This chalet was booked via Ski Total for a group of 17.
Location: about 15 minute pleasant walk to town and main ski lifts. In the alps the views were spectacular from the balcony. Ski total offered free shuttle service between 8 and 10 and the 4 and 6. Firly good service.
Rooms: unfortunately, the bedrooms are looking shabby now and bathrooms some new showers; our shower door fell off but I managed to fix it. The beds were ok and some guest complained of dips in the bed. I would recommend, if possible, bringing your own pillow. The main guest area is fine and basic with a beautiful log fire and views to the mountains. The kitchen was super small but as we had hosts we were not to use the equipment for health & safety as thy cooked for us every night. There is also a sauna and ski storage area downstairs.
Cleanliness: I am not convinced that the ski total host cleaned well. The dust in the room was appauling and I don't believe my bed sheets had been changed. The toilet remained grubby although my bin was emptied, and don't expect clean towels if you get yours dirty by accident. I am reassured that clean towels at least are provided as there was a bag full of clean towels, and hopefully linen, waiting by the front door when we left. Also, the drains wreeked enough to make you curl your nose up. Finally, the jacuzzi may have been clened but the water will not be changed for the duration of your stay.
Service: this made up for cleanness issues. Hosts were great and amazing cooks. They arranged for everything and last minute, too.
Overall, if you are looking for a place to bunk then this is a good place and is nothing more than a bunk house / back packers with some great service thrown in. There may be some backpackers in Meribel, but I doubt they will be cheap! I paid basically about £120 per day for 7 days that included flights from UK, airport transfer, breakfast, dinner, shuttle bus to town, what felt like unlimited wine, ski hire, and 7 day lift pass. I am not sure you could get much cheaper than this? For £40 more then you could upgrade it to 4* chalet which is what I will be doing next year. Ski total were really good and the chalet was basic, unfortunately the cleaning standards and aged worn bathroom let it down. Time for n upgrade or give it a facelift!
