggest change was in the air conditioning which is now better, more efficient and more quiet than the past years. In addition there is a fan on top of the bed if you prefer. But remember to turn on the AC to get hot water!
The bathroom looks much better now and it's still big, with a shower and a bathtub.
The room was cleaned everyday and the bed sheets changed when we wanted (remember to place the "change the sheet" card on the bed).

The staff is still very helpful and speaking well English.

There is still a big choice for the breakfast, with Thai and Continental food.

The restaurant is serving good grilled or "à la carte" food and if you have a special request you can ask for it, they will do their best to please you. We wanted to taste Thai lobsters which are not in the menu. We just asked 2 days before if it would be possible to have some and we got them. The Chef is excellent! We have read that she has won few Thai cuisine competitions.
You have to remember that Paradise guests have 10% of discount at the restaurant which makes it cheaper than the others around.

There is a good policy in this Resort concerning the pool and beach chairs booking. Before 9Am it's forbidden to book any chair and this is great! We have been in some other hotels where people are waking up very early to book the best places. It becomes a race and your holidays turn to a wake-up competition and may be spoiled because of that.
In Paradise, you don't have to worry about that. Of course there are stupid people who don't want to understand and early in the morning book few chairs with their towels to in fact come much later. The staff is taking care of that and removing all towels or other stuff on all booked chairs until 9AM. People get mad but if there are not happy, they can go to other resorts and use the ugly and dirty plastic camping chairs.

If you have the smallest problem in your room, it can happen, contact immediately the reception, they will hurry to solve it.

Internet is now free of charge. When we arrived they were installing a new WLAN network. It didn't work well the first days but after few adjustment it was fine, the speed and signal were correct.

We agree with everybody saying that Paradise is like Heaven. It's a real Paradise!

The Spa is very relaxing, the staff is well trained and they offer very good treatments or massages.

The gardeners are taking a big care of the plants and walking between the bungalows looks like visiting a natural park.

For sure we will come back to Paradise. The bungalow was very good, the staff very nice, and the location is excellent. Klong Prao beach is very quiet and only at few meters from your bungalow. It's pleasant to be able to go to the pool, then to the beach without thinking of taxi or a long walk. I could say that the pool is at less than 20 meters from the beach.

My wife and I have just returned from our first visit to Thailand. After a week of smoggy Bangkok and smoky Chiang Mai we thought we'd be OK to spend a week chilling out on Koh Chang. We also thought we'd be able to 'get away with' cheap, backpacker-type accommodation as we really only wanted to relax on the beach. How wrong you can be. With a combined age of well over 100 and many years of holidaying together under our belt it seems that we can no longer 'rough it'. We can't manage without our little luxuries any more. One night sweating under a fan and we were desperately looking around for somewhere better to stay. That's when we stumbled across the Koh Chang Paradise Resort. One room left for the 6 nights we needed, monstrously over our budget for the week (we eventually settled at 4000 Baht/night I think) but the room looked lovely - so we bought it.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we could not fault this resort. We discussed together whether there was anything that could have made the week better. The only thing we could come up with was that the sea water wasn't quite as clear as we'd have liked. We didn't think the staff were really to be held responsible for this though.
Our bungalow was number A6. It's one of their older ones, being around 10 years old. It stands on the front row, less than 30 paces from the door to the beach. It's a long way from the reception, restaurant and pool areas - perfect for us but maybe not for everyone. The room itself does look a little dated I guess but we felt this added to the charm. There's a lot of varnished woodwork and a very quirky big shower room with plants etc. The bed was massive and very comfortable and from it you can see the dawn break over the sand. The air con worked a treat, sometimes a little too well but that was down to my not figuring out the remote control. There's a safe that's simple to operate so you don't have to worry about leaving the room unlocked when at the beach.
The resort was immaculately tidy. There wasn't a hint of litter anywhere and it was obvious that the staff take some pride in the outdoor environment they provide. I would be out running before 6 most mornings and already staff were sweeping paths, emptying litter bins, tidying up the beach! Attention to the plants and flowers also makes the place feel great. On a few occasions we watched as the head gardener (?) and his staff pruned and trimmed large palm trees etc. You can tell from the look of the resort that they've always had this eye for detail as the planting has a mature feel. Someone on here commented in the past that the resort was full of bugs. Amazing! It's an island in the tropics and the resort is full of lush and beautiful vegetation - bugs, really? The bugs were great. They provided food for the large numbers of lizards, frogs etc. Not to mention the geckos which provide entertainment around the veranda lamp each evening. There are also lots of enormous snails.
We normally eat out a lot and rarely use our hotel other than at breakfast when holidaying. This first meal of the day was excellent at Paradise. There was an enormous range of stuff on offer. To an Englishman abroad some of it can seem a little weird but hey, if you like spaghetti carbonara in the morning, or a plate of curry, then fine by me. The friendly chef on duty each morning soon got used to frying me two eggs, sunny side up and plonking them directly onto the twice toasted brown bread I set before him. Only one broken yolk in the whole week! He also makes a lovely omelette to order, so my wife tells me. We experimented with a few other places to eat nearby. Some good street food in outside the VJ shopping complex, especially the banana roti man. On the whole though we reckoned the Paradise provided a good range of food at a sensible, if not cheap, price. The green curry reduced me to tears more than once. Two rare T-bone steaks with fries and a large salad for about £15. C'mon, where can you get that in Blighty?
Staff manning reception have varying degrees of competency with regard to the English language but all are considerably more fluent than I am in Thai and so I can't fault that. Each morning you pick up fresh beach towels from them. In the evening you just leave them on your veranda and someone picks them up. They even leave a little note to let you know they called.
Mrs 'Smiles all of the time lady' (sorry didn't catch your name) in the small shop by reception is fabulous. She is permanently happy and always ready to help. She sorted a boat trip and scooter for us and nothing was ever too much trouble.
We both agree that our week at the Koh Chang Paradise Resort was the most relaxing time we have ever spent anywhere. The bungalow was perfect for our needs and the resort lived up to our every expectation. We are a bit ambivalent about Thailand as a holiday but if we did go back to Koh Chang we would definitely book bungalow A6 once again.
If you're looking for relaxation in a beautiful environment then look no further.

Room Tip: Pick a beach front room and don't hesitate to take on of the older ones - they're great. We...

My girlfriend and i stayed in the Pool Villa. As a couple looking for a romantic and relaxed atmosphere we couldn't go past the Koh Chang Paradise.
The restaurant on the beach was a sensational setting with fire performers on most evenings for a little entertainment.
The food was lovely.
The beach itself was beautiful, calm and clear with fantastic views. Beach walks were a must.
There is a small shopping precint complete with supermarket, souvenirs and massage shops within walking distance. If you wanted some night life action or more shops then it was a 5 minute taxi ride into the White Sands Beach area.
The staff were friendly.
No complaints with the pool villa. The jacuzzi does not have its own on/off switch and had to be requested to be turned on and off via reception.
The pool and jacuzzi were clean.
Overall, we had a very relaxing and romantic holiday together.

Room Tip: The pool villa came with wifi but i believe the other rooms do not get wifi.

I'm actually writing this from my villa pool. I don't think I have ever been more chilled out. My jaw dropped when I saw our villa. It's magnificent. Total private, I can't hear a peep out of other guests. I looked at the negative comments from other reviewers and most seem to be just spiteful and unjustified. Staff are great! Breakfast is fine (it's not Las Vegas people, get a grip). Room service and mini bar are very reasonably priced. I would describe this resort and the whole of Koh Chang as sleepy. Come here to relax, if you want to party and stay up late go somewhere else.

I paid a lot of money for this place but I feel satisfied it worth it. Treat yourself to a private pool villa and you will struggle find a bad word!

We stayed over Christmas and New Years 2012 and had a wonderful relaxed vacation. The resort is placed at the beach and has a beautiful garden with big trees creating pockets of shade. Nice swimming pool and a restaurant that serve good Thai food. People are helpful and service minded. Definitively a place we can recommend and might consider to visit again.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the road should be avoided due to traffic noise

We were walk-ins. Phoned in advance when at Trat airport and told we have rooms.

When arrived we were quoted 4,130 THB for one night inc breakfast.

Apparently cheaper to book online first.

We had just arrived to Koh Chang from Bangkok so accepted but this was expensive even compared to some city hotels.

Bungalow was by the road, it was clean and secure. Pretty standard really now we have more resorts to compare to.

We were told the air con is connected to the hot water. So ensure your air con is on freezing before you want a warm shower.
This didn't bother us but for the price paud no other resorts had this problem.

Went for a walk along the large beach and stopped off at other resorts to get an understanding of prices and accomadation quality.

There are cheaper and just as nice all along the same beach within 5 mins of each other.

Breakfast was fine with friendly staff.

Wifi only available in the lobby at no fee. If you wanted the pleasure in your room there was a supliment....... Please I just paid 4,130 for one night. Wifi is a basic. Don't be greedy!

Lunch was average with staff that couldn't be less interested. Eat in the famiy run restaurants along the beach. Cheaper, better service and atmosphere.

We decided to stay at the Chai Chet resort 5 mins along the beach had a deluxe beach front villa which was 3 times the size for 3,400 THB per night. Fast free wifi everywhere! Highly reccomend this resort.

I think Paradise resort might have "lost the paradise" and become more Russian package holiday orientated.

Surat S, General Manager at Koh Chang Paradise Resort & Spa, responded to this reviewResponded 2 February 2013

Thank you very much for the comments on our resort. The price that the clients had is a walk in price which is the same rate as in many website only that they might not knows that some online agents will show only the room rate before VAT and Service charge, this is why they see that the price is much cheaper than our rates at walk in. Although the prices are also depends on how soon they reserved the rooms. The clients has arrived the resort by airport limousine without reservation, after checking the price from many resorts before dropped at our resort , and unfortunately we only have room that close to the road but just a short walk from the room to the beach and to our facilities like reception, restaurant and swimming pool. After the confirmation of room rate the GSA officer have shown them the room if they accept the price and the location of room then they agreed to stay 1 night and will decide the other nights tomorrow . We honored their decision in choosing hotel if they think our price is expensive and go away to stay another resort but they are not. And most of all, they decided to stay another night at our resort before moved to anywhere else. It is a little bit unfair for us that the resort they have compared us with doesn't have sandy beach like us but it is a stones & rocks. Of course their prices must be cheaper than us. In this case we would recommend them to compare us with the other resorts that also have the same sandy beach and similar quality.

We respect in the dining taste of our guests as some guests taste is not the same and also the atmosphere of dining place. Some guests like to have their meals outside at the local restaurant with simple decorating or adventure place and some guests like to have their meals at our restaurant because of the sea view and also the quality of food and cleanliness.

About the Wifi Internet of course we already informed the clients that we offer free Wifi at our lobby area. We do understand that free Wifi Internet is important to the hotel guests in nowadays. Therefore, we thank you for comment on this. Unfortunately at the time of their stay we were on the process in making free Wifi and now it has been ready since the 1st of February 2013. Before that time if guests want to use Wifi in rooms which is still belong to the outside company they have to pay for it as we have to rent the line from our internet partner while we are getting overall free Wifi to be ready to use.

About our Russian guests they are the same as normal tourists but some different is that some of them booked through Russian agencies that is all, as they could not communicate in English very well. And all of our Russian guests are a high and good quality and high paying target group that could have average staying at our resort for 7 days or more. Our resort welcome guests from all over the world which no matter what their nationalities are and we accepted all booking whenever we have available rooms to accommodate them. Every hotels and resorts would have to do the same for their survival and to stay in good condition. This is the reason why we could not choose clients by countries or nationalities to stay at our resort. We cannot just wait for the clients from European, American, or Scandinavian, etc. to book our rooms as the resort have to run business. But we are also lucky that almost of the Russian guests in our resort are high educated, nice and good personalities. In nowadays Russian tourists are everywhere and in all beach destination of Thailand. This is something we cannot control unless we stop ourselves from going anywhere that have Russian tourists. Please open your mind!
