“Well worth the money”
Reviewed 10 January 2013

First time we have used this chain of budget hotels. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient and spoke very good English. Our room was basic but absolutely spotless, rooms are not huge, but are more than adequate for an overnight stay. Shower gel dispensers are provided in the en-suite shower room, shower was nice and powerful with plenty of hot water, en-suite again isn't huge but big enough for its uses, and the shower itself is roomy. One tip I would give is to ask for a couple of extra pillows when you check in as there are only 2 in the room and these continental pillows don't seem to be as big or well stuffed as our ones in the UK. The hotel breakfast is well worth the price too, with scrambled eggs and bacon available as well as the usual continental stuff. Car park is secure and has ctv. Hotel is a fair bit out of Calais centre, but has an out of town shopping retail park very close by, takes about 2 mins to walk to it. There is a buffalo grill about 8 mins walk from the hotel and when we were there in Dec/12 and Jan/13 there was a 10% off for guests staying at the B&B hotel. Nice quiet area too.

We have stayed here many times en route for the UK. There is always a lovely welcome from the reception and the rooms are always clean and more that acceptable for the prices we pay. they are happy to accept our dogs for a small charge and the breakfast is quick and easy and you can eat as much as you want. Not bad for very little money!!

We stayed here on the night of 7th November. The rooms are accessed by a number punched into the door lock. The rooms are warm and when we were there it was very quiet. We had double beds that comprised a 6 inch mattress, on top of a board, on a low platform. Bedding was adequate but there is only one pillow per person. The TV has quite a few English channels, which makes a change. The bathroom has a shower, sink and WC with a large and small towel per person and a couple of disposable cups. There is shower gel in the shower but no soap in the sink. We had checked in by machine, which was great except it overcharged us on the tax (taxe de sejours). We had 3 rooms occupied by a total of 4 persons and were charged for 6. I emailed the company from home because I was not aware if they realised it was automatically assumed that each room would be double occupied. The hotel is close to a number of stores and an Auchan supermarket. We went to eat at CityEurope on a recommendation and took the bus from outside the hotel but had to taxi back because the bus doesn't run after 8.30 pm! Just a word of warning, it is now law in France to carry a breathalyser. They appear to have run out in France but we were able to purchase them at the AA in the Shuttle terminal. They were 6.99, not the 1 pound each we were led to believe.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the back.

We have used this hotel chain, for several years, as an overnight stop en-route to and from our house in south west France. We have generally been satisfied with the standard of accommodation, for the very low price, and the breakfast is decent, although we have become less than enamoured with them over the past year. I will comment on each hotel with a separate review. We were happy enough when we arrived for our first time at B&B Coquelles. The male receptionist was very friendly and helpful and the room was as requested, although very warm. I switched the heater control to blow cool but it continued to blow warm air. I eventually turned it off and opened the window. The room was still too warm to sleep comfortably. Being on the ground floor, several sets of guests walked past our room on their way into the hotel. Even though this continued to 1am, they were all very noisy, speaking loudly and laughing. In short, my wife and I had a very sleepless night and wished we had not bothered with an overnight stay. The identical situation occurred in Boulogne, back in July. We have now decided to find an alternative hotel chain until B&B install air conditioning. At least being able to keep the windows closed would help keep out the noise of inconsiderate guests. I have given three stars as this is not the fault of the staff, more to do with poor design.

Room Tip: The motel style, with outside walkways, makes it likely you will encounter other guest walking by at...

We booked a family room which had a double bed and bunk beds. The rooms are cosy but adequate for an overnight stay, our room was spotless and we found English channels on the TV so it kept my son happy! The beds are comfortable so we had a good nights sleep before we set of back to the UK. The staff were friendly and the breakfast OK with a decent selection of cereals and pastries. Very good value for money hotel, it's basic but absolutely fine!

I booked this hotel for an overnight stop based on the reviews on this website - never again. The room was very small as was the bathroom. The carpet was stained - as was the bedcover. The pillows were also stained - good job we had pillow cases with us so that we could double wrap them. My advice - pay for something better and smarter. I have posted these comments on to B&B's own review site.

This hotel is perfect for an overnight stay before catching an early Tunnel or Ferry crossing.
It is clean, tidy and very easy to get to and it is within minutes of the Tunnel terminal.
Situated about 10 mns easy drive to Calais centre where you can find restaurants for an evening meal.

The rooms are spacious, and there is also air conditioning for times when it can get hot.
The bathroom is a real bathroom with a little bit of space to manoeuver.

Tere is also a television opposite the bed.

Overall, great value for money. Bookig process on the website is really easy as is checkin.
Staff are available certain times of the day outside of these times a credit card will get you access to the room.
