Restaurant La Tour deserves its one Michelin Star. The food and service were outstanding. The scallops were delicious. Everything was great except for the steak. The sauce with the steak was excellent but the steak was gristly. The cheeses were excellent but the 90 day old goat cheese was hard to take. The desserts were divine. We enjoyed a number of half bottles of wine which we really enjoyed. Overall, an excellent dining experience.

This was one of many destination cities in our trip through Bourgogne (even though it's slightly outside of the region) and we had read tripadvisor about restaurant la tour. It's all true. We walked in without a reservation, were seated next to the warming fireplace on a cold rainy, day. We ordered two different menus and our waiter suggested a perfectly matched Sancerre to accompany the meals. We did get menus in French, but despite our attempts to continue to communicate in French, the staff continued to interact in English.

They were celebrating some dishes of the season with cèpes, in particular, featured. There was a wonderful serving of ris de veau (sweetbreads) done very nicely and the magret de canard was exceptional. Red wines by the glass came out to match these meat courses.

Definitely worth the trip. Even though parking is always full, just around the corner are more spots that overlook the valley.

This quiet, lovely restaurant is located in the quaint wine town of Sancerre, France. It's nestled in the middle of the Sancerre wine district and really exemplifies all the charm and quality of that area. There were 8 of us and all of our meals were truly superb. Local ingredients prepared masterfully. I just wish it weren't so far away, as I would return often.

From the moment my wife and I walked in the front door to the late hour when we left, this was a lovely and totally satisfying experience. From a range of menus, we chose the 40 euros per head option, and it was unbelievably good value for money. The five courses showed imagination and innovation, one of the highlights for me being my 'queue de boeuf confite' The extensive wine list, which included lots of local wines, was fantastic, and definitely not a 'rip-off' as is the case in many establishments. The pace of service was perfect, and all the staff appeared to go out of their way to make it a memorable occasion,.Would strongly recommend to others and would love to return some day

As a German-Finish mixed golf-group we were visiting the La Tour as a one star restaurant (Guide Michelin) and were expecting something special.
The La tour is a very nice romantic restaurant in the middle of Sancerre with good wines (big winecard). The prices were too expensive for the offered dishes. In my case the quails were not sufiiciently desosser, hard and dry. However, all our chosen deserts were clearly outstanding.
If you are in that aera drive on to La Charité and eat at the "Milles et une feuilles": Half price and double quality.
