“Great saftey practices”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

We’ve done several zip lines in various countries and this one was in excellent condition, and their safety practices were consistently executed with precision. On one line you climb out and walk across. They put both the girls on it together. And then (because the guys thought it would be funny) the guide jumped up and down on the line shaking us all around while we were half way across. Apparently we screeched like girls. Well duh. At the end there was a free fall rappel off the last platform. My husband went first. They dropped him free fall for the first 2 seconds before turning on the break. Did the same thing to our friend's husband. Both boys would have screeched like girls except that they couldn't actually breathe. The girls then insisted on being dropped at a more reasonable speed. Overall it was a blast!

“Just the right amount of "thrill"”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

Lots of fun and well run operation. You'll get a rush, but unless you are a wimp will not be scared (too much).

“Great coffee, fun zip-lining, good value”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

I stayed a week with Nicaraguan hosts that bring their guests here every couple of weeks, so I shouldn't have to say much more.

The free drip coffee was great (Nicaragua is coffee heaven). Other members of our party tried the lattes and cappuccinos, which they described as "Starbucks on crack".

Eight of us also went zip-lining at a cost of $28 each. The tour took about an hour, and it was the right mix of touring, zipping, swinging, and dropping (that's the surprise at the end).

All in all, I thought this was a good value--worth the time and money.

“great experience (unless you're an adrenaline junkie)”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

I found this activity to be a good value; while I would have liked to experience a bit more of a thrill, it wasn't a waste (this is no reflection on the company!). if you are used to jumping off cliffs, bungee jumping and other such things, this is kind of a lack of rush. However, a great many people seem to be thrilled by it. Don' get me wrong, it was fun. The staff were great! One of the guides even takes your camera to get pictures for you through the tour. I thought that was a great touch! I recommend to pay the bit extra for the lunch. Comparatively (to other places in the area) it's a bit spendy, but compared to the US, not at all, and quite worth it. we got fresh squeezed mango juice, fresh grilled chicken and beans and rice and plantains. delicious for sure. the coffee there is also excellent. i might expect the wet season to offer a bit more in the way of beautiful forests (we went at the end of the dry season, so it wasn't particularly striking). overall, if you're going to do a canopy tour, i would recommend this company for sure. friendly, dependable, safe and a good value overall.

We were robbed by two Nicaraguan men, one with a gun and the other with a knife on March 2, 2014 at the las Flores coffee plantation where they offer these tours. Best not to go until they find these banditos, we found out that there have been five similar robberies with same m.o. In area recently. Advise you to stay away as not safe.

Café L, Director of Sales at Cafe Las Flores, responded to this review, 14 March 2014
Dear Mrs. Rebbeca F.

We can only imagine how you feel after this terrible experience while visiting the Mombacho Volcano. At Café Las Flores we strive to provide excellence in our service and above all safety. Our services include transportation and private guided tours to insure the safety of our visitors. While we call the Mombacho Volcano our home and concern ourselves with the safety of everyone, our security team covers our property grounds and unfortunately this incident happened passed our property. We would like you to know that we are taking steps to contribute to the security of our community.

We have met with our neighboring farms and landowners to increase the security of areas with low traffic.

We met with the Diriomo and Granada Police Department who have responded immediately and have sent two permanent police officers who will be covering the 5.5 Km between the Mombacho Reserve Parking Lot to the biological station where the trails start.

Again we would like to express our sympathy and support for you and remind everyone that it is in our most deep interest to return safety to our land, source of our work and pride.
