“Peaceful space rejuvenates ... A brilliant renovation”

Backpackers Inn is a hotel in its infancy. It hasn't figured out the ultimate mission ... a budget backpackers hangout or elegant boutique hotel. The latter is the likely outcome. For the budget minded this is the real deal. There is nothing bad to say about Backpackers. It is a gorgeous space. The traditional courtyards and upscale conveniences are such a treat ... especially at the price. A hot breakfast was included with our room. It is generous and if you stay a few days you will find that they change the breakfast selection daily. The staff is accommodating to any need you might have. Laundry service is provided by staff. A kitchen and coffee is available all day and there is enough english spoken at the front desk to assist those of us who can't manage spanish as well as we should. The small pool provides a nice afternoon break from your street adventures. A favorite feature for us was the coffee bar with its expresso and cappuccino made to order.
The two rooms to the right of the pool take full sun for a good portion of the day. They won't cool down well without paying for AC. The rooms between the two courtyards cool down nicely with ceiling fans and 20+ foot ceilings. The other rooms around the main courtyard are fine without AC. Some of these are smaller and a real bargain.

Room Tip: Rooms to the right of pool take full sun during mid day... rent with AC

We stayed here for only two days. The Backpckers Inn is really awesome. It is situated right in the centre, near the central park. The house looks rather like a design hostel or a boutique hostel than a backpackers' place. Although the prices are a bit more expensive, this hostel is worth it. You will be surprised when you enter the perfectly maintained atrium of this old restored house. It has very nice furniture, paintings, a romantic garden, many places to sit and relax, TV, a swimming pool in the second atrium, a well-equipped kitchen with a fridge for everyone, unbelievably vast rooms and dorms, and the dorm beds are no bunk beds but big single beds with new mattresses. If you can afford it, go there!

I stayed in Granada for two weeks, and wish I'd found the Backpackers Inn sooner. It's dorm is the loveliest I've ever been in. No bunk beds here, just two rows of comfortable beds lined up under the grand 25 foot ceilings. It's quiet, cool, and a good place for a truly good night's sleep. There are plenty of bathrooms for everyone, and (luxury of luxuries) hot water. The kitchen is new and impeccable (as are all of the facilities) and actually nicer than mine at home. The atmosphere is quiet and tranquil, but you still feel like there's life here. You can have a comfortably quiet conversation without feeling like you're intruding on the peace.

However, the two courtyards and dipping pool are really what makes the Inn an oasis. Granada afternoons can be overwhelmingly hot, and this is one of the best places I found to escape from it.

Be sure to bring a bottle of water home with you at night though as you can not purchase one at the Inn.

First of all, this hostel is quite picturesque once you step inside, thanks to the courtyard and the very high ceilings. In additions, the entire hostel is very clean, has wi-fi, comfortable beds, in-house laundry service, a kitchen and comes at a reasonable price of US$15 per night. Also, the staff was very helpful, specifically in giving us instructions on using the buses to get to tourist spots, and in fixing a reservation at a hostel in Leon.

The location is also convenient as it is 2 blocks from the Parque Central. Some may prefer a location closer to the Calle La Calzada which is where most of the tourist restaurants and tour operators are located, but I was pleased to have a 5-minute buffer from all the commercial activity.

I got 3 recomendations for this hostel from other travelers and I definitly don´t regret my stay in this charming place. It is an old colonial building with 2 courtyards, one by the entrance and another one with the small swimming pool. It took me 2 days to descover the second one, as the entrance to it, is hidden behind the bar. The private room was spotless with very good matraces. They offer different kind of accomodations, starting from dorm room to private room with shared bath and private bath. The dorms are absolutely lovely:
- no bunk beds
- very spacious
Also they offer free coffee all day and free use of their kitchen.
The swimming pool is very small, but more than enough for a refreshing dip into the water.
A little recomendation: I would put some sun chairs beside it !
My favorite spot: the biggest hammock I´ve ever seen in my life, enough for a whole family ;-)
Resume: I recommend to stay in this little hostel if you are not on the very last penny for traveling. The dorm room is 14 USD/night , but worth it alone for the great colonial atmosphere there.
The staff were super friendly, with Jose Maria at the front desk and Dona Rosa as the cleaning lady. They always helped me out in a very nice way.

I love this place and would highly recommend it. So so clean. Convenient location. Pool and gorgeous courtyard. I concur with the previous reviewer that the TV was loud a few times but it wasn't the staff in my experience -- it was other guests. Stay at Backpackers for sure!

This is a beautifully little hotel right by the cathedral. It is single storie with two big courtyward spaces, providing private and dorm rooms in a lush green space. There are so many spaces in this very open plan hotel to escape and just relax including the pool side area, the hammock and the courtyard by the reception. I had a huge room (#4) with unbelievably high ceiling which was unlike anything I had stayed in before and a sort of four poster bed (no canopy).

The pool is small but pleasant, I got free cooked breakfast, free wifi and a decent nights sleep. The staff were very friendly although and several spoke english. They also offered some of the best value tours and taxies I found in Granada.

On the very minor negative side, the night staff seemed to like their TV loud, it slighly spoiled the atmosphere at night, but it didn't intrude into the bedrooms.

Room Tip: Number 4 has two beds, one double one single, en suite bathroom and straddles both courtyards for co...
