This was our 3rd visit to the K.B., so that in itself should tell you something. We love it! Though the restaurant and lobby have been recently renovated and are a little to modern for our own taste, the rest of the grounds are still charming, beautifully landscaped, clean and all around delightful! We stayed in a "Sea View" room, expecting to be able to see the sea from a distance, but in fact we had a perfect view of the sea, only about 15 meters from our front porch! The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, the beach is nice and quiet. It was, as it has been in our previous two visits, a perfect vacation spot for our family. My only negative comment would be about the massage I had on the beach. Both my friend and I had massages that were simply awful...much too rough, and more of a torture session than a relaxing experience. We did later have fantastic massages at the pool, so we can heartily endorse them there. I would not hesitate to visit the K.B. again, and have repeatedly recommended it to my friends! You won't regret a stay there!

I recently stayed at this resort with my boyfriend for 3 nights. Although this time we didn't travel with our kids, we are both parents of small kids, and at the age where we prefer to relax and unwind rather than hit the clubs all night. Kae Bae was the perfect beach, and this was the perfect hotel for that.

We stayed in a Garden Bungalow, I think #2, which is right on the sand. The downside is that you need to keep your curtains closed for privacy when you are home, because people are walking right in front of your cabin. This didn't bother us. It came with a great little deck, and we would walk to 7-11 every night for a few beers, and drink them on our porch watching the subset. Buy mosquito coils and repellent while you're at 7-11, and this is great!

The biggest downside to to whole beachfront thing is the wild dogs that prowl the area, especially at night. Which means you can't really sit on the sand in peace. A few dogs are nice. The black one is nasty. If you bring kids, PLEASE read the signs, and do not feed or play with the dogs. I can't understand why I saw parents every single day allowing their kids to play with these feral dogs. I also saw 3 people get attacked or lurched at in 3 days. Don't let it be a child!

The room is perfectly nice, everything as expected from the photos. As in ALL tropical areas, especially beachside, ants are a problem if you have food in your room. Be clean and careful, and I didn't find them to be a problem. It's thailand, that's just how it is.

The tv had some tricky aspects, but it was really nice to have. There's about 300 channels, no joke. Somewhere way up high in the 260's or so is an English language movie channel. Nice way to pass the evenings after we finished with beers and dogs.

Breakfast is standard "good" for Thailand. I don't think I've ever had an amazing breakfast in Thailand, per western standards. But there's plenty of selection, and coffee. It was just fine. And the location for breakfast is beautiful, very pleasant. A jungle gym is right next to it. This is a great resort for kids, particularly if they are semi-independent, like 8 yrs plus. Very small and safe for them to wander briefly while parents have a coffee.

The hotel has a beachfront restaurant. Like all hotel restaurants, especially with a view, the food is so-so for the price. There is a seafood restaurant near 7-11 that is wonderful!

There was a pool but I didn't use it. It's back by the air-con units.

Staff was helpful. A few spoke decent English. But ko Chang is out of the way, don't expect the same amount of English or service as bigger cities. We had a problem with our lock once and they rushed to fix it, quickly and with a smile, even though the fix was a pain for them.

Some reviewers complained of the rocky beach. It didn't bother us. We snorkeled a little right off the beach, there are some fish, but nothing exciting. You can however rent a kayak and go to the little island off the coast for some decent snorkeling. Fun adventure!

All in all, I loved ko Chang. A little hard to get to for only 3 days. Next time I will make it 5 days to be more worth the travel time. But I will come back to this resort with my kiddo FOR SURE, he will love it. Plus, I didn't notice any prostitutes in Kai Bae- but I saw plenty of them in other areas. Good thing to look out for with kids....

Well stayed here for 4 nights in February 2013 as part of a family holiday - we were a party of 8 so we had 4 beach front bungalows, two deluxe and two standard. All bungalows were clean and well furnished. Especially wonderful to be 20metre from the beach and to hear the waves lapping! Hotel staff are friendly and the buffet breakfast was good quality, with plenty of choice. We also ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and found that to be excellent and a good price. There are lots of things to do in Koh Chang, so if the beach gets boring there are plenty of other options! The hotel has a lovely pool as well. Also you can have a Thai massage, or another treatment on the beach. We cannot wait to go back!

6 nights in February, had booked a twin bungalow by mistake and were luckily able to change into a family room in main hotel building. Twin bungalow felt a bit damp/ smelly so were happy to get a brand-new room. Nice verandah where we sat reading if our son went to bed earlier. Hotel kindly offered to compensate the price difference of the rooms and we used it for eating in the hotel restaurant. Dinner & lunch three times, all delicious. Breakfast quite standard, good coffee.

We are family of three, son 9 yrs old. Hotel felt very safe to have our son alone in our room if we went for a walk or massage.

Everything reasonably priced at the hotel, drinks (beer 2eur), massage(7,5eur), foods (3->).

The beach is very shallow but a bit rocky. Nice canoeing to island nearby, totally safe as water is so shallow. The small village right around the corner if you need anything (flipflops, bikinis, swim pants, sun glasses, souveniers...)

Night life quiet which we liked. Nice Bar & restaurant on the beach called Porn's further away.

Only downside that staff is not as friendly and polite we have met elsewhere in Thailand. And only one girl in the restaurant spoke English, one person in reception

We paid 3100 baht per night for a Deluxe Garden Bungalow. We also had views of the ocean from the verandah. The bungalow was very nice, clean and bathroom was large with modern shower and tapware. We had air conditioning but didn't need it some nights. There are small fly screaned windows in the bathroom and bedroom area. Lots of wardrobe space, small fridge, kettle etc. The verandah has a very comfortable mattressed sun lounge. Clothes line on verandah as well if needed. Breakfast was included in our price and very satisfying. Egg station very well run. The beach in front of the resort was lovely and no sun beds which was nice to see. Restaurant was good. We had a BBQ one night which was tasty.

Near reception there is an open seated area with books to borrow. We really enjoyed out time here and will return.

We stayed here between Christmas and New Years when it was fully booked. Our party consisted of three generations, including a two year old and we all enjoyed it very much. We stayed in the new rooms and they were spotlessly clean and well appointed. We could sit on the porch in the evenings. The beach was lovely. Some have said its not a large beach but this is more to do with the water coming way up the shoreline at high tide. It's clean and nice for swimming. There are palm trees for shade close to the waterline which we appreciated with a child.

The pool is also lovely and very cool in the afternoons. There's a small baby pool and a little slide for kids. They also have a small playground for children a few feet from the restaurant which is quite handy for parents. The restaurant is lovely in the evenings. Good views and nice seafood etc. the breakfasts were good by Thai standards with plenty of selection. Coffee and tea not great. They have an omelette station which was nice.

Staff was for the most part very helpful and polite. Front desk staff were excellent for example. My only major criticism and, I'm docking a star for this, is that there are two staff members who work the restaurant on the beach front who are clearly jaded by tourists and can be rude and curt with customers. Two of the girls. Their English is excellent and we also speak Thai but they choose to be deaf to both languages when they want. I can understand becoming jaded by tourists but its your job, get over it or get a new one.

Wi-fi was available throughout although you need to get the one hour password from the little office near the restaurant area. Tip: get more than one at a time. Not having room service really isn't a problem, the resort is small and nobody minds if you order something and take it back to your room. I think it's decent value for money. If you enjoy a rustic stay, go for one of the cottages. They're very cute. If you prefer clean lines and modernity, go for the new block. We'd stay there again.
