“Granada Gem”
Reviewed 3 December 2012

Miss Margrit's is a beautifully restored Colonial home with spacious rooms overlooking two lush courtyards. After the heat of the city, the cool pool and shaded retreats are a welcome respite.
Great breakfasts with plenty of choices are prepared by Veronica.
We have stayed at Miss Margrit's on three different occasions during 2012 and look forward to staying again in the future. Chris is a wonderful host of this Granada gem.

We went to Granada preparing to like it and we loved it. Chris, our host, was most helpful in advising us what to do and the best way to do it. Accomodation and breakfast were really good. We plan to return next year for a longer time to learn Spanish and take painting classes.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

Living in the cold north of the Canadian Rockies a hot holiday has been on the cards for too long.. finding this place helped us balance the transition into the culture of Nicaragua for our quick getaway! This beautiful home has real style, elegance and just enough luxury as to not overdo it.
We decided to skip Managua so our host Chris was able to arrange for his preferred driver Andy to pick us up at the airport. Much appreciated after a long days flying and not having any experience travelling in central america. A couple of emails and it was all arranged.

Once we had unwound in/around the garden pool we took to the streets of Granada, enjoyed good food and great rum! (Flor de Cana), explored the Mombacho volcano with an excellent local guide (ask for David) and took to the beach for a couple of nights.. the crashing pacific waves and perfect sunset won't be forgotten.

Thanks Chris for all your help,

All the best A + S

This place really did live up to its TA reputation!

this is a fantastic little house in an awesome town. Chris was very helpful in pointing us in the directions of great places to check out and to eat. The house was perfect and as advertised, the rooms were great, and it really made for a great trip. Breakfast was awesome and it was exactly the experience we were looking for. Thanks Chris for the awesome set up and we certainly hope to stay here the next time we are in Granada.

Room Tip: there are only three rooms - all of them appear to be great. Our's overlooked the pool and tuck...

These reviews you have been reading are spot on. Not only is the B&B beautiful from the lush rain forest like court yard to the woodwork and tile, but Chris makes you feel right at home. Even before we arrived, Chris made himself available for questions and helped arrange transportation from the airport. He also helped us with any questions after we left the B&B- going well above and beyond. Great B&B's also attract awesome travelers and with only 3 rooms available you can be sure that your neighbors will arrive with many a story to share over a drink in the kitchen, which just so happens to look out at the pool.

Chris- thank you, thank you, thank you. This was the perfect place to launch our vacation.

Miss Margrit’s Guest House was one of the highlights of my trip to Nicaragua this October. I’m no travel writer but feel compelled to register my review with Trip Advisor of this striking, comfortable and relaxed guest house in Granada.

Aside from the wonderful colonial surroundings (see pictures), welcoming shade, tropical gardens and inviting pool, the laid back owners immediately put you at ease and are very helpful. All mod cons (including air con and fortifying breakfasts) compete this oasis of tranquillity – enjoy!

I loved my stay.....A well appointed 3 room B&B...2 minutes walk from the charm of the main square.

The exterior of Miss Margrit's is unassuming from the street, a plain red wall with heavy wooden doors...BUT walk inside and you start to see why this has been rated so highly. The beautiful wooden floors and hand made tiles... the tranquil spanish courtyard. The management and staff were always helpful. They arranged a transfer from the airport for the 45 minute drive to Granada....and were happy to offer maps, and advice on things to see and do.

Breakfast was fantastic...The tropical cut fresh fruits, cereals and eggs and french pressed local coffee served next to the pool....what a lovely start to the day.

Ohhh Yes! Before I forget the lovely courtyard pool ....it was a great way to unwind after a hot day exploring....my perfect spot was cooling off in the water, with a long cold drink and cigar in hand.

Just wish there were direct flights from LAX to Nicaragua.....so I could get there faster!
