Villa du Parc
Reviewed 29 October 2011

Arrived at Prades quite late in the evening as part of our trip through the Pyrenees en route to Andorra. We hadn't made any reservation, but thought we would risk being able to find somehwere open - even though it was quite 'off season'. Prades was pretty much closed and we didn't hold out much hope of finding somewhere to stay. However, we stumbled upon the Villa du Parc. A quick read of Tripadvisor reviews confirmed our decision to stay overnight.

We were greeted by a german guy (our apologies for not asking your name and introducing ourselves properly) who owns the adjoining restaurant and who was looking after the hotel whilst the owners were away on a much deserved holiday. The hotel was closed for the week. However, on realising our predicament, he made a quick phone call and agreed to let us have a room for the night.

The room itself was absolutely spotless. The interior was a very pleasant blend of comfort, but with a very modern design outlook. We were delighted with our room and was just what we needed after a long day in the mountains.

Our very brief stay here was a highlight of our trip. The hospitality and generosity of spirit extended to us was incredible - even though we had essentially descended upon the hotel without reservation and whilst it was closed.

I would recommend the Villa du Parc in a heartbeat to anybody travelling in the area - even if you are 40-50km away, it's worth the travel.

A very friendly and comfortable place to chill out; The owners make the place extra special with friendly advice and an excellent knowledge of the local region; The restaurant is superb, indeed the best food we hve had on our travels, it is well located on the edge of the town with superb views, A place not to miss, we will come back.

We stayed here for 4 nights of a 2 week vacation - a Pyrenees region stop between Paris and Barcelona. The weather wasn't great and we thought about cancelling, but decided to give it a try for at least a night; we ended up wishing we could stay longer. The hosts are the kindest and most accommodating inn owners I've ever met. We did not have a car, which is apparently unusual for this area, but they picked us up at the train station on arrival, and brought us back to it when we left, without hesitation. They offered to drop us off and pick us up at all of our daily local excursions as well, of which there are plenty. Oh and they also serve absolutely delicious food. Dudes, get the steak. The grounds are relaxing and comfortable, GREAT for families. The owners are German, and can communicate in at least four languages, yet they apologize when they stumble on or forget a word in English! Just stay here already. Apparently the place has built a reputation as a biker destination for Europeans, of which there were a few groups during our visit. Americans (or anyone else who may interpret the biker reputation as a bad thing), make no mistake, this is not a brawling Harley-type biker place. It is a relaxing, peaceful place to stay.

I recently stayed at Villa du Parc for 7 days/nights and had a great stay in what is a lovely house and fantastic setting. The views to Canigou from the house and gardens make for a very relaxing location. The Owners Mireike and Oliver were very helpful and wonderful hosts. Their superb French, German and English make for an easy and educational stay

I'd highly recommend staying for any length of time and using the Villa as a base to tour the surrounding area. Prades also has most of what you need in local services if you are not eating at Villa du Parc.

This was one of the nicest B&B’s we’ve ever stayed in. It was clean, well run, beautifully appointed (not kitsch) and everything functioned perfectly from the modern shower to the automatic roll down black-out shades to the heating/cooling system with the remote controls. There are different rooms in the main house and small guesthouses so we didn’t see them all. But the one we stayed in was perfect. The breakfast was excellent and Mireike and Oliver were knowledgeable, helpful and enjoyable. They speak impeccable English, French and German. We were in Perpignan and planning our trip to the Solar Furnace in the mountains, when the weather turned miserable and foggy. We called ahead to make a possible reservation on the return leg. It was Oliver who checked locally and told us that the weather above 1000m was clear and that we should go ahead with the trip. It worked perfectly and staying with them was a delightful end to a wonderful day. We were only sad that they were already booked full for the next few nights, so we moved onward. But if we get a chance, we will return. It is almost worth the trip as a destination.
You may ignore reviews that have panned the value for unfathomable reasons. The people and the location are fantastic.

We read the previous reviews for this place, but not well enough because we missed the biker's paradise bit. Turning up in a small 'average' hire car with our teenage daughter, we were mis-fits. Everything written in previous reviews is true, and my husband who was a keen biker (pre-family and family responsibilities) (many moons ago) enjoyed talking to fellow guests. French chic this place is not. Clean and serviceable it is, though we felt it had been designed for a purpose - maximum income for minimum outlay. Seemingly a good going business, well done to the owners, but we felt we were dollars through the door. I would recommend this hotel as a stop over for bikers, but not particularly for friends who aren't.
