“great hotel, family run”
Reviewed 24 July 2011

first visited this hotel a few years ago, and have always wanted to go back. stayed for two nights recently and were not dissapointed. Hotel was stilll great, and still run by the same family, who make you very welcome. Room was excellent, pool good, breakfast and lounge area fantastically decorated. Lovely Stay, we will be going back as soon as we can!!!!!

Spotlessly clean, freshly decorated (we assume) friendly hotel right on the (only average) beach. Would recommend Ile de Re nearby over Ile d'Oleron; but if you want to visit the island, this is a great choice. Walk to numerous restaurants and a few shops around the little fishing port. Note that is accessibility is an issue, there is no elevator. Great breakfast but only snacks for dinner. Free wi-fi but in a small lounge, not in many rooms.

A charming and personal hotel with a fantastic location. Beautiful building from the 30's with friendly and dedicated owners. The room was clean, big and quite cosy - the pool was lovely and the owners are apparently interested in design which you can notice in the lounge/breakfast room. The breakfast was ok but from a scendianvian perspective we would have appreciated cheese and eggs, however - the coffee and croissants were great!

A strong recommendation from us!

A rip off!! the name, description and photos are very misleading.
"Face aux flots" is a display of NO flots. You may see the water hiden by roof tops from the "De-lux rooms" 3 rooms with a tiny "balcony" exposed to the sun with of course no Air conditioning.
You enjoy the STRICT minimum, soap the size of your thumb, no kleenex, 2 tiny lamps with minimum light, like a 10 w . light bulb,(energy conservation, the nerve...) no coffee machine, etc...
This hotel might be convenient for the natives but not for tourists and certainly not for the US tourists.
Say the F..lots away from the " face aux Flots.

This hotel faces the waves and all day one can hear the waves beating on a slightly rocky coastline. No lift- so one has to drag the cases up a few flights. Breakfast was reasonable. Room nice and clean but decoration a little seasidish. As in all hotels I visited in France only a few boring french channels available. However Ile d'Oleron is a pretty place with lots to see and a few days were needed. I found the restaurants nearby in the Port to be disappointing- the settings were lovely but I suppose they have to make up for that in some way. We found lovely restaurants further inland such as Le Petit Coivre in St Pierre.

Good location, althought the beach in front is not the best in the island! Cozy restaurant: great fish dinners, even if there's almost one choice menu. Rooms are a little small but clean. Those in the front are bigger, newer and with the nice sea view; also they avoid the smell from the kitchen that sometimes -depending on the menu- hit those on the back.
