Reviewed 26 August 2014

From the moment we checked in (late evening) and were invited to the restaurant before they closed, we were amongst family. Our needs ALWAYS came first for the duration of our stay, from the moment we were handed the key to drop off luggage upon entering without checking in.

Gabi is running a wonderful hotel and restaurant, that is the very best experience in a hotel I have ever had. I have stayed at 'nicer' hotels, where you have an air of 'money' and typically formal/cool attitudes from hotel staff, but I will not ever forget my stay here because of the warmth that she and Eda convey to their guests. Its personal for them.

With luggage lost by the airlines, Gabi was eager to ensure our stay was better by loaning me a robe so I could deposit our clothes in her care for cleaning. Ready the next morning outside our door, for a total of ten euros (far less than the service at other hotels - i.e. 6 euros for pants, 3 for a pair of socks) and without hesitation taking them again at 11pm the next day. She even worked on getting us tickets to the castles...

The complimentary breakfast was abundant in choices, from breads, cheeses, meats, fruits, pastries, juices, coffee, cereals and on it went. If you leave hungry, you didn't try hard enough...

I don't like gushing, but I really have a sincere respect for Gabi's approach to her work. Like another couple we met there, who travel to Europe every two years (this time to Scotland, England, and Ireland), we will go out of our way to come here again. It was their 4th or 5th visit.

Only half an hour or so from Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, and close to Linderhof, Zugspitze, Wieskirche, it keeps you away from the touristy areas and gives you the feel of the local character, nevermind the beautiful mountains you are forced to look at! Gabi gave us passes to ride the tram/lift and handed us jackets (that fit!) as she told us it would be cool up there. We had checked out of the hotel at this point, and she simply told us to leave the jackets at the lift office, as the town of only 615 would get them back to her.

Thank you Gabi for the highlight of our trip!

We have stayed at this hotel many times. It has become our favorite stop in Europe. This year we had the best meal of our whole trip at the Maxi. It is a family run place and the family eats in the restaurant with the guests, so you know the food must be good. Gabi and Monika, and their staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They look after us like we are part of their family! The Maxi is comfortable, clean, quiet, and safe. It it located in a perfect place, making day trips to the Zugspitze, Neuschwanstein, and even Innsbrucke very doable. Gabi speaks excellent English and is a wealth of knowledge about the area and what to do and see. Very kid friendly! There is even a Rodelbahn nearby in Leermoos.

We initially chose this hotel to be close to the German border to visit the very famous castles near Fussen at the end of a holiday travelling through Germany. However we were delighted with our choice and wish we had spent longer here in Austria.

On arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us advice on visiting the castles and other attractions in the area. Throughout the entire stay, the staff could not do enough, whether at dinner, breakfast or for drinks in the lounge.

Our room was lovely and clean, airy and light. We enjoyed overlooking the mountains and hearing the cows with their bells every day.

Although on the outskirts of the town, the hotel is in a great location if you have a car. We were only there for two nights, but we visited the cable car (which the hotel gives you an activity card to do for free) and explored the beautiful views from the top of the mountain. It was also very easy to drive to the castles near Fussen, but get there early to avoid huge crowds and queues! The town of Reutte is not particularly interesting, but has good facilities and is a good size.

Do make sure you have dinner at least once in the restaurant at the hotel! We ate there both nights as it was so delicious and reasonably priced. It seems a popular place for many tourists. We also enjoyed playing table tennis and pool in the evenings. We are hoping to stay there again soon.

Room Tip: Eat in the restaurant at least once for dinner.

Up sides: The staff is very attentive and friendly. The restaurant and food are quite good. The rooms are nice, ours had a great view. Down sides: Very noisy outside traffic, conversations in other rooms, and plumbing noises. The building (near rooms 5,6,7), transmits every door closing clearly. Difficult to sleep well.

Room Tip: Get a room in the back away from the streets.

When visiting the castles in Germany we decided to cross over the border to get away from the crowds so we stayed at this hotel. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the local scene. The people who greeted us were always helpful and even told us about a local band and dance performance. We waled over the bridge in the rain and it was well worth it. We seemed to be the only "non-locals" there and had a wonderful time enjoying the local flavor of the village. Them even gave us headlamps so we could see one our way back to the hotel. This is a great place to stay- very comfortable, great food, and nice people.

This hotel is soooo cute, super staff, delightful restaurant with really great food. We were a family of 6 from 9 years to 76. No one wanted to leave. There were fun things for the kids to do, we loved the location, I could see the castle at night out the window. We are hoping to have an opportunity to visit again. We were given delightful advice on special routes on to our next spot, some roads we could have never found on our own

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back.

Hotel is beautiful!. Rooms are very comfy and with all the things you need for a good night sleep.
Location is great.
Food is very good too, you don't need to find a good restaurant nearby. We were looking for a good place and found that the hotel restaurant is even in Rick Steve's Best of Europe book as one of the best restaurants in Reutte.
Staff is very friendly and always willing to help. Reutte is an amazing place with great views. We really had a great time.
