“sometimes the trip is not worth it”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

after the entrance you go on this big 4 wheel drive transportation the ride to the top is nice more if you do a quick stop at a coffee farm call el Progreso you can try the local coffee which is amazing and also you can buy it from there, also there are many other cold drinks available at the place, there is nice view to of the Masaya volcano too, then you keep going to the top of the volcano where the park rangers give you an explanation in Spanish if the Park ranger that speak English is available he do it after the one in Spanish, after that you can go on your own to walk around the crater which is about a mile if it is cloudy you miss the view and about wild life forget about it there is very few or nothing to watch in this volcano except for plants if they are in season and with out the help of a local guide from Granada or an English speaking park ranger the trip is not very good, so I recommend to with a local tour guide or a park ranger to have a better experience.

“Wow!”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

I was not anticipating such a wonderful sight. The main active crater is quite breathtaking, especially in scale with plenty of viewpoints. Constant Sulphorous emissions, very dramatic. There are also some lovely views of Lake Nicaragua and northwards towards the main volcanic chain. Do visit, you will not be disappointed.

“Went up via Tierra Tours”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

going up was kind of fun because of the steep angle. Visited the coffee plantation, went on a hike which could have been quicker. Lots of fauna and butterflies. Tour guide was knowledgeable about volcano and plant species as well. Also went zip-lining, very fun and the guys working there made it a blast!

“Very interesting”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

A not to be missed sight. Well worth a trip to both the volcano and the museum. It's history is interesting and it is beautiful. We went during the daytime, but I've been told an evening visit is also worthwhile.

“Great day trip”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

You can catch the bus in Granada, take the little "cabs" up to the park. You are transported up to the top of the volcano and have several options for hikes, the more strenuous require a guide with an extra fee. Beautiful views, plants, birds.
