“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2012

We have stayed in Haus Hirt in January 2012 for a week. The purpose of the trip was skiing.
I recommend this hotel to those travelers who enjoy comfort, a cozy atmosphere and are food lovers. It has a good location, a regular shuttle service to ski lifts, a restaurant with a wonderful view and a spa area which offered several services from yoga, saunas, massages to beauty treatments. A true wellness hotel i would say. The food was amazing as it was always fresh, you could choose from fish, meat and vegetarian food.
Nevertheless, several things i would like to point out:
- in my opinion this is a hotel only for families, not for couples. There are children everywhere, literally.
- the rooms are not as big as we have expected. we had a family suit on the top floor of the hotel. It was cozy - yes, but quite small, about 15-20 m2 per floor.
- heating - it could have been warmer.
- beverages are quite expensive in the hotel. Tea - 3,50 Eur. Wine - 7-10 Eur per glass.

Comparing to all other hotels in the area, i would still go to Haus Hirt if i am in Bad Gastein again and i definitely recommend it.

We wanted to have a relaxing vacation time with SPA, skiing and good food and drinks. Like the website promised. We don't mind kids since we have been in other "family friendly" hotels of this class. However, Haus Hirt lacks three important factors::
1. It's service is good but far from a professional level which is expected at this price tag.
2. Kids and parents behave like they own the hotel without respect of other guests.
E.g. The hotel bar should not be a place for kids after 8pm.
3. The entire infrastructure needs an overhaul e.g. Sauna, bathrooms

It was our first and last time time at Haus Hirt. We have spent ten days there, and were about to leave already after three days!

The setting is great, nice hotel, nice service, great view and individually furbished. Everything a bit chaotic but very friendly and supportive. The dinner has room for improvement.

However, you directly realize that a bunch of allegedly ageless and intently cool, creative and freethinking parents with horn-rimmed glasses and badly behaved children have taken control of the place. And you ask yourself who is behaving worse the children or the parents and you come to the conclusion that at the end the parents are the stumbling blocks.

Since it is praised as a family friendly hotel and everything seems to be allowed everyone behaves as if they are at home: parents in joggers and flip-flops, packed with toys for their toddlers invading the dining room or bar at any time - in the morning as well as in the evening. If you fancy the idea of having an afternoon tea reading a book in the fireplace room, or having a drink before dinner at the bar or even after dinner forget it. It is like in an airport lounge children chasing each other or the parents their children or other parents. Not to mention the SPA, even though they have a splash time for children it is not very relaxing.

You get there with the expectation of having a peaceful and relaxed time in the mountains in a small boutique hotel with an individual service. But it is not close to it, at least not when we were there and it was not in one of the special children's (parents') weeks.

Last but not least the rooms: they are very nice, the modern ones as well as the old ones, however overall they need an urgent revitalization, particularly the beds and bath rooms. Our room and the room of our friends had little soundproofing which is unfavourable if your neighbours are having pillow fights at 7 am.

It seems that the hotel management needs to decide whether they want to run a family camp or a boutique hotel for everyone to relax. Until than they should at least start with some house keeping rules which makes every guest aware that even if they feel like at home it is not their home and hence have to behave in an appropriate way.

Especially considering the prices of 250-300 Euro per day one can expect a corresponding service at least WLAN in the room ;-)

This hotel is great for families with kids, for just couples not so much. The breakfast is amazing and the breakfast room view is breathtaking. The service has been impeccable. I would probably return only with friends who have kids as well. As other reviews have already pointed out, it can be tricky with the parking spaces. We have not tried the spa/swimming pool area as there were too many noisy children :-) Otherwise, nothing to complain about.

This is definitely a very nice hotel and the woman that runs this hotel is giving her soul.

However,

(+) great restaurant view and great food...you can see the whole valley. The pianno music makes everything so nice.
interesting spa
wonderful activities organized by the hotel that brings customers closer.
great bar....and very nice furnitures...they've got very good interior designer.

(-) the room was not as in pictures...it was extremely small and the bathroom was not in good condition. Broken wasbasin etc.
No real wardrobe!!!
Our friends room was 100 times better than ours, besides the fact we paid the same price.
The parking place can be tricky!!!
and many many babies and kids!!

What a wonderful hotel in a most beautiful location. Great hospitality and food. We were caught by surprise at the many many small children at the hotel (which we understand to be fairly typical) and given the open nature of the hotels living and dinning rooms there is no where to escape for quite time without crying babies and manic parents. So whilst this hotel is a wonderful experience it is probably not right for couples looking for a quite romantic time.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the "traditional" (un renovated) rooms

This hotel come with high recommends however it was less than pleasant because of many many small children and parents. Not a hotel for couple or romantic getaway. Many parents who take the haus as their own.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a larger renovated room away from families with young child
