“A fine Villa”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

Three night stay in a fine old house in Bad Gastein...... an excellently spacious room gave a view across the river valley and the waterfall that runs straight through town because it can't be bothered to go round. A very good dinner with a chirpy helpful waiter/maitre d' and a fine choice of wines..... they do very good wines including half bottles. Well looked after throughout and I'll happily return. Bad Gastein is a good place with plenty of bus/train connections and walking routes.

if you love history and how were they living before 200 years you're gonna love this place. it is nice, clean and they are trying their best to keep it as old as it is. I assume it was a private palace for somebody before hundreds of years. the room looks nice, old style the bathroom is beautiful, big and well-equipped.
the lady in charge is very nice and cooperative, she made a very nice breakfast and was so friendly and helpful.

the terrace has an amazing view of the village and waterfalls. but it was very cold to stay outside.

I would recommend closer place to the waterfalls. I saw some hotel apartment there but I can't remember the names.

Room Tip: don't miss the breakfast on the terrace if the weather allows

From check-in to check-out this was a truly brilliant experience! We stayed for a week in July when things are quiet in the area so everyone had more time for the few tourists around but we felt this was just adding to the charm of this pleasant villa.
You probably would have expected a room like this a hundred years ago and that slow-living atmosphere was still there. Room was comfortable and the views superb. Same goes with the restaurant. Also the location of the hotel was excellent at least in the summer.
Do go there, a great place!

Stayed for 4 nights in Villa Solitude, very rapid check-in, great parking space.
Room- an apartment clean, with nice terrace, antique furniture and nice terrace. The rooms on the first floor even nicer, but we had access to a nice living room, great terrace.
Restaurant near villa, Lutter and Wegner- very good, especially the best crème brulee( prices fair).
Feeling cozy in a very romantic location, extremely famous 100 years ago, Bad Gastein stiil have many to offer : nice waterfall, great open air free concert( Salzburg Philharmonic), nice tennis and golf tours. There are few attraction: therme , churches( St Nikolau is fabulous), walking, trekking , eating, bathing, cycling, you can do everything.
I would returned in Bad Gastein for sure.

Room Tip: first floor apartments

This is a true villa, Inside are original antiques in the common areas as well as the rooms, which are better than 5 star hotels I have stayed at. The bathroom was one of the nicest I've seen, better than the Ambassador Hotel In Vienna. The place is kept spotless. The view from my room as well as the terrace rest. are just beautiful. If staying here you must stay for dinner, the cook was trained in Paris and food simply excellent. You can not go wrong with hotel.

We stayed 2 nights in this jewel of the crown in Bad Gastein and it felt like being in another epoch. So different from other hotels was this well kept villa. The location with breathtaking views on the waterfall and Bad Gastein. The warm hospitality of Iris, Wolfgang und herr Director Katz who gave us the right feeling of being at home. The beautiful restaurant to dine inside or on the magnificant terrace, where we started the sunny days with a good breakfast. The large suite on the ground floor with authentic furnishing in the sitting room and bedroom, the large bathroom. Romantic and stylish with all modern amenities a traveller needs. The cosy lounge, everything reminded us of good old times. Villa Solitude is a treasure, with good taste created by their owners. We recommend this jewel to everybody who can appreciate it and wish Iris and Wolfgang all the good luck they need to make their dreams come true. Vielen Dank fuer alles!

The hotel is a lovely, well kept house established in 1838!
my room is spacious double superior, separate living room and small bed room. they are decorated with old fashion furnitures. a bit dark, but acceptable.
the living room has very nice view of waterfull! My doubled bed is made of two small wooden bed together. there is a ditch in the middle, it's uncomfortable. If they could provide a real queen size bed, that would be perfect.
The bath room is very very good! it's spotless, spacious, in country victorial style.
Another good thing about this hotel it's the restaurant. You can't miss this one, because it's best in the town. try the fish soup, it's fatastic! the taste of heaven. Breakfast is included in room rate, good combination, very satisfying too. And the restaurant prices very reasonably.
Bad gastein is totally a town made for tourist. when low season,it's quite dead! lot's shops and restaurants close, even the casino! there is no nightlife at all. next time, I would choose to stay in Bad Hofgastein which has more local citizen and life style.
