Victor and Katya helped make our time in Granada a wonderful experience. Each morning they shared with us about life in Nicaragua and gave us helpful suggestions on how to experience Granada.
In addition, the hotel itself was clean, quiet and the bed was fantastic.

My husband booked Hotel Terrasol based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. We originally booked the room for 3 nights but ended up staying there for 4 nights. Katya and Victor, owners of the hotel, were so helpful arranging different trips for us. They also gave us so many great tips which only local people know about. The hotel was designed to give a feel of old building, but it was build several years ago using the earthquake-resistant construction technique from Japan. Since it was right after the earthquake in Costa Rica, I felt safe staying there. The location is perfect because it's in the quieter area of the city, but it is really close to where all the restaurants and bars are. We are looking forward to going back in the future.

Room Tip: Recommend to get a room with A/C since it is hot in Granada.

Do yourself a favor, just come straight here from the airport. I traveled in Nicaragua for 5 weeks and found myself coming back to Hotel Terrasol every time I was in Granada. They always remembered me and I was given such a warm and welcoming arrival every single time!

It's a smaller property that has a ton of character, feels incredibly open and warm, serves a delicious breakfast of juice, croissants, fruit and tea/coffee and comes with the friendliest proprietors I have ever met. Need directions? They'll give them to you. Want to go kayaking? They'll set it up for you. Need a car to drop you off or pick you up from the airport? They'll arrange it. Hotel Terrasol literally began to feel like my home away from home while I was visiting Nicaragua. Once, I showed up suffering from a severe allergic reaction, and not only did Victor and Katya give me some TLC, they wrote a note in Spanish and directed me to the nearest pharmacy, which had me cured quickly. Also, when I decided I wanted to visit Ometepe, they arranged for hotel there (El Encanto) that was magical.

Victor & Katya really know how to run this place. It's safe, it's homey and you really can't find this kind of service anywhere else. Located just a few blocks off Central Park and close to everything you need in the city. Whatever it is that you're trying to do in Nicaragua, they can most likely recommend something or point you in the right direction. If you find yourself in Granada, stay here!

We stayed here for a few days in July 2012. I booked this hotel based upon the many excellent reviews here on TripAdvisor. However, I am afraid our experience wasn't that fantastic. There really wasn't anything wrong, but we left with the feeling that there are nicer and more exciting places to stay in Granada for the same money.

Positives:
- Friendly staff
- Location is at walking distance from all major sights (although you can find places more closeby)
- Nice art work in the lobby and restaurant

Negatives:
- Boring breakfast. Some fresh fruit (always pineapple and papaya) and a giant dry croissant.
- Many rooms only have one small very high window, hardly letting any fresh air nor light into the room
- The restaurant was not open during our stay
- Boring atmosphere. No music in the restaurant. Even the guys at reception look bored. We were about the only guests during our stay - didn't help that much.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with balcony. You can open the doors and let the light in!

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently and loved it. We spent a few days in Granda before travelling to a couple of other places in Nicaragua, the owners stored our luggage for us and gave us some really good recommendations for where to stay. They really couldn't have been more helpful.
Our room was lovely with a huge bed, but Granada in august is intensely hot, so it's worth paying extra for air con. Breakfast was good, fresh fruit and a massive croissant every morning was more than enough and was a welcome change from the fried breakfasts we had been having in Belize.
This little gem isn't rated the best for nothing, it's well worth staying here.

Room Tip: Check the size of the beds, we had a queen size on our first visit, but on our second visit, the bed...

Terrasol is a lovely little hotel in a quiet part of town but still very close to the Calzada, where all the bars and restaurants are. The room we had was pretty and spacious, had a decent breakfast included and the owners are lovely people, friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately Granada is very hot, and our room had only a ceiling fan and not much ventilation...It was baking during the day and not much cooler at night. I would recommend anyone the rooms with air conditioning: they're more expensive but worth it. Also, the wifi signal doesn't reach the second floor (where the cheaper rooms were) so we had to go downstairs in the breakfast room. But that was ok, because that room was a lot cooler than our bedroom!

We were only in Granada for a couple of nights and picked Terrasol based on a few reviews I had read online. We were very happy with our stay there. The two owners I think had lived in the US for a while so there English was 100% and they were happy to share insider tips on Granada. They also booked a tour for us which was handy.
The room itself was spotless and had everything you would want. There is no hot water in the hotel but Granada is a hot city so we didnt find this to be a problem. There was a large cash box to lock our passports in etc and cable TV which had some English language channels. The breakfast which was included has been one of the best ones we have had since being in Central America.
Keep in mind its not the Hilton but it is very very well priced and located close to everything you would want to see in Granada. If I was to go back to Granada I would stay here again for sure!
