“A Great Pieseful Base”
Reviewed 19 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

This a is a very clean, well located and well designed apartment that is about 30m away from a ski-bus stop. It is ideal for families because the room sizes are large (for an alpine apartment) and it is in a reasonably quiet location that is about five minutes by bus from Meribel Mottaret and ten minutes from Meribel Centre.

The owners are really helpful and provive all one needs to have a great stay in this apartment, including UK conversion plugs, bedding, towels, cleaning materials, decent glassware, crockery and cookware. It also comes with a good hifi, wifi and a large TV with British channels. Its location means that it also comes with free parking.

The only slightly negative point regarding this apartment is that its main entrance is off a boot/ski store area, which did not present too many challenges for our party - other than being a bit smelly first thing in the morning.

“Lovely little apartment”

Our ski trip to Meribel was for my husbands birthday with 2 friends, the apt was very close to the bus stop, 20 yards at the bottom of the hill where the free ski bus took us into meribel in 15 mins, they ran very frequently until midnight which was ideal for going into town at night as there aren't any shops or bars in the Chandon area.
The apartment was small but furnished lovely and had everything we needed for our stay and it was in a nice and very quiet area.
The owners were very cooperative and emailed us a very helpful and detailed booklet of the apartment and directions how to get there from airport.
If we came back to ski at Meribel we would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

“Beautiful Apartment in Great Location”
Reviewed 24 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed at Apartment La Voute during the Feb half term, and based on previous experience of French Ski Apartments, were slightly nervous about what we would find on arrival. However, the photos really do the place justice. It is a great apartment with lots of character, which although not huge (French ski apartments never are) had more than enough space for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The kitchen/living room is very nicely furnished, with everything you could need including UK TV, wifi and a decent sound system. The beds are very comfortable and there is constant hot water in the decent shower. The underfloor heating keeps the place warm and cosy, so much so that after a hard days skiing, we were more than happy to stay in at night and just relax rather than go to Meribel for dinner. There is a local pizza place who will deliver to Chandon as well.

The free ski bus is about 30 metres from the apartment and is bang on time. It takes about 8 minutes to Meribel Village (Golf Chairlift) and 12 minutes to Chaudanne (main lift point in Meribel). When returning from skiing, the bus doesn't stop at the same place as Chandon is a one-way street, but stops about 400m away on the main road. With ski boots on, this is quite a walk, therefore, as a recommendation, stay on the bus to Les Allues and wait until it turns round and comes back up the hill, stopping in the middle of the village. This only takes about 7 minutes extra but is worth it when you have tired legs.

The Meribel/3 Vallees ski area is superb, with lots of variety and excellent groomed pistes with some good off-piste as well. The ski back on the Villages Red Run is a bit difficult the first time you do it, but once you know where you're going, is very easy, apart from the last 50m off-piste. However, it is quite flat in places and snowboarders will need to maintain speed if they don't want to walk for part of the way.

The only criticism of Chandon is parking. While there is car parking just down the road, this got full very quickly and could mean parking a few hundred metres away. It may have been because the place is so busy during half term week/peak season. That said, once you've parked, you don't really need to use the car as the bus is so good and takes you to the centre of Meribel in the evenings as well, with a regular reliable service.

The owners, Dan and Victoria, were great in their comms both before and during our stay, and really care about ensuring that everything is OK for guests. We had a minor issue with understanding the heating on arrival, but after a quick call, it was easily resolved.

The acid test of any holiday is would you return? In this case, absolutely, and we plan to do so next year if it is available!

“Very cosy and relaxing accommodation”
Reviewed 16 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Apartment la voute is full of character and a lovely place to relax after a days skiing. Away from the bustle and noise of the ski areas we enjoyed having our own space and experiencing a small french village. The apartment is really well appointed with a great kitchen and comfortable sofas to stretch out on! The double bed was very comfortable but my 18 year old felt a wee bit cramped in the twin room. The only reason we have not given the apartment 5 stars is that we had to clean the plughole in the shower to help the water drain away which was more than gross! However Dan was very helpful in explaining by e-mail that that would solve the problem, which we appreciated! There is no view from the apartment and no boulangerie close by :-( ...but other than that we cannot fault the accommodation. Lovely place, quiet and comfortable.

“Cozy place off the beaten track”
Reviewed 4 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

This is a very nice appartment, nicely furnished and with all the equipment you need for a week. Bed pillows and duvets were top quality, the TV and hifi great and the kitchen had all you could ask for.
We stayed a week with three kids. Worked just fine.
Taking the bus in the morning is very easy but on the way back it stops on the main road giving you a 300-400m uphill walk. The piste Villages was closed the whole week but we managed to take it once. Then you get only a 50m walk back to the house.
Would highly recommend this.

“I came back - and still amazing”
Reviewed 9 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

After a fantastic stay last year I decided to revisit again for new year - I wasn't disappointed. The chalet was clean, warm, homely and fully equipped with everything in good condition. Such a great place to stay, and really relaxing to comeback to after a hard day on the slopes. Will keep on coming back for sure.
