Plus:

-The hotel is situated very nicely close to the beach. Just exit through the balcony exit and walk 10 meters and you are right at the beach. At the same time it is in the city centre with short distances to everything.
-Fast and well functioning free wifi at the hotel with good range. You can actually surf the net without problems at the beach as long as your not too far away from the hotel.
-The air-condition in my room actually worked without problems.
-The personal clean your room and give you fresh towels every day (except sunday).
-Your own fridge in the room.
-Two layers of doors out to the terrace to keep the temperature down and the light out.

Minus:
-The beds are the hardest and least comfortable I have ever slept on. Have never ever noticed or complained that a hotel bed anywhere (I am used to low standard hotel rooms) have felt hard or unconfortable, but the ones at this hotel were ridiculosly hard. I managed to ignore it and were able to sleep, but if you have trouble sleeping at a hard and uncomfortable madress then stay away. The pillows are also far too thick and felt even more uncomfortable than the madrass. So bring your own.
-Sand everywhere in the hotel. They could have avoided this by simply placing a hose outside the terrace entrance so people could wash sand off their feet and sandals when they came right from the beach. This way most of the sand would have stayed outside and would have saved the guest from a lot of frustration and the personal from a lot of cleaning.

Asteria Hotel was perfect for us, and location couldn't be better!. It's located right on St. George beach and we felt a good value at 60 euro per night for a double in July (70 euro for triple). Our rooms were simple, but comfortable and clean with lovely views and balconies overlooking the sea. Rooms seemed spatious enough for two people although the bathroom was on the small side but still functional. St George has a very nice white sand beach with crystal clear water and is only a 5 minute walk into the main town of Chora (Naxos town). Several tavernas and cafes nearby and you can rent umbrellas/sunbeds on the beach for a few euro. Despite beach-front location, our rooms were very quiet at night. Hotel serves a nice and hearty breakfast (5 euro per person) consisting of coffee, tea, juice, breads, cakes, cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt and honey, sliced meats and cheeses, and boiled eggs. There is a large terrace off the main reception area where you can enjoy your breakfast along with the sea views. The terrace steps directly down to the beach which is very convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful and we received free transfers to and from the port which was a nice plus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

This hotel wasn't really what we expected from what we saw in the web site, so keep that in mind. The rooms were a bit small, and somewhat spartan. The bathroom is REALLY small, but big enough for two people. What makes up for it though is the balcony with a table and a couple chairs with the view of the ocean.

Breakfast was complimentary and they had a lot to offer, from bread to eggs to cereal and yogurt and you can enjoy your meal outside on the veranda which is really nice. The reception staff is incredibly friendly and enjoyable to talk with, although some aren't too good with English. A little gesturing gets you a long way.

The hotel location is excellent - with St George's Beach right in the "backyard" and it's a few minutes walk to port where all the action is. It's also right near several food markets, bars, restaurants and a few car rental places so you won't feel stranded there. If you're up for a few drinks, I'd recommend heading over to El Kasto just a block away. Great friendly service and the beer's always fresh and cold.

Overall - we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, although we were surprised to see the rooms weren't what they seemed in their web site. So just be prepared for that, but I'd still definitely recommend this place for the location, the service and the accommodations are sufficient if you're not too fussy.

Right on the beach. The transfer from the port to the hotel never showed up so we can to take a cab but the hotel reimbursed us, which was nice.

Location was definitely excellent. This hotel was recommended in the lonely planet guide as one of the best. We were very disappointed. The location IS excellent indeed and we had a room right on the water, but the receptionist/owner was not very nice. I suppose was hoping for an upper scale hotel. Breakfast was miserable! The first day we had breakfast at the hotel. We were charged €5 euros each and my husband didn't eat anything.
Rooms are very 1970s and haven't been updated since, except for hairdryers and a fridge.
But then again, we only paid €60 per night for sea-front accomodation! The hotel was full with people over 60 so it's nice and quiet.

I was traveling with my 10 year old daughter and 78 year old mother and the hotel was perfect for both. Right on the beach and our room overlooked the water. Perfect for when my mom had had enough sun for her to go back and relax while my daughter and I enjoyed the beautiful crystal clear sandy water. George picked us up at the dock when our ferry arrived and dropped us off for our departure. He was nice enough to make a stop at the bakery on our return trip so we could buy some breakfast for our ferry back to Pireaus. Yogurt with honey, eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, bread & butter & marmalade along with coffee and juice in the morning for breakfast. The rooms were immaculate and kept clean by their wonderful staff. We are looking forward to our return trip!

We were thrilled when we got to the Asteria. Right smack bang on Ag. Georgios beach which is perfect if you have young kids but otherwise is still gorgeous! Crystal clear, aquamarine water but is kneedeep til about 75 metres out. We got shown to our room after being picked up from the Port and couldn't believe it. We had a huge terrace outside out room for us, with tables and chairs...but the view, wow. A few trees in front of us, some lovely flowers then the sand and beach, completely uninterrupted - gorgeous! The room was great, fridge etc but I had to ask for a kettle. You are pretty much located at one end of the esplanade along the marina which is great. There is a fabulous little supermarket opposite for all you need and then its a lovely walk through the centre to all the restaurants and shops. We had very little to do with the staff here but we were very happy with the hotel.
