Hotel La Granitiere
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Took our Grandson (16yrs) and wanted him to experience a real French hotel not a corporate could be anywhere hotel and the La Granitiere was perfect. A short walk to the harbour & shops. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. We only found one restaurant which opened beyond 7pm but fortunately the food and atmosphere was excellent.

Magnificent old building full of charm ,if slightly quirky . Easy parking both in the grounds or on street, and a few minutes walk to local shops , resturaunts and marina. The owner is welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast, which is very good is served in the charming and quaint bar/ dining room.

This is a really wonderful hotel; we booked through Brittany Ferries, the first time following a 10 stay in a give because it was a village we wanted to visit; the second time because we knew it was good. The proprietor is excellent, knowledgeable and if you allow it fun. He was excellent in helping me speak french and when I got stuck and reverted to english, he told me how to say it and then said "now in French". The rooms are lovely, clean and well equipped; the breakfast is everything you think it should be - just remember this is France and so you get a continental breakfast! We had a lovely en suite, plenty of parking. The village is picturesque similar coast to cornwall so plenty of boats. A lovely trip to Tatihou on the ferry with wheels. Dinner where do you choose? Ask the proprietor and he is so helpful and truthful, we had a fantastic meal and ate oysters (yuk) but the food and service were great - because we had never eaten oysters before the waiter told us to split a plate - they don't do that in the UK!!!

Room Tip: No they are ALL excellent, I might have requested a double bed, but it was only for 3 nights.

We booked this hotel through Brittany Ferries as our base for a short cycling break. Arriving worn out after a hilly ride from Cherbourg on a Sunday afternoon we were shown to our room which was a twin. Without asking we were offered a comfortable double room the following morning. The breakfasts were excellent, the service excellent and the proprietor could not have been more helpful. Our bicycles were kept securely in the garage. A very enjoyable few days.

We received a warm, friendly welcome on arrival at the hotel and lots of help and suggestions for restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was very close to the sea front and town centre.

Have just returned from our Anniversary trip to St Vaast,
La Granitiere is the perfect place to stay, not only is the charm of the Hotel and it's owner Jean-Paul a perfect compliment to the picturesque fishing and oyster centre of St Vaast but also offering a very comfortable and reasonably priced room (e69) and a substantial breakfast with lovely fresh coffee This made our trip very enjoyable.
Plenty of free parking and good free wifi.
Good local restaurants for dinner which Jean- Paul will guide you through.

Thoroughly recommend and will be back again soon!

Room Tip: We stayed in a small double room at the top of the hotel, it was comfortable, good shower and TV and...

Have stayed at La Granitière several times and it never disappoints. Great welcome and very helpful owner who advises on the excellent choice of restaurants in the port. High standard of cleanliness and decor - very typically French. Breakfast is a perfect start to the day. Can't ask for more!
