“Casa Cubana is a gem!”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

My boyfriend and I just spent 2 blissful nights at Casa Cubana. What a find! Esther, the manager of the hotel, was helpful before we even stepped foot in Nicaragua. email communication with her prior to our arrival was easy, informative and helpful. The casa itself is beautiful and peaceful, with a beautiful open-air courtyard with a small pool and hammocks...what more could you ask for. But there was plenty more...beautifully appointed rooms, wonderful breakfasts and Esther...who is a gracious hostess, a wealth of knowledge and fun! She invited us and others staying at the hotel to join her and others for dinner one evening; she has a wonderful ability to bring people together...whether you are a family with children, a couple or even guests traveling alone. We felt more like we were staying at a friend's home than as a guest at a hotel. Esther even woke up early the morning we left to make us coffee at 5:00 am. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we will definitely be back!

We stayed here for one evening in the beginning of February and wished we could have stayed much longer! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and cozy and we thoroughly enjoyed the romantic Saffron Suite. Esther was an amazing help with everything- she even got up with us at 4 am(early morning flight) to send us off by making us a delicious fruit smoothie, and coffee! Esther is an amazing, warm and interesting host and we strongly recommend a visit with her at Casa Cusbana!

Room Tip: We loved the Saffron Suite with its upstairs location and balconette overlooking the courtyard

It's hard to say a lot more than has already been said but we loved Casa Cubana. We stayed for 3 nights as part of our 11 days in Nicaragua. Communication with Esther from start to finish was super clear and she was helpful every step of the way. We especially appreciated the help with airport transportation and the cold Tona on arrival after a long day of travel. There's AC but we never used it - breezes and ceiling fans worked great for us. And as others have said, loved the saffron room. Esther's restaurant suggestions were great and the hotel is a perfect place to relax. We loved the pool and the breakfasts and the generally chill atmosphere. Esther, Andy and all the staff were friendly and professional. THE place to stay in Granada - don't miss it!

Room Tip: Saffron room!

We stayed in Casa Cubana for 4 days in January, 2014 and I would recommend it highly. The rooms are large and comfortable. Ester is a wealth of information and will graciously help you set up whatever you need for tours and transportation. Her recommendations are right on the mark. We really enjoyed the courtyard and the pool but one of the best things about Casa Cubana is the opportunity to eat breakfast with other travelers and learn about their experiences. We met some really nice people. Also the breakfasts were fantastic! If you are in Granada, by all means, stay here!

Room Tip: There is some street noise so it may be wise to request a room not adjoining the main street. Howev...

From the moment we walked in the door of Casa Cubana we felt welcomed and pleased to find the level of casual elegance that Casa Cubana offered. We were greeted by a most enthusiastic host, Esther. She took time to give suggestions and answer any questions we had about Granada. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The common area where you can either sit and read or relax by the pool was beautiful. The breakfast was excellent and abundant. We left feeling that we would return. A big thumbs up for Casa Cubana.

My friend and I stayed at Casa Cubana for two nights during an 11 day trip to Nicaragua. Granada was our first stop on our trip and Casa Cubana set the bar high for accommodation to come.
Andy, the driver of the B&B, was at the airport in Managua right when we arrived. He was friendly and talkative during the 45 min drive to Granada.
Upon arrival, Esther, the manager was so friendly and helpful. She showed us around the town and gave us a lot of tips of where to eat, drink, and see sights.
Our room was big, comfortable and clean. Although it was on the main level and next to the street, we really didn't hear much and were able to have a good sleep. Water was hot and AC functional.
Breakfast is included and delicious both mornings; all fresh and made from scratch!
Overall casa Cubana was the perfect place for is in Granada and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting!

My wife and I stayed for several nights at Casa Cubana during our recent trip to Granada and were extremely pleased. Upon seeing the home, we were immediately impressed at the cleanliness of the property and the care that has been taken to preserve and restore this beautiful colonial home. The property is located the perfect distance from downtown and all the attractions that Granada has to offer. We found that the 10-15 walk home from the downtown was the perfect distance to work off the great meals we ate while in this fabulous city. While in Granada, we took in the Laguna de Apoyo, the Masaya volcano and market, a trip to Catarina for a beautiful view of the Laguna de Apoyo, a visit to San Juan del Oriente (which has some of the most beautiful pottery we had ever seen), and just enjoyed wandering the streets of Granada. Esther was absolutely fantastic and was the perfect balance of informative and helpful without being overbearing. We felt like she really cared about our vacation and she couldn't have been a better host. We even wound up using Casa Cubana as our "base", with Esther allowing us to leave the heavy pottery and numerous pounds of coffee we purchased with her while we visited other locations in Nicaragua. Note: don't even bother using Managua as your base - Granada is a mere 45 minute drive from Managua and the airport... Andy "the driver" also acts as a fantastic host and tour guide and is a very dependable driver for anything you want to see or anywhere you want to go. Hazel and Mari keep the house looking clean and cook a mean breakfast, of course with all you can drink of Nicaragua's fantastic coffee. Finally, and perhaps one of our favourite parts of our stay, was "Gary" the "purebred" Nicaraguan street dog who acts as Casa Cubana's official mascot. We only wished Gary could talk since he must have quite a story to tell after his years wandering the streets of Granada prior to "adopting" Esther. Thank you for a great stay!
