“A slice of paradise in the Luberon”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We had a lovely time at Les Terrasses du Luberon, with its friendly and knowledgeable hosts Jean Marc & Marie Laure. Very clean and comfortable rooms - we were in room 5, which stayed very cool despite scorching temperatures outside. The pool is a great place to cool off in after the days excursions - or first thing in the morning for those so inclined! Great breakfasts on the terrace overlooking a spectacular valley, with Mont Ventoux as a distant focal point. Breakfast highlights included Marie Laure's home made figue jam with a 'secret' ingredient that we were invited to guess and the curiousity that is 'the boiled egg cutter' !! Not as easy to use as it looks, but great fun!! Agree with other reviewers that the shared kitchen is a great asset. Lovely 10 minute walk into Bonnieux for meals each evening - two outstanding restaurants are L'Arome and Le Fournil. Tip - take a small torch with you as the street lights run out a little before Les Terrasses du Luberon on the way back from your evening meal. Thank you Jean Marc and Marie Laure - we hope to visit again, but in the meantime please pass on our best regards to Capitaine Haddock!! Andrew and Lucy Kantaris

This beautifully situated guesthouse defined our love for Provence and the Luberon. We were fortunate enough to be able to extend our stay from 3 to 4 nights and wish we had stayed longer. The rooms and adjoining bathrooms are large, well designed, fresh and spotlessly clean. Each room had a private terrace offering breathtaking views over the Luberon valley. The small kitchenette available to guests was fabulous for storage and preparation of delicacies purchased at one of the markets or Bonnieux itself. It is a very easy and beautiful walk into Bonnieux for dinner in the evening. Jean- Marc and Marie-Laure are charming, hospitable and knowledgable hosts - Jean-Marc making wonderful suggestions for excursions in the area. As it was our first trip to Provence we felt compelled to explore the area, however we would love to return and relax and enjoy the ambience of Les Terrasses du Luberon.

Les Terrasses du Luberon has a most beautiful setting on the side of the hillside just outside Bonnieux, looking across the plain to Mont Ventoux in the distance. Each room opens on to the terrace and has its own sitting area. One excellent feature is a kitchen, with fridge and microwave, china, glassware and cutlery for use of guests, so you can roam around the markets, choosing the delightful local produce to enjoy on your terrace, watching the sun set. Our room was tastefully decorated, with good quality bedding and towels (lovely contemporary-design bathroom) and very comfortable, large double bed. Towels also provided for the pool, which although not large is lovely - again with a beautiful view of the surrounding vineyards and hillside.

Jean Marc and his wife look after their guests so well and John Marc doubles as a tour guide - working out that we wanted long hikes in quieter areas and made excellent suggestions and provided OS style maps to accompany them. He will also make reservations at the local restaurants - an enjoyable ten minutes walk away in Bonnieux. Breakfasts are good, the high spot being the home made jams, some made with home grown fruit.

Bonnieux is an excellent centre for visiting this part of Provence, a beautiful village but not so tourist-beset as nearby Gordes or Rousillion. Enjoy Provence slowly, stay at Les Terrasses for a week and walk in the surrounding hills amongst the wild lavender.

Room Tip: Didn't see all the rooms, but number 2 was great.

We had a wonderful time here and stayed for four nights. Could easily have stayed longer. A very cozy and clean room with a large and spotless bathroom and a lovely private terrace. Everything was top notch. Nice breakfast, the best on our trip two weeks trip in France. Good location, just a short walk to the nearby beautiful village of Bonnieux. Lovely and very helpful couple who run the place. A fine little swimmingpool and beautiful surroundings. Access to kitchen with refrigerator where you could prepare lighter meals (sallads etc.), the or coffee and store some nice rosés.

The only minor negative thing was poor wifi (hardly worked in the room) and vegetation that largely obscured the beautiful view over the valley from our terrace. It would have been nice to see more of the beautiful valley and hilltop villages from the terrace if the vegatation in front of the terrace was much lower.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 which had the biggest bathroom and also a room with three big beds. Though this...

One of the best places we have been in Provence. At the edge of the village of Bonnieux (one of the best in Luberon...you can go by feet from the house) but very quiet, with five indipendent and spacious rooms each one with a terrasse, a little but ok swimming pool and a balcony for breakfast is a very sweet and relaxing place. The view from the balcony is stunning until Gordes and Lacoste. The owners are a very kind couple, always willing to help. We stayed for five days and it was a great long weekend. Near Bonnieux you can visit nice places like Lourmarin, Oppede Les Vieux, Menerbes and obviously Gordes and Isle Sur La Sorgue.

I stayed four nights at Les Terrasses du Luberon 4-8 July 2014. Our hosts Jean Marc and his wife were so kind and thoughtful to us. We were not touring with a car so relied on local knowledge about getting around to see the best sights. Jean Marc also offer to give us a lift to a local market one day as they were going themselves. Of course we were delighted to go and accepted the kind invitation. The accommodation was spacious and modern. Delightfully big bathroom and we also had the opportunity to catch up with washing clothes. Bliss! The accommodation also provided a small shared kitchen etc. so it was no problem to have a small meal or drink at home watching the sunset over the rolling fields. The pool was a welcome delight and having only 5 bedrooms was quiet and really pleasant. On leaving, we required a taxi to drive to Avignon which Jean Marc organised. Our whole experience at Les Terrasses was exceptional and would highly recommend it to anyone with or without a car. Enjoy it if you stay there.
