“Warm, welcoming and excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

We stayed one night as part of a short tour of Normandy. I remembered the restaurant from many years ago on battlefield tours and hoped that it was still good. We were both very impressed with the welcome on a blustery wet evening. The room was warm, simply furnished but scrupulously clean as was the compact en-suite. The bed was beautifully comfortable as I had just driven for 650kms! We took our aperos in the comfortable salon, relaxing in the comfortable leather sofas. We had some interesting cider based cocktails which set us up for an excellent dinner, fish soup, rump steak, and a nougat semi-fredo ice cream. The taster local cheese plate was superb. We finished the meal back in the salon with coffee and Calvados. The red wine, intriguingly called "The Arrogant Frog" was superb. The room was warm and we had a good night's sleep, although two pillows per person would have been nice without having to ask at reception. Breakfast was traditional continental and the only criticism was that we would have liked a boiled egg but this wasn't on the otherwise excellent bill of fare. A great little gem! We'll be going back.

Reservation process was easy and Christian was so kind in keeping in touch with me before our visit. Even our late arrival didn't cause a fuss. Location of this lovely B&B allowed us to easily drive to the Normandy beaches and walking around the beautiful town was an added treat.
Our meals were excellent amd the price quite reasonable.

Le Mulberry is among my favorite places ever to stay. My family felt very comfortable and welcome here. The family room was very spacious (even by US standards). The restaurant and food were an added jewel. The food and wine were delicious. Everyone I encountered at Le Mulberry was very kind and hospitable.

Room Tip: Family room is very spacious. Church bells are added charm. We slept with the roof windows open an...

My wife and I stayed here one night in the room that is behind the restaurant/main building. The room was a good size and very clean. The breakfast was excellent! We ate our dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed the meal. Christian's wife is the chef and she knows how to cook! Like others have commented, this is the place to stay if you wish to explore the Normandy area. We were pressed for time and could only stay one night, but if we had more time, we would not hesitate to use Le Mulberry as our base.

The hotel has warm, welcoming staff and the location is good if visiting all the Normandy landing beaches. Accommodation is fairly basic and yet comfortable (we had the family room in the loft). Beware - if sleeping at the rear of the hotel the church bell strikes on the hour every hour until 23.00 and then again from 07.00!!!! We eat at the restaurant for one of the two nights and the food is tasty but again a bit basic - I had duck with mash but no vegetables were served. Car parking outside the hotel is very limited and the keys for your room on arrival can only be gained after 17.00 (worth knowing if you arrive early as we did). Arromanches has quite a few restaurants and bars at reasonable prices and it is an attractive small town.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the front if you are a light sleeper!!!

Christian the host was lovely. We found Arromanches the perfect place to stay to explore the Normandy beaches. Others complained of the church bell, but we didn't find it a problem, it simply added to the charm and unless you had the window open, it wasn't that loud. We stayed 5 nights in the family room, my wife, myself and our 11 year-old son. It was spacious and clean, bathroom was good. Nothing to complain about at the Mulberry if you are looking for well priced, reasonable accomadation and a charming host

We arrived and were checked in by a very welcoming young man who showed us to our family room on the top floor, note that the staircase is very steep and spiral to the top floor. A good sized room with a well equipped bathroom ensuite and roof windows including one overlooking the infamous clock tower. Hanging space is a little limited, and the one thing that would be a nice touch would be a tray with a kettle, cups and saucers and some tea/coffee which is sadly missing at present. A gentleman helped carry our cases up the stairs who later transpired to be Christian the owner. Breakfast is continental with cereals, orange juice, yoghurts, fresh bread a crossant and a choice of preserves. We ate in the restaurant one evening, the menu is traditional Normandy, rustic and tasty. Unfortunately as they were closing the next day for three days the menu was more limited than usual. As mentioned earlier the clock provides a very good 7am alarm call enabling you to be fully ready for breakfast at 8.30 !
The hotel has no parking, but there are plenty of public spaces nearby which are only full during the day.
