We decided that we wanted to spend Christmas in the snow and had heard that Meribel was lovely; charming, rustic and a great ski area. So, I 'googled' Meribel and "fishandpips" came up on my search for chalets - http://www.fishandpipsmeribelskichalet.co.uk/
I thought their website was fantastic and seemed that they were offering exactly what we wanted for a superb festive break in the snow, so I was detemined to find a chalet that suited. We were a party of 2 families - 4 adults and 4 teenagers (ranging drom 12-18). We booked back in June and during the months lead up had many questions, all of which Holly answered fully and with the utmost professionalism. Nothing was left to chance, everything was perfectly planned and organised. We drove down to the Chalet in 2 days and were met by our Chef, Kevin and Chalet Host, Fiona and also by Phillipa (the Pips of fish and pips) and were helped with our bags to the chalet. The chalet is perfect for 2 famillies as the bedrooms are arranged on separate floors, giving some space and privacy. The chalet was comfortable and rustic and kept beaultifully clean and tidy by Fiona.
Kevin and Fiona would arrive at 7.30 each morning to lay the table and make breakfast for 8 which would consist of anything from porridgbe, pastries, full cooked or french stick, all beautifully presented and cooked. This was then tidied up by Fiona whilst we went on our way skiing. Some of us were new to skiing and had arranged lessons, so the driver - Mark would pick us up at 8.50 and take us to the slopes. He was also available for pick ups and trips after 5 every day - Fantastic Service Mark - thanks!!
At the end of a skiing day we would ski back to the chalet to find a freshly baked cake awaiting and relax in the hot tub - life couldn't be better. This was regularly checked and was spotless.
Every evening (except one, the chalet staff day off) we would have canapes and a 3 course meal cooked by Kevin - all superb and given that we had a non fish eater, vegetarian and non red meat eater in our party that did involve quite a few meals! All our wine, beer and soft drinks were included and were plentiful.
Meribel Village is lovely, it has a Spar and a bar called The Lodge which regularly has live bands for the Apres Ski between 5-7pm.
I cannot espress what a wonderful holiday we had in Chalet Aurigny with Fish and Pips and their team and was a bit loathe to write this review as they probably will get booked up before we can book again for next Xmas - which we definately will want to do....
