This is is many ways not really a hotel. It's more a selection of apartments, some rather grand, some quite small (like ours, still €400 a night in high season), but without much in the way of what you could call facilities.
There is a very pretty lounge-cum-entry hall, a very small dining room, a tiny but pretty courtyard and, er, that’s about it. There is no bar as such. The bijou swimming pool is actually at a nearby hotel, Villa Clarisse – a much more contemporary style property, in contrast to the very elegant and rather traditionally chintzy Toiras.
So what does the place have? Well, it has a fantastic location, right on the port, but quiet and secluded at the same time. It also has lots and lots of smart and charming staff, almost to excess. By the time the third person at breakfast has asked you if you slept well, you begin to want to respond: that’s my b***dy business!
We did not eat here, except at breakfast on the first day. Breakfast, though presented in best R&C style, was rather unexciting. The fruit salad, in particular, could have been a lot more interesting.
Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay. I suspect if we return, though, we might opt for something a little less traditional. Perhaps Villa Clarisse.More
