“Very Charming Place with Excellent Service and Best Restaurant in Town”
Reviewed 12 May 2011

I enjoyed very much staying here and out of all of the restaurants that I ate at this one was the best and we kept coming back here for dinner. The location is excellent as well.

As newcomers to Nicaragua, this welcoming small hotel is a wonderful place to get acquainted with Granada and the surrounding area. Claudia made all the arrangements we needed for our three night stay, beginning with transportation from the airport. We were able to travel to Masaya, to Mombachu, and then on to San Juan del Sur, all by making arrangements with Claudia. Our driver, Woscar, was wonderful. Our tour guide, Giovanni, was a young, bright, delightful fountain of knowledge about the volcanoes, the flora and fauna, and the culture. Food and drink were unforgettable. In fact, each evening we would consider going out for dinner, but would quickly state to ourselves that the chef was fabulous, and why would we go elsewhere?? Every dish was beautifully prepared, and tasted even better. The rooms and surroundings were unique and comfortable, with plenty of tropical greenery, complete with talking parrots. Co-owner Terry was constantly checking on our comfort. Do stay here.

We didn;t stay at the hotel but we ate there one night and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. We had two vegetarians in our group and they went our of their way to make sure they were happy. The little garden in the back was a lovely place to eat and I wish I could have spent a night in the hotel itself.
And ,if you're feeling adventurous, they serve iguana and a cheese with worms that is a local dish. I actually special ordered the iguana and it tastes a lot better than you might think. I passed on the worm cheese though! This is where Andrew Zimmern stayed and ate while filming "bizarre foods" recently.

We were new to Nicaragua and just a little nervous. We were met at the airport bt Woskar, who is such a good driver we used him again 2 more times. C. At front desk was warm and helpful, and we were off on a delightful 2 hr carriage ride tour of the old city (highly recommended. They met us at the hotel doorstep.
our guide Giovanny was 24, soft-spoken, very knowledgeable. (Best Nica Tours) we liked him so much we booked 2 more excursions; the all day for $65 US is a remarkable value.
The hotel itself a visual delight, very comfortable rooms.
The dinner in the courtyard, gourmet salad, beef tenderloin (I've tasted none better) or lobster, +a glass of wine for...$20!
Oh yes and the mojitos (come for the happy hour +\or dinner)

Casa San Francisco is a jewel: the accommodations are scrupulously clean, the food is world class good and the proprietors and staff are community development oriented. The owners have poured their hearts and their souls into their project, just as they gave their all previously as international development workers and they have integrated their lessons learned into their hotel in Granada. Whether you want some quiet time to recharge, a place to meet new friends or advice as you explore the joys of Nicaragua, Terry and Nancy and staff stand are ready to assist. You will be pleased to have discovered such a special place. Love the birds in the courtyard.

I stayed one night at Casa San Francisco last year when my regular hotel didn't have a room available the first night I was in Granada. CSF had a pleasant staff, nice rooms, and a free breakfast! However, a short time later, after I had checked out and gone to my other hotel, I was deathly ill with stomach cramps and diarrhea. I'm not sure what part of the meal it might have been, but it was enough to sour me on the entire experience.

We stayed at the Casa San Francisco for one week. The hotel is beautiful with a small restaurant and bar, tropical courtyard with two talking parrots!! The staff are some of the best we have been involved with from the front desk to the maids. Our rooms were clean, comfortable with large bathrooms! The owner of the hotel, Terry, helped us plan our day trips and gave excellent suggestions on where to go and what to see. She even invited us to dinner where we had great barbequed chicken and roasted peppers Nicaraguan style. Our two very safe drivers, Carlos for tours and Narjan for everything else were knowledgeable and friendly. We have traveled extensively throughout Central America over the last 25 years and have found Granada and our stay at Casa San Francisco our favorite. We'll be back!!!
