This hotel is a great place to stay in the lovely town on the Rhine River. The owner is helpful & friendly, the hotel is conveniently located, clean, quiet, priced fairly with a good breakfast. We were on one of the top floors, so the narrow winding stairs could be a problem if a person has problems walking or has large luggage.
Otherwise - perfect!

We were there in September - location easy to get to, room spacious, clean and equipped with all the amenities we needed including WIFI- nothing fancy but nothing missing. Very traditional feeling. We were very pleased.
Caveats: Take your key with you always, as front door sometimes locked during the day and if you have trouble with stairs, check that your room will be accessible for you - no elevator and stairs to upper floors are steep.

Hotel 1st. Try to remember that the 1st floor is on the American second floor and unfortunately the 3rd floor is on the American 4th floor AND the staircase is very narrow, so if travelling with a lot of luggage look for hotel with elevator. Also, they are doing construction on the charge across the narrow street so very noisy and, for such a small street and small town there really are quite a few cars going by. The breakfast buffet is just OK. The parking is not a problem just bring money to feed the meter 1 and 2 E coins.

The town is just too cute. Doesn't feel real. Took the boat to St. Goar and back. Not sure what I was expecting, but river no more and probable less beautiful than many others (Seine. East, Douro, etc.).

Restaurants we ate in we OK, but nothing special, but people were lovely. Difficult to engage our hostess.

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage stay close to ground floor.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of August. The location is perfect - right in the town center with no train noise (we kept our windows closed). You can easily walk to this hotel (or really any hotel in Bacharach) from the train station. The lack of A/C was not a problem for us - it was quite chilly at night in August. However, the lack of an elevator was a bit of a downside - our room was on the third floor and we had to carry our bags up a lot of flights of narrow, creaky stairs (we knew there was no elevator when we booked of course, but the stairs really are extremely narrow and other guests carrying bags and coming and going creates quite a bit of noise in the hallway) . The hotel is not as charming and historic as many others in Bacharach, but the rooms are large, the bathroom is modern and the owner is very polite and professional - and the price is great! The breakfast is like most other hotels in Germany - a selection of breads with jam, cheese and cold meats plus yogurt and granola etc... perfectly adequate, but there is a delightful little pastry shop just down the street that has some of the most amazing pastries in Europe. Other items to be aware of - there is no safe in the room (I really like to lock up our passports when we are out sightseeing for the day) and there is no mini fridge (I always end up with leftovers from dinner, but I couldn't take them back). I would definitely recommend this hotel, you just need to go into it with the right expectations.

We are a family of four (2 elementary school kids) and Hotel zur Post was our first stop in Germany. The location is right in city center, but you need to be aware that parking is on the main street and bring coins (no notes). The hotel is basic, clean, roomy and very pleasant. We didn't mind the lack of A/C, it wasn't needed when we travelled in early August, I also didn't really hear train noise and we slept with the windows open (we could be exhausted though). Overall, I would recommend this hotel, it is not historic nor charming, but clean, tidy and roomy, I am very pleased with it.
The owner was polite and professional. The complimentary breakfast, like all German's Inns/Hotel, was AWESOME!
We would recommend it.

We stayed for two nights while exploring the Rhine River. This is a great location, and the proprietor is very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although air conditioning would be nice. Train noise is loud with the windows open, but I think this is an issue throughout Bacharach, so bring earplugs! The included breakfast was very nice.

Stayed here for 3 nights & we were very pleased. The room was a good size with a modern bathroom. Breakfast selection was very varied and should suit most tastes. Very central location in the charming old part of town. Only downside is the cobbled street is a bit noisy when you have the windows open.
