We keep coming back as no where else do we find ourselves feeling so relaxed and welcome. Everything everyone says about the facilities and comfort offered is true, whilst this lovely, spacious old house has a wonderful atmosphere. Prades itself is delightful - it is a lovely little town and there are usually events in the square on summer evenings and plenty to do during the day. We do not take a car and can really recommend the area for its cheap public transport (long bus trips to the mountains and the train to Perpignan are only 1 Euro) and Nick has lots of advise for walks from Prades. Walking and sightseeing in the warm Catalan sun can be follwed by a swim in the quiet and lovely pool in the garden, and an evening drink or supper on a shady terrace. Can't praise it enough.

Room Tip: We always enjoy having a room with a terrace and well worth getting if available. If not though we h...

When one is sightseeing, a B&B is a place to sleep, have breakfast, and head out to sightsee
At Kate and Nicks Villa - we were so comfy we didn't want to leave. Everything you needed was right there. Breakfasts were wonderful and there is even a fridge on the honour system should you want a cold beer or wine.
Swimming pool, gardens, and very friendly and helpful hosts. Wish we lived closer - we'd be regulars! Thank you

Room Tip: Try to get the rooms on the main floor - 2nd floor is ok, but closer to the attic and a little war...

Kate and Nick are wonderful hosts and run a most lovely B&B with a very relaxed atmosphere. They are extremely helpful and generous and have put lots of thought into ways of making travelers feel comfortable and welcome (e.g. honesty bar, all the help you can ask for regarding activities and local area restaurants, allowing take-away food brought back to and consumed at the B&B, allowing guests to make a small packed lunch at the breakfast buffet)
The house is beautiful and "Canigou" is a very lovely room, with a nice smell and a fabulous view of the mountains.
The breakfast is great; fresh breads, croissants, fruits, cheeses, and all the marmalades, Nutella etc. your children can dream of.
We spent 3 nights at Villa Fabrègue - loved it, and hope to come back.

Room Tip: "Canigou" and "Palm" both have nice terrasses and a lovely mountain view

A wonderful place to stay as you explore the beautiful Pyrenees -- with all those nearby delightful, cliff hanging French towns. Yet this Villa Lafabregue is safely away from the tourists. We stayed 4 nights (ask for the Palm room). We got tired of restaurants during our one month journey throughout France so we shopped at the large, well stocked supermarket and brought the food back to the villa's beautiful and welcoming environment. ... Stay here. The proprietors are warm and kind ... generous too. -- Oh, of course see the historic abbeys and that old, huge, ingenious siphon deep in nature, up the mountain -- (the siphon starts a small river that feeds the town.) But most of all, this B&B is about history, art, and joy of life.

Room Tip: The Palm room has the best balcony and view of the mountains.

Although we were in Prades during a rainy couple of days, we loved the views of snow-capped Mount Canigou from our room of that name, which had a large balcony. Breakfast was good and the house felt comfy - a family home rather than a "show house". We appreciated suggestions for dinner and for what to do in the rain! Only downside was that there was no stand-alone shower in the bathroom.

My husband and I recently spent two nights at the Villa Lafabregue in Prades, and I have to add a rave to all the others posted. The villa is a large 19th-century house surrounded by a garden in the residential section of Prades. Nick welcomed us in the late afternoon, helped carry our luggage up to the second floor, and made tea for us. A lovely welcome. We got upgraded to the largest room in the house, the Canigou, which also has a large private terrace. The view from our room--and also from the enclosed loggia on the main floor--is spectacular: the Canigou massif, which in May when we were there was snow-covered. Creating a welcoming and easy-going atmosphere, Nick and Kate make it possible to bring food in for lunch or supper to eat either in your room or in the breakfast area. They recommended an excellent restaurant on the central square--Le Patio--which was so good, we returned the second night for dinner. Also, while in Prades, don't miss visiting St Pierre, the village church. It has a severe exterior, but you will be surprised by the opulent decoration of the interior. Having spent two weeks on the road in Languedoc/Roussillon, I can say without reservation that this was by far the most pleasant accommodation we had.

Room Tip: Rooms with private terrace--Canigou and the Palm--have fabulous views.
