An equally fab second visit to this “oh so charming cottage”
We returned for our second visit making sure we booked for two weeks this place makes time pass at an alarming rate the house was beautiful and very well equipped during our first stay but even so many things had been updated and replaced including some classy kitchen appliances, TV and DVD, new art on the wall, soft furnishings etc. as before it just has an altogether much cared for feel.
We did lots of cycling, visiting markets and took in a couple of delicious local restaurants sushi at La Flotte highly recommended but the highlight of this place is something fresh and simple severed in the private back court yard with its authentic stone walls covered in passion flowers and the glorious smell of lavender, you really feel like you are away from it.
Sadly the two weeks passed as quickly as one last year, what to do next year… off course we hope to be returning.

“Special Place”
Reviewed 24 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

A delightful and charming property. Great communication with owner and her representative on the lie de re. We had a wonderful return to the island and it did not disappoint , it is a very special place. Weather for us was mixed but if not cycling you can catch a bus for 1 Euro around the island. Try a trip out to the other villages, all have charm of their own. Just stopping for a coffee and hot chocolate and watch the world go by was a delight in itself. St Martin de re is a beautiful walled town with lovely harbour and some interesting shops and La Rochelle is well worth a visit on the bus ( 5 Euros). In closing, we would certainly return to this
charming property.

“Magnifique!”
Reviewed 6 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

My partner, dog and I stayed at the cottage for a late-summer break, and it does indeed live up to its name. Simply charming, and a perfect base for a couple visiting the island. It's tucked away in a quieter area of Il de Re, but the local square - a couple of minutes walk away - hosts a wonderful market (selling oysters, rotisserie, fruit and vegetable), newsagents, an excellent restaurant, a cheese shop and fishmongers. Walking to the excellent patisserie in the morning sun to pick up fresh bread and croissants was a delightful start to each day. There are also two bike hire shops (very friendly and inexpensive), and a good-sized supermarket within 15 minutes walk. The local beach is more on the 'rocky' side, but a perfect location to watch beautiful sunsets. And the busier harbour-side villages (La Flotte and St. Martin) are an easy 20 minute cycle away. The cottage itself is very clean, well-equipped and well-presented, including a lovely walled garden with barbeque, dining table and sun-loungers. Being met on arrival by Marie, who was helpful in suggesting local eateries and cycling routes, was much appreciated. All in all, a lovely place to stay on a very beautiful island. We will be back!

“A picture perfect retreat”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This beautiful cottage certainly lives up to it's reviews. No sooner have we arrived home, I am looking to book up to return to this fabulous place again!

The location was just perfect with all amenities on your doorstep, wonderfully tranquil and picturesque.

Everything you need has been thought of which made our stay so easy.

Can't wait to return, we had the greatest time here and would recommend this wonderful location on ile de re and cottage to anyone.

“Wonderfull House, we loved it!!!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Charming Cottage is exactly the right description. For two people this house is excellent, everything there, dishwasher, grill, WLAN, the bathroom is nice and spacy, the kitchen is very well equipped. The next bakery is only a few minutes walk and on the market you find fruits and vegetable, meat for the grill and also fish in a shop very near by. We feld like home after 2 days and we can highly recommend a stay in this wonderful place.
