Living in Nicaragua, at times I need a break and retreat to La Islita. Rooms are comfortable with excellent air conditioning and hot water. The staff is very attentive doing everything from arranging tours to recommending great restaurants. The ambiance is warm and welcoming while also being cool and tranquil. I discovered this find on Trip Advisor…perhaps La Islita is just too cool for the guidebooks.

This is a small, high-quality inn in a good location for exploring Granada on foot. I loved everything about this inn - the ambiance (it is totally charming and unique), the food (absolutely delicious breakfasts), the interior garden with fountain, the bookcase filled with books including a recent Lonely Planet guide to Nicaragua, the owners and their friendly staff, flat-screened TV. Staying at this inn was a real pleasure, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to relax in a lovely setting. My only suggestion is to have a pot of coffee available before breakfast for early risers.

I lived in Nicaragua for about a year from 2009-2010 and travelled to Granada a fair amount, staying at La Islita with family, friends and co-workers. La Islita is easily my favorite hotel. It's a great value, has a fantastic location (about a block away from the main street - Calle de Calzada), large and comfortable rooms, and great service from its two owners. Owners speak perfect English or Spanish and are very helpful at navigating your way around Granada. Also, included in the price is a great, typical Nicaraguan breakfast. Most highly recommended!

Ten family members and I descended on La Islita for eight wonderful days of vacation. Andres and Tim (and their dog Emmet!) could not have been better hosts. They made absolutely sure that we were all having an outstanding experience in their hotel, Granada, and Nicaragua. The hotel staff were terrific too-providing: delicious breakfasts, warm, safe, and clean rooms, trip planning, and arranging transportation to all destinations. On our way back to Granada from excursions, my family would refer to La Islita as "can't wait to get home" as opposed to the hotel. This sums up how we all felt...at home. Stay here!

A great spot near central Granada. We only stayed one night, but it was a relaxing oasis on our travels. The bed was very comfortable, huge tiled shower, everything from the lobby, bar area and rooms are beautifully designed. Our room was a little dark, but other rooms had beautiful windows and balconies. Barking dogs and roosters in the neighborhood were annoying at times, but that's Nicaragua for you!

Andres and Tim went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, relaxed, interesting, and comfortable. They were more than accommodating in food selections, use of their computer, their space and their vast knowledge of the area. They organized and coordinated everything for us. They were marvelous. The entire hotel staff treated us not just as special guests but as family members. I am recommending not only this hotel but Granada to everyone!

We cannot say enough about this beautiful & tranquil property. We can only repeat what all previous reviews have said; La Islita is a gem in Granada. From the varied and delicious breakfasts, the hospitality of Tim and Andreas (Emmitt, too) to the entire staff, you can't go wrong staying here. We felt as though we were staying with friends.
Your hosts will recommend good restaurants, arrange day trips and airport transfers. The value is incomparable as this is five-star comfort at three-star rates.
We enthusiastically recommend this hotel and we won't think of staying anywhere else when we return to Granada.
