Pierre & Vacances Premium Residence Les Crets
Reviewed 12 February 2014

We spent 5 nights for Christmas and everything turned out better than we had expected. The residence is up the hill and has an elevator that takes you down just to the ski platform of the ski resort Mottaret. For skiing you have everthing you need: ski schools, ski acces to Meribel and Courchevel is easy as to Val Thorens and Les Menuires. The positives: the place is very quiet, modern, and with an amazing view of the slopes. Try to check in early because Pierre et Vacances does not accept reservations in advance for parking lots and there are truly very few spaces available. The negatives: the place is sort of isolated, up a hill and with very little to do beyond skiing. Cleaning was not perfect. And it is sort of pricy too if you take in account that apartments are NOT very spacious. Forget the coach in the living room: not suitable for adults (thin kind of mattress). And DO NOT expect premium services: the front desk has restricted opening hours and beds are made in the bedroom but not in the living room coach. There is this thing of abandonment after 20 pm: if you have a problem (water, lights, whatever) you have to contact a service standard which is located in other village! But it is a nice place and for a week it can be very comfortable.

Nice residence in a good place! Ski in/out is available only if your ski level is higher then "beginner". Everything was good, comfortable and clean. Only one thing was not very comfortable for me - it's not very good free wi-fi. I surely recommend this residence!

Here in Les Crets Motterat at the minute. Accommodation well placed. Close to shops and lifts however the ski out option is onto the bottom of a red slope but very manageable however the ski in option is accessed by skiing down quite a long red slope so not for everybody. However option to take funicular down and back each day. Two bed apt is compact but very well presented . Spotless on arrival. Sleeps 3 adults and two children comfortably. 6 adults would be pushing it. Separate toilet, bathroom with shower over bath and a shower room which is fantastic ... Means 3 can use facilities at same time. Lots of towels and extra sheets. The kitchen is well equipped with hob microwave dishwasher and lots of pots and crockery. Supermarket close by and another bigger cheaper one in Motterat square approx 300 m away. Great resort with access to the other valleys. Will definitely return.

A P&V Premium Residence, features of which have been described by other reviewers. We stayed in a 2 bedroom (for up to 6). Okay for 4 adults and 2 kids, but quite intimate if trying to squeeze in 6 adults - 2 on convertible sofa bed in living room. That said, it had a bathroom, separate shower room and separate toilet. Sensible. Reasonable kitchen, large fridge and well-equipped including - of course - corkscrew and oyster opening knife. But bring your own paper filters for coffee machine. Large balcony. High level of cleanliness, comfort and facilities (clean and dry ski storage room, ski in/out access - but perhaps not for absolute beginners, proximity to shops, ski hire, ski school meeting area, and main Mottaret buildings). The beds are fine, the linen are of good quality and the premium tolietries supplied was a good touch. There were other facilities we did not use (e.g. boulangerie delivery). The covered car park was at most 2 minutes walk from the apartments. Beware, Les Crets is right at the top of the steepish Route du Chatelet and driving on it (without winter tyres) could be challenging if it's snowing heavily.
Downsides: the (free) WIFI was adequate in speed but our iPads needed to be logged in every time we wanted to use it. So this means logging in many times per day; sometimes several times an hour. This needs tweaking by the service provider (or we were doing something wrong!). Selection of TV channels limited - about 3 or 4 watchable french channels. Nowadays an English language channel would be nice (the channels offered included italian and spanish) and probably Russian as well! This is a 4 or 4+ star residence if, say, Arc 1950 is a 5 star residence. Mottaret/Meribel is better (than Arc1950) for non-skiers and dog owners - lots and lots of walking options; better selection of restaurants in Mottaret in my view; and easy access to other parts of the resort.
In summary, if going to Meribel again I would not hesitate to stay at Les Crets. Have stayed in Meribel twice before, I think I prefer Mottaret - smaller and more intimate.

Room Tip: We faced the courtyard and it was fine and not noisy. I don't think it really matters where you...

This was our first time in a P&V premium place and we loved it. The ski in/out was fab especially when you've got kids who've got to get to ski school by 9am. The ski in might be tricky for complete beginners - we didn't have a problem with it though. Ski school was just a 2 min ski down the slope.

The apartment was lovely, clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils. The fridge was big and the 4 ring ceramic hob was excellent. Plenty of storage and surfaces.

We booked a 4/5 apartment for the 4 of us and we got a twin bedroom with a really big double pull out sofa in the lounge- this was very easy to convert. There was loads of storage.
The bathroom was a good size with a bath/shower. The loo was separate.

The ski lockers were large and even had heated ski boot holders!

We booked a space in the underground car park which was useful.

The funicular takes you straight from the hotel door down the slope where there is a good supermarket and a few shops. The main centre is a short walk.

Great place with easy access to the ski lifts.

Room Tip: Go for an apartment 1 bigger than your party- the extra space is worth it.

big fan of the P&V Premium offering (Menuires Reberty and Arc 1950 offer great residential options with a good combination of services, amenities, location) but this time huge disap. with this "refreshed" building which does not match is premium label: employees are not very engaged to say the least, the lift did not work the two week-ends we were there, no parking space available (the public parking is far away down the village), one of our bath room smelled badly and there was a durty ashtray on our balcony letf from previous smokers... we had much more luck with the weather (6 days of blue skies and mild temp.) and the ski area is just amazing (3 vallées)... net net, go to Meribel Montaret but forget this residence

My boyfriend and I stayed at Les Crets for 5 nights and I must say that we were very pleased with the standard of accommodation. The apartments are traditional both in design and decor, and were very homely and comfortable.
The apts are located in Meribel Motteret, a short drive from Meribel itself. There are supermarkets and shops within walking distance and everything else is a short drive away.
The apt was split level and very spacious. There was plenty of crockery/cutlery and utensils as well as TV and WIFI access. Lots of clean bedding and towels, too. The apts are on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, which meant we had plenty of excellent walks etc within walking distance.
I would recommend a trip to the Alps in summer - lots of fresh air, excellent walks and fantastic views.
Les Crets offers very good, reasonably priced accommodation in an excellent location, my only little gripes are that the residence isn't very clearly signposted at the 2nd roundabout in Meribel Motteret which meant that we drove to Lake Tueda by mistake, and the sofa cushion covers were slightly ripped. Also, the reception is only open for a couple of hours in the morning and evening and is completely closed on Wednesday. Not really a problem, apart from the fact that Pierre et Vacances customers can use the Olympic pool in Meribel, but when we arrived for a swim we were told that we'd need to get a voucher from the Les Crets reception - which was closed. The receptionist mentioned the pool when we checked in, but did not mention that we needed vouchers - so no swim for us!
Overall, we'd definitely stay here again.
