Excellent service, superb food, beautiful decor, a lovely dining experience. The views are also stunning from the restaurant. You can ski to it in winter, then they take you by mini bus back to the lift i Meribel Village. A great service, to then ski off the lunch!

We ate in the Plantin restaurant last week for the first time in a long time. What we discovered was truely a first class dining experience. We were warmly greeted by our waiter for the evening, Alex and we had pre-dinner drinks at the bar. Wild Boar paté and local hams were just a few of the pre-dinner nibbles we enjoyed. We were then shown to our table in the beautiful restaurant. The decor is authentic and stylish, every detail has been carefully thought out (even down to a humourous touch in the toilets!) and it creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Our meal was divine. My friend ordered jerusalum artichoke soup - it was to literally to die for. I had hot foie gras - again delicious. For the main course we had a selection of dishes, spring lamb, lake fish with aspagarus butter and filet of beef. I tried them all (!) and each dish was beautifully presented and a joy to eat. The portions sizes were generous without being obscene.
We had eaten very well during first 2 courses so decided against dessert until Alex persuaded us to try a cafe gourmande. What a joy! It was a stunning dessert comprising of about 5 smaller desserts (see photo) and an expresso coffee. Exquisite. The owner Robert joined us at the end of the meal and offered us a local tipple made with a local plant and some strong alcohol but it was a perfect end to a wonderful evening. The service was faultless, the food amazing (so much better than some star rated restatuants in this area) and the welcome warm and friendly. I cannot recommend Le Plantin highly enough. Thank you Robert, it was a fantastic evening.

I'll start with the end result of our dinner here. All of the people on our table who had steak got food poisoning. Because of this I'd highly recommend not eating here.

We came here on our chalet night off. We were told the restaurant's expensive but the food's good. As well as the food posioning, unfortunately the service was not up to scratch, for the following reasons.

-Two of our group were given their main course before their starters which is plain odd.
-The waitress cleared the main course plates away before two of our table had finished eating. In fluent French, we asked her to wait but she continued clearing the table saying it was 'necessary'. We still don't know why she felt the need to do this, they weren't having a second sitting.
-The general manor of our waitress was rude and aloof.

While the food was good, we didn't feel it was good enough to justify the price. And we don't object paying over the odds for excellent food.

As you can imagine, food poisoning and skiing don't go hand in hand and the second half of our holiday was affected. A real disappointment.
