Description: Situated at the summit of the medieval town of Domme, on the Esplanade, which dominates the Dordogne valley. From the restaurant, which is shaded in harmonious yellow and blue to the rooms with antique furniture, you can experience and enjoy the Dordogne thanks to cuisine based on the flavours of the south-west intensified by inventive notes.

Dinner here recently after reading the positive TA reviews. And looking at its location, which is just beautiful. We were seated outside on the verandah, and after choosing our menus were told that ws only for lunch (ahh, the difficulties of only having a petit peu of French!) so - 2 of us had the 39 euro set menu, and one the 49 euro which had more choices than the 39 menu. And, as it turns out, was a whole lot better. We were given as much bread as we could eat, with a walnut loaf and baguette on offer, were offered an amusee bouche which was delicious and a gazpacho, which 2 of us liked and one didn't. Calamari for entree was a bit tough, truffle dish was completely delicious. Mackerel was good but is a very strong fish; sea bass was absolutely delicious. Raspberry mousse in a roll was a bit bland, macaroon with raspberry was finger and plate licking good. Wine list was reasonably extensive with a number of choices. Watched the hot air balloons over the valley, and saw the sun go down. Beautiful.

Perched on a cliff, the restaurant is the dining room and terrace of the hotel. We went for the view and food exceeded our expectations. Note- Lunch deals are not offered on the weekends. We had two of the 29€ three set course menus and two of the 38€ lunches providing choices within the 3 courses. Amuse Bouche and small soup appeared at commencement. Food interesting, modern, well cooked and presented. The menus were well crafted so no choice for the cheaper option was not an issue. Couple of bottles of wine and long lunch for 50€. Well worth a splurge.

Looking over the Dordogne river from the height of Donne and the terrace of this restaurant would be worth it even without the pleasure of dining. But the food and service are both first class. We had the E29 three course menu for lunch. Duck accra, though not quite warmed through, were delicious. Then came beautifully cooked trout, and for dessert, strawberries and excellent vanilla ice cream. More expensive menus are offered as well as a la carte.

We had the prix fixe lunch at €29, no choice but all delicious. Started with canapés and an Amuse Bouche (not listed on menu) followed by starter of veal terrine, steak and beautifully presented vegetables, and finally a cherry tart and ice cream. Incredibly good value lunch with a terrific view over the Dordogne valley, and excellent service too.

This is such a lovely restaurant;stupendous views over the valley, the food always perfect & presentation exquisite. We were 7 celebrating a birthday & it lived up to the rave reviews we had given our friends. They had just launched their new menu & we had amongst the starers Pot-au-fue de joue de boeuf (which looked amazing & apparently tasted magnificent!!) We also had the Tuber Aestivum which is essentially a perfect cabecou of goats cheese with fine slices of summer truffle (yum!!) & one of our party had a 10g truffe cooked in papillotte. This was all followed by Calamar a la carbonara,Marinated grilled mackrel with black pudding,Pigeon 3 ways,Ris de veau & Noisettes of lamb fillet. Everyone loved their beautiful looking plates which all tasted as good as they looked (& they looked outstanding). If you can eat outside as the view if so beautiful & the decor of the restaurant is a bit dated. Their chef really is excellent & even though it is not for those on a budget if you love food do eat here. Would advise booking. **As a footnote as we were leaving the heavens opened & they very sweetly lent us umbrellas so our visiting friends could have a walk around the town. Very thoughtful.
