“Great hotel, quiet location- good base for exploring”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014

We really enjoyed staying at Terrasol. We spent 5 days in Granada and the surrounding area near the start of our trip, and even stayed one more night there after returning from Ometepe (on our way to the north). The location was perfect for us- a few blocks away from the Cathedral square and the main tourist area, so we could easily walk there when we wanted to....but it was tucked away in a quieter/safe neighborhood, and easy to "get away from the crowd."

Like many people have said before, the owners (Victor and Katya) were excellent hosts. They were typically around each morning, and were very accommodating. Depending on your travel style, they were willing to help you with transportation arrangements or find a tour company to set up a trip...or simply answer questions and offer advice about where to get the best currency exchange rate, bus routes/locations, where to go in the market to find certain things, and how best the explore the area on your own terms. The rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful as well, even helping me get some clothes tailored on short notice. Cold beer was always close-at-hand, and they even humored me, letting me practice my Spanish with them. Couldn't have been better.

The rooms are a bit small, but they're comfortable...a very good bargain. With the heat, we were glad to have a window and a fan, and in the cooler evenings, we made sure to sit out on the communal balcony and take in the views. The on-site restaurant was only serving breakfast at the time- but that was a good start to each day. Large croissant, coffee, mixed fruit, and homemade guava jelly- light meal, but very tasty! We would definitely recommend Terrasol to our traveling friends, and hope to stay there again, if/when we go to Granada again. Thanks!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a window and fan, otherwise you may want AC. The balconies are nice, but only...

Victor and Katya and excellent hosts and provide good visitors' advice on what to see and do. The small hotel is well-decorated and clean. Breakfast area is, too. But most rooms are very small and most have no window. Location is near center of town but quiet. Can arrange good tours. Continental breakfast isn't much either, tiny pieces of fruit, coffee, tea or juice and a pastry.
I had reserved 9 rooms for 12 people, but only 8 were available upon arrival. All rooms have one double bed. Rooms are much too small to add an extra bed. But a very friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: The only two rooms I'd recommend are the two rooms on front of second floor of which each has wi...

Dear Richard
We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay at our little Hotel, yes we are small and 2 of the rooms do not have a window to the outside due to city regulations, You did change your reservation twice and had told us that only 8 rooms were nedded , we have never left anyone without a room, we honor reservations even when we have been left with empty rooms.
Most of our guests agree that for the price value provided the breakfast is more than enough.
Thank you for mentioning the high level of customer service that we provide, we do take great pride in the service we provide.
We truly hope we can help you in any way that we can in the future and make your stay a more pleasant one.
Thank you again for choosing our humble little Hotel for your stay.
Sincerely
Victor and Katya

We enjoyed this hotel as a base to explore Granada. The owners, who speak English, and staff were knowledgable and helpful. We had an AC room, which we appreciated, but it did not have a patio or view.
The location is handy to the centre of town. Breakfast was just OK, and the restaurant was not functioning otherwise during our visit.

Victor and his wife Katya are the most informative people you will meet while in Grenada. On top of being great hosts, They also know how to run and manage the perfect hotel. It would be great if they owned a giant courtyard with pool, however, their clean and tastefully decorated rooms more than make up for it. The hotel is in a nice area and it is easy and safe to walk into the town center. I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Terrasol.

Room Tip: Some rooms have patios overlooking the street, others have small windows. Ask for the patios.

After an unfortunate reservation mistake at Nother hotel, hotel terra sol took my mom and I in with open arms, with great information, advice and knowledge of the city, as well as a beautiful hotel and an excellent breakfast (included) it was a very nice stay.

Only downsides were wifi was not great All the way on the third floor (to be expected) and there was no common area to sit and hang out whic would have been nice, otherwise a very good stay!

On the recommendation of friends, we stayed two nights at Hotel Terrasol in Granada. We would highly recommend it. As others have said, the owners are outstanding. Victor and his wife Katya are bilingual, and could not have been more helpful. Hotel Terrasol is about a 4 block easy walk to the Parque Central, and to La Calzada, the ( mostly) pedestrian street of restaurants and shops. Rooms at the hotel are small, and with no furniture besides a bed, a wardrobe and a night stand. In the rear of the hotel by our choice, our room had a small shuttered window, but we didn't spend much time in the room. Rooms overlooking the street have windows and some have a small balcony. The bathroom was adequate, but the shower was about the size of a phone booth. A breakfast is included, but as opposed to many other hotels in Nicaragua, it is not a typical breakfast of eggs, gallo pinto (rice and beans), toast, or tortillas. Instead it consists of a gigantic croissant that seemed to be slightly larger than a catcher's mitt, really almost a meal in itself, juice, coffee, and a fruit cup that can only be described as minute. Surprising in a country where fresh fruit is plentiful. The dining room is warm and inviting, and staff were universally friendly and helpful. There is no elevator (typical of almost all small hotels throughout Nicaragua) but staff were more than willing to help with bags. The hotel was neat and clean, and again, the owners were outstanding. If you have a vehicle, there is not secured parking, but we parked on the street outside, and for about $2 a night, US, someone kept an eye on the car. Laundry service was available for a few dollars, a welcome benefit after our first week traveling about the country. All in all a very enjoyable and memorable experience, and again, highly recommended.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, ask for one in the rear. Although the rooms in the front have a balcony, it is o...

During the first week of Feb. 2014, I spent a week at this fabulous hotel. The owners are amazing people and were always friendly and eager to help me in any way they could! This was my first trip to Granada, and as a solo traveler I enjoyed each tour they graciously arranged for me and the helpful advice I was given on a daily basis allowed me to fully enjoy each new adventure! I would highly recommend the Hotel Terrasol to anyone who enjoys a family atmosphere where the owners and staff are sincerely committed to providing quality hospitality at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: I appreciated having a room with AC after spending long days walking in the 90 degree heat! But sinc...
