When I was looking for a hotel in Granada I made email and telephone contact with Lidia, the owner and manager of Hotel Patio del Malinche. She was very helpful and accommodating with regard to my wishes, and her evident warmth and interest in answering my questions, and the description of the hotel on its web site, made it very easy for me to choose to stay there. I spent two weeks at the hotel and enjoyed every moment. Lidia, her husband Ramon and the staff were welcoming, efficient and helpful. My room was spacious and clean, and had every comfort one could want - air-conditioning, internet, TV, space to work etc. The interior of the hotel is an oasis of refreshing coolness and tranquility, and a wonderful example of Latin American architecture. There is no formal restaurant, but breakfast on the verandah of the internal courtyard was a relaxing and great start to the day. The pool in the second courtyard provided a welcome break from the heat of the day, with liquid refreshment available from the well-stocked adjacent bar. The hotel is located just one block from La Calzada, the main street of Granada, and two or three blocks from the main square. I will return to Nicaragua with my family and will be glad to visit Granada and stay again at Hotel Patio del Malinche.

We stayed two nights at Patio del Malinche and the girls at the front desk were our highlight. The place is beautiful, clean, etc, but the lovely ladies who helped us with all our planning made it extra special.

We loved this hotel. Wished we could have stayed longer. It is located just a few blocks from the main square, but is within easy walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Our rate included breakfast of your choice of traditional Nica fair or eggs, toast, juice, great coffee and a wonderful fresh fruit plate.

When we arrived, our hosts graciously took our cooler and placed it behind the bar so it would not take up extra space in our room. The room was not spacious, but clean and plenty big for our needs. The air conditioning was very welcome as was the hot showers. Internet was available in the courtyard and dining area, but not in the rooms.

The courtyard is very picturesque and exudes much colonial charm. There is a refreshing swimming pool and tropical plants everywhere. Our hosts offered us fresh towels for the pool while we were swimming.

All in all, we found the Hotel Patio del Malinche very lovely and tranquil and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Granada.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #2 which was on the ground floor and steps from the pool. It was very quiet and co...

This hotel is truly marvelous, and they were accommodating in every way! The owners know exactly how to make you feel at home and would offer you things before you even knew you needed them! The staff is all very polite and friendly and willing to help. The owners are also involved in lots of great social service projects around Nicaragua, so one really feels like they are giving back. We will definitely be back!

We stayed four nights at the Patio and it was our favorite spot during our trip in Nica.

The rooms are clean. The complimentary breakfast is generous and delicious. Good coffee. Great service--both housekeeping (first day, we had left clothes kind of disorganized about the room, and the housekeeper folded my BFs pants and stacked them up..above and beyond much?) wait staff in the morning for breakfast, and in general (we got in the pool one night. Our room was about two steps away. The owner jumped up, grabbed fresh towels for us, and brought them over to a chair right next to the pool. The girl at the front desk helped us repeatedly with booking massages, SKYPE call to our bank, and directions to the post office).

Finally, its in a great location!

It was calm, relaxing, and the view from the balcony was astonashing(view of the volcano). It is near the centre of the city, so not a too long walk to find a restaurant. The breakfast was delicious. Even though my room was a bit small, it seemed like they putted all their efforts into making it the best. The beds were comfy, the room and washroom were clean. The small pool was warm, clean and it was in a shape, that made it unique. Two benches in them, just to read a book, or surf the Internet. Near the entrance, there's a little square of plants, and open to the sky. The whole building is a colonial architecture. I really recommend this hotel for who ever wants a quiet and peaceful stay. 5/5

My wife and I just came back from spending four beautiful days at the great Hotel Patio del Malinche, and we definitely had a real pleasant experience. The rooms are very comfortable, the premises are extremely clean, and the hotel is conveniently located. Furthermore, the staff is incredibly helpful, professional, efficient, and friendly. We contacted them through email prior to our arrival in order to make some requests and arrangements. Needless to say, all of our petitions were granted and completely accessible at our check-in time. We sincerely thank all the staff members for the quality of service rendered to us during our stay, especially Isaura, Jessica, and Lidia for their advices, affection, and devoted time. Our most deserved compliments to the great family of Hotel Patio del Malinche!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
More than a place in the world, a house is a place in one's heart. El Patio del Malinche is more than just another hotel, it's a dream come true. Our interest to live in a different culture and to get to know new horizons took us to the ancient town of Granada. The sun-dried bricks of Granada's old walls and the hospitality of its people bewitched us. By restoring an old colonial house we relived a life of peace and serenity created by its inside patios full of history. We hope our guests will be able to revive and share with us the atmosphere of other times. We will be delighted to share our house, where life pours from every corner. ... more   less
