Just returned from a great week's stay in Luz, which turned out to be a perfect base for skiing and snowshoeing days at Ardiden, Gavarnie, Cauterets and Bareges. The studio is just on the edge of a pretty square (Place St Clement) which has very easy and convenient parking. There is a storeroom next door, accessed straight off the road, which was handy for storing skis, boots and anything not needed inside the studio. From the studio, it's a very short walk through lovely narrow streets of the oldest part of town to reach essential services like the Boulangerie Patisserie.
Service from the owner Christine was excellent, collecting the keys from her ski shop Ardiden Sports in the main town square. We also received exceptionally good and friendly service from Ardiden Sports for hire of skis and boots - and snowshoes (raquettes). (N.B. the inclusion of ski hire in the studio rental cost makes it extremely good value.)
The studio itself was warm, cosy and functional with lots of artistic touches as a bonus. The sleeping arrangement is a double bunkbed. There were only two of us, so we slept on the top bunk and left the lower as a very comfortable sofa - a bit too easy to fall asleep on, especially after a full day in the mountains, a big meal and a drop of red wine. The shower was great, always plenty of hot water. For the brief periods when we weren't eating or asleep, there was fast Wifi, a TV with stacks of DVDs and a CD player. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.
