We stayed at Casa San Francisco for one night in the beginning of our trip and two nights at the end and I can't say enough about the experience. The rooms are great, and although one reviewer complained about the hot water, we found it adequate. The atmosphere, attention to detail, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and drink (we had dinner there our last two nights...very very good) and lush tropical feeling all made for a perfect stay. We love this place and will definitely stay there on our next trip and would recommend it to anyone!

My adult daughter and I spent three nights at Casa San Francisco, Granada in February 2010. It was all we could have hoped for and more. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the pool small but more than enough to cool off after a hot afternoon of walking the town, the staff friendly and helpful, a great breakfast, and a fine onsite restaurant and bar. Ideally located by the Antiguo Convento San Francisco it's a short walk to Parque Colon and its attractions, restaurants and exciting street life. Maria can arrange anything you're interested in and I'd highly recommend a two hour boat ride through Las Islas de Granada. Your first afternoon in Granada, though, head to Parque Colon and hire a carriage for a pleasant, leisurely tour of the city to orient yourself.

If you have doubts about Nicaragua, we found it as safe and hassle free as any travel destination and the Nicas always friendly and helpful. It's like no place I've ever been, mysterious and intreguing, but I enjoyed every minute of it and this was just the first of many trips that I'll make to Nicaragua and Casa San Francisco. Very highly recommended!

We arrived back in Grenada with no reservations and only needed to stay one night. We quickly found out that most places were full due to the poet's festival. I t was very hot that day. We stumbled, literally, upon this wonderfully perfect hotel. We were so hot and tired and we came into the lobby, were told they had a room for us and were amazed at how beautfiul the room and pool and entire hotel was. Really, really lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Grenada.

When we travel, we normally expect our hotel to just be a place to come home to after our day’s adventures. This hotel is an adventure in itself! Instead of gulping down breakfast to get on with the day, we found ourselves lingering over another cup of coffee after an excellent breakfast and chatting with staff and guests -- sharing stories and suggestions for what to do for the day. The central location is perfect for exploring this beautiful city by foot or horse drawn carriage or hired car and driver – all easily arranged by the friendly hotel staff. The hotel itself is a carefully restored colonial era oasis with water features, soft lighting and beautiful flowers, and then of course there is Charley the parrot that greets you as you enter and sometimes joins in on your conversations. Can’t wait to return – so many more things to see and do there.

The handsome architecture complete with lion fountain in the pool, an open courtyard dining area hanging with colorful bougainvillea and inhabited by lively parrots, and rooms replete with charm and beauty make Casa aesthetically pleasing. Add to that the wonderful staff, patient and helpful with our Spanish language practice, the delicious breakfasts, and the lovely nooks tucked all around perfect for escaping for a conversation or a few minutes of reading, and you have quite a find. Our kids loved the pools and the friendly parrots so much that we had to tear them away to see the nearby volcanoes and tour the town. When next we return to Granada, we look forward to staying at Casa San Francisco once again.
