“Always Good”
Reviewed 8 March 2013

Just back from Nicaragua and stayed at CSF for the third time in as many trips. This time, four nights in comfortable downstairs rooms #2 and #7. CSF is tops in my book - good location, good food, good lodging and good people. Not too big, not to small. The staff here - Maria, Claudia and Helena are always most courteous and helpful. Franklin is quick to have a happy hour Mojito or Macua in your hand. A great place all-in-all, but the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, from beginning to end, is what really stands out and makes this my go-to place in Granada. I am remiss that I missed Terry and Charlie this time around.

My parents stayed here 4 years ago and assured us of a wonderful stay. What can I say? Mom and Dad were right. Although we only had time for a one night stay we were welcomed as though we were moving in permanently. The staff went above and beyond for even the most basic request. Dinner was the best we had in Nicaragua. We even enjoyed the company of the other guests and resident wildlife. The hardest part was leaving to return home.

Just home from a visa run to Granada and delighted to have chosen Casa San Francisco again. Terry and her team provide a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining the highest professional approach. Maria at the front desk could not have been more helpful with providing answers to all our questions and making reservations for us. The location is ideal, just steps from the centre of the old town. Included breakfasts are yummy and entertainment is provided by the parrots. The pool is just right for a cool down after a day's touring.

Casa San Francisco is the unassuming hubbub of what's going on in Granada! My husband and I stayed there for 3 weeks while we worked with local artists who wanted to learn skills required for metal sculpture. When the staff discovered what we were up to, the hotel threw their support behind this project and opened the lobby for an exhibition of the artists's work.It was a huge success and the 3 artists have launched a business!
Our accommodation was very comfortable. The roof top terrace provided a place for privacy and the dinning area/bar was great for mingling.Breakfast time was always engaging. There is a wee tortoise who lives in the garden and it will appear amongst the flowers in hope that someone will toss it a piece of fruit and sharing this garden is the parrot who delights in conversation should you choose!Sarah and Ron

This 9 room hotel with owner-chosen decor that is different in every room, excellent beds and visiting talking parrots, has great food. Their chef is a professional with international experience. Their reception and wait staff are very helpful. And the location beside El Convento de San Francisco and mere blocks from the main old downtown square, cannot be beaten. There prices remain very reasonable with special deals for three day stays. What a find! (And we have travelled all over the world.)

Room Tip: Higher rooms are quieter.

I was pleasantly surprised to experience the comfort, "modern" colonial architecture, and friendliness of Casa San Francisco at a very reasonable cost. When I visited Granada in 1995 and 1998, there were no such accommodations. Arranged by the hotel staff, I attended yoga classes, went on day excursions, and had a dynamite massage. The food is delicious and healthy. And the location in the city is perfect. We already have plans to return next year for a longer period of time.

I stayed here for several days for New Year's holiday. The rooftop was a great place to watch the array of fireworks all over town. The hotel is beautifully furnished with a lovely garden and sweet little pool for cooling down. The rooms are air-conditioned with very comfortable beds and nice sheets and it's very quiet there, so I slept like a baby. The included breakfast and coffee was excellent. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Terry (one of the 2 sisters who own Casa San Francisco) arranged taxis for our pick up from airport, sidetrips, and airport drop off. She also arranged a lovely 2 day trip to Omatepe for us. Casa San Francisco has a very good location just 2 blocks from the plaza in a quieter area, but does have good bar and restaurant just around the corner. The birds were on their best behavior at the hotel while we were there, and I loved seeing Terry riding on her scooter with them perched on her shoulders bringing them to and from her house to the hotel. I felt that everyone there did their best to make our visit as enjoyable as possible; and it was! I will definitely go back!
