Great lunch. Homemade corn tortillas, carnitas, refried beans and fresh pico de gallo. Not fancy, but excellent food and friendly service for a fair price! Generous portions!

Six of us visited recently and will not return. Food was marginal at best. Only one waitress for the small place and she doubles to check you out. Guacomole side wasn't good and very overpriced. We had many items from the menu. Fish tacos were bad, chorizo burrito was low end tex-mex. and none of this takes into account that the air con was either broken or they use a few room airconditioners of unacceptable capacity. Going in we weren't looking for Taos/Sante Fe type food but this meal didn't measure up to even the worst of the chain tex mex restaurants. Additionally there is only one table for more than four people. The restaurant configuration doesn't lend itself to create more. Children at the next table trashes the floor with salsa and it was never cleaned up. Just a poor experience all around.

Was driving by this place and decided to stop in to grab a bite to eat. Was totally not what I expected and was more than surprised for the good!! Really good food and large portions to be had here. Everything tasted really fresh and you could tell it was made to order. Highly recommend this place!!

If you are looking for Mexican fast food, this is as authentic as you are going to get in this area. The meals are great, the wide variety of salsa's will satisfy any taste from mild to on fire.

I first happened upon Los Paisas Locos about two years ago based on a recommendation. This place doesn't look like much from the outside (or inside, quite frankly), but it cranks out amazing food. I've had their burritos and their tacos, and both are outstanding. This is not cheap, Americanized food; it is made with care and authenticity, while not pretending to be more than it is. The menu includes a number of items you won't find at most standard Mexican restaurants. I've had a lot of Mexican food and Los Paisas is among the best I've ever had (certainly the best in the Newport News area). Their salsa bar includes 8-10 varieties of homemade salsas. In terms of value, you can expect to pay around $9 for a regular burrito (which is a bit pricey to me), but the quality is really great and the portion is massive. Realistically two people could share a regular burrito and be satisfied. If you're not caught up in atmosphere, give this place a shot and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
