We stayed here on 1 June, en route to Paris.
Whilst our room on the second floor was rather tired looking, it was clean and the bed comfortable. The view from our room, however, was lovely - though not to be compared with that from the tables on the ramparts terrace below. That view is truly spectacular - one of the most wonderful I've experienced in my seven trips to France. I likened it to winemakers' heaven It is truly spectacular - a veritable patchwork of shapes, colours and textures.
For dinner, we had the Tournedos Chavignolais (tournedos with goat's cheese sauce) and the Brochettes with St Jacques, mergez and poulet - both large serves, excellently cooked and well presented. Although dessert was not necessary, we managed to fit in a large plate of cheese and a chocolate liegois - both excellent.
Our total bill for a double room, pre-dinner drinks (Kir peche and a beer), dinner and a bottle of red wine was 114.80, which we thought to be excellent value.
