“Absolute Highlight of the Trip”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

What a wonderful place to arrive to in Granada. The property is stunning, the views from the rooftop deck gorgeous and the location is spot on. They helped organize rides to and from the airport, massages, day trips out and were always ready to greet with a smile. The rooms are beautifully appointed, had air conditioning and the chickens are barely audible so not sure what other reviewers are on about.
My only negatives were the low water pressure in the shower and an adequate (but not great) breakfast, but both were still good enough not to detract from a top score here.
A special mention to Michael, who manned the hotel in the absence of the owners and was so helpful, friendly and professional that he would not be out of place in a 5 star resort. That is the kind of employee I'd want running my business any day.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms here.

From arranging airport pickup to the delicious breakfasts, the hosts consistently offer a wonderful experience in Granada. The city, itself, is delightful but I cannot imagine staying in any other hotel. They go out of their way to offer suggestions and make your visit more enjoyable. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and spacious and the patio is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast served with fabulous NIcaraguan coffee.

I started off my Nicaragua vacation with a couple days in Granada - and selected La Islita Boutique Hotel based on solid and consistently good reviews. And I was not disappointed - this place is fantastic...

I arrived about 11:00 pm after a late flight to Managua and checked in without issue, including a nice bottle of cold water. The room was spacious and clean, great beds and came with air conditioning (greatly appreciated for those of us not used to really hot weather).

Two best things? Location - La Islita is located on a dead end street away from the main thoroughfare,so it feels calm and is quieter, but yet only a few minutes walk from the main square and popular restaurant area. The other favorite thing is the rooftop patio - after a long day of exploring the area it was great to be able to sit on the patio, drink a beer and relax with views of Mombacho one direction and the main cathedral in the other

I stayed here back in November of 2011, and have been meaning to write a review ever since. It was my first time to Nicaragua, and our hosts made sure it was a wonderful visit. We arranged for airport transfers through the hotel, which went very smoothly. We were greeted cheerfully despite the late hour of our arrival, and shown everything we needed in the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was a real treat...the courtyard setting is beautiful, the meal was hearty and very tasty, and of course, the coffee was excellent. The hotel is in a very convenient location and you feel very safe walking to it from the main drag. The hosts are great about suggesting things to do in town, and they are also very gracious about accomodating special needs you may have. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean, and the hotel itself is very funkily decorated, with bright colors and cool artwork throughout. Definitely recommend staying here when you are in Granada.

Room Tip: The room with the patio is great for drinking wine before heading out for the evening or coffee in t...

We decided to visit Granada, Nicaragua for my birthday weekend. After reading all the wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor about the Islita Boutique Hotel we booked the room with a king bed and balcony. The room and bathroom were beautiful as well as spotless.Great A/C, great water pressure and very comfortable bed. Breakfast is served every morning in the courtyard. Everyday they serve something different. Virginia cooks delicious!!!
The owners of the hotel, Tim and Andres, are wonderful. They help you with whatever you need. They make it a point to get to know their guests and they know the area very well. All of their recommendations, from tours to restaurants were excellent.
Their staff is great too. Michael was very welcoming, accomodating and helpful.
The hotel is beautiful and definitely colonial reinvented. Colonial architecture with a modern twist. It is decorated beautifully and the location is perfect. In the middle of the city but at the quiet end of the street.
We will never forget our trip to Grenada or the Islita Hotel. Thank you Tim, Andres, the staff, and of course Emmett, their beautiful cocker spaniel who is always there to greet you. We truly felt at home and hope to visit again soon. Highly recommend this hotel.

I've had my fair share of hotels, posadas, casa particulars, and B&Bs but I'd have to say that La Islita made the top of my list. The owners and staff were gracious and incredibly hospitable and they helped arrange everything. Everything from transportation to ordering pizza for delivery. My partner and I booked a room on the second floor and the room is actually larger than my bedroom, as a matter of fact the bathroom is larger than my bedroom! Beds are comfortable, clean, large, and our room well kept by Victoria the lovely lady in charge of housekeeping and preparing breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it is a treat and not the usual bore you'd encounter with disappointment served in many mid-ranged hotels back home. The owners are wonderful and they make it a point to get to know their guest's and their needs. They will help with just about anything and they even invited my partner and I to join them in Masaya's market and volcano!!! Need I say more? I highly recommend this hotel!

Tim, Andres and the guys couldn't have been more accommodating and answered all the transport questions I had. Rooms are good value and courtyard and roof top terrace are very pleasant.

this place would be nudging 5 stars but for the chickens outside. They take some getting used to and even with a white noise machine and ear plugs they buggers did affect my sleep. One night the were crowing at 1am.

You will learn to be an early riser for sure.

Room Tip: Perhaps get one higher up with good sniper access for those chickens
