Description: Modern environment in a neoclassical property constructed in 1886. We've forged a relationship with Nicaragua's best coffee producers to provide you with an excellent cup. High altitude, shade grown boutique crops yield coffees with a crisp and balanced acidity, roundness, sweetness and rich chocolate-like brews. These farmers know what they do. The poetry is ever intended at Espressonista. On your table we serve local, slightly smoked ham. The brie, the camembert and manchego are also from Masatepe and Matagalpa. Organic lettuce, baby asparagus and other greens from Ticuantepe. Chez nous, we know where everything comes from. We bake our own pastries and breads, make our own ice creams, brew our own beer. We love food, drink and good company. Join us!

“Excellence in Granada. Best food we had anywhere in Nica (or world for that matter)”
Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

The chef is really talented and creative. I had the Ajo Blanco and Ossobuco. The cold soup was beyond delicious! Fresh and yummy. The warm meal had the most amazing salad and the meat was tender. The side included potato like something ...on the sweet side .

Bottom line, top world class food at $10+ per main dish.

The owners made us feel at home and they definitely made our last night special.

Dear Kris,

Thank you and Tristian for taking time to share your Espressonista experience with others.
I hope some day soon, I'll visit your pastry shop in New Jersey.
And though you guys covered a lot of territory in this country there's still a few more places to visit,
so we are hoping to see you again soon.

Hasta pronto,

Andres

“Great Find”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

My friend and I discovered this gem on our last night in Granada. The dinner menu is small and is presented on a chalkboard. Don't let the size of the menu fool you though -- it is one of the best meals we had in Nicaragua (accompanied by a local craft beer, of course). We stayed for coffee and dessert, which were the perfect end to our meal and to our last night. Both the ambiance and the service were excellent and added to our experience. If only we had more time, we would have definitely returned to Espressonista.

Dear Sasha,

We thank you for sharing all about your food and hand-crafted beers.
It would be so easy to take all the credit for it, but there is are a lot of people involved in producing all the things we put on your plate. So we are simply fortunate to work with them and equally lucky to be visited by people who appreciate it. We appreciate you as well. Big thank you joining us and wish all the best in your travels in this country.

“Best cafe and restaurant in Granada!”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

I have lived in Granada for over 2 years now and Espressonista is by far the best cafe and restaurant. The owner Andres pays such close attention to detail and quality of the food. We ate a 3 course meal and every course was delicious, rich yet healthy. No cheap oils or packaged ingredients used here! I loved the ajo blanco and also the vegetarian lasanga gluten free and not too much cheese which was perfect. My mother had the grouper for main course and thoroughly enjoyed it. To finish we had dessert of cheesecake and house made peanut butter ice cream. I generally don't eat so much when I go out however I felt compelled to try everything on the menu. I will be back for the other tasty delights such as pumpkin ravioli! I can't forget the coffee....roasted just 2 days ago...my espresso was spot on creamy and rich! In a city surrounded with mediocre cafes Espressonista is a breath of fresh air!
Beautiful location also :) thanks Andres for a wonderful day.

“Eclectic, uber-cool place in Granada, Ajo Blanco to die for!”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

We went to Espressonista on a recommendation from our b&b and were not disappointed! The owner Andres is incredibly nice and has lived in both London and New York, so his culinary savviness is top-notch plus he speaks perfect English. The house is a remodeled colonial-style home with an original chandelier at the front and one original antique table that was supposedly brought in from Italy by the original owners. The back has a beautiful patio with eclectic furniture and a little boutique with clothes, jewelry and purses from local designers or vintage finds. The whole place has nice, soft lighting and tea-light candles.

We were greeted warmly and served iced-cold water (free/not common in Nicaragua). We had the Ajo Blanco (white gazpacho with an almond base, garlic and watermelon) to start off, which was to die for! Then I had the Thai-inspired fish dish and my husband had the ravioli. Both dishes were great. I highly recommend the Thai fish. It is a noodle broth with delicate white fish, so it doesn't exactly match with having gazpacho first, but I truly enjoyed its lemon grassy, delicate flavor. Everything is organic and with carefully selected, fresh, local ingredients. I ordered a glass of rose and my husband had the melon craft beer. We ended our wonderful meal with desserts. I believe we had the blueberry cake and the chocolate cake plus I had an espresso. I particularly liked the blueberry. Our total bill was about US$85.

Then we stayed talking for a long while with the owner Andres, which was a wonderful sharing of ideas, traveling and culinary experiences. He even showed us a great Spanish/Mediterranean recipe book and let us take pictures of recipes he recommended! We closed down the place and were sad to leave-- we had such a great time. We loved it so much that we went back later and took some friends who were meeting us in Granada before continuing with our travels.

Disclaimer: Okay, yes, this place is pricey for Nicaragua, but it is an experience from start to finish. If you are on a tight budget but still want to check it out, go for coffee. Their coffees are top-notch too.

“Great Service”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We made a good decision to randomly stop in for an iced coffee after walking around for a couple hours in the Granada heat. This building was beautiful, but not necessarily close to central Granada.

It's a pretty cool place to relax before heading back out to explore other parts of Granada.

Guys,

Thank you very much stopping by our place to cool off with a Frappuccino (double espresso extracted à la minute, condensed milk and crushed ice). This month we are still roasting Eddie Canales' beans from Estelí, which are citrusy and redolent of red ripe fruit.

In two weeks we hope to have excellent beans from a Cup of Excellence winner.
Watch this space!

Thanks again from all of us
