wow! what more can I say - well lets start with the cost, it is very affordable and I wish I could have stayed longer at this Hostel. Located about a 35min drive from Amalfi in a beautiful town that is not full of tourists, but your typical Italian families. There is a fantastic Italian restaurant just around the corner, which the hostel will recommend to you. DO NOT MISS IT. Staff here where friendly and helpful, the hostel is clean and have a great atmosphere. book a few nights and do some of the local hikes and you will want to live here. highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at Beata Solitudo for four nights in September 2010. Hopefully nothing has changed in the last two years because we had an incredible experience staying here. We had a private room in the B&B section which at the time cost 70 euros per night. Given the level quality and comfort of the room we stayed (king sized bed, plasma TV, sweet balcony, big clean modern bathroom), the price was an unbelievable bargain. The location is perfect for people who like peace and quiet. When were staying there we made trips to Pompeii, Naples, and Amalfi and even though the commute time was a little long, it is cool because the bus ride is fun with alot of nice scenery. Our hosts Ana Maria and Paolo were two of the nicest people we met in Italy. There was a little restaurant walking distance from our room called Da Gigino which had awesome food and including the full liter wine we had with dinner every night was a good bargain as well.

I recommend hiking down to the beach by way of "Sentieri Degli Dei," the Path of the Gods. The trail is accessible from Beata Solitudo by way of a 10 min bus ride. Its a 3-4 hour walking descent down the mountainous coastline, with incredible views of the water and the towns below. That hike was by far my most memorable experience in our trip through Italy.

I would recommend visiting this hotel to anyone who plans to visit the Amalfi coast. We did not get bored after 4 nights, and I would definitely go back for another stay if given the chance.

We had a great stay at Beata Solitudo.. amazing views and the rooms are superb to say the least! Paul is an amazing host and ever so helpful.. we were dashing out and had no bus tickets, but Paul rescued us! tickets, itinerary, info.. the works! The rooms are spotless, air con, internet n everything u could hope for.. for breakfast they had an amazing spread for us but there was no rush of timings.. the only deterring factor would be the 40min bus ride from Amalfi to get there.. and the buses are never on time! But the view on the way does make up for it some :)

Room Tip: Private rooms are better for value than the hostel

This campground/hostel/hotel/B&B is delightful. Great staff and a beautiful location, although quite far from the beach. If you're planning on travelling to Pompeii or Gragano areas then this is a great location, but takes about 40 minutes to get to Amalfi from the hotel. We stayed in the B&B where there was a common room (great- internet & printer included), kitchen and a self-serve breakfast. The rooms were nice and big, overlooking the piazza...although they did have a weird stench. All in all, we had amazing time here, drank good local wine and met lots of cool people.

I can't say anything bad about this hotel, it has been a pleasure staying here. It is a beautiful building, the facilities are new and the rooms are spotless! Paolo (the owner) was very friendly and helpful, very hospitable!
I have already recommended this hotel to my friends and will continue to do so. Will definitely go back! The hotel is located in a small town, bus ride away to Positano, Pompeii, Amalfi, all locations are about 45min - 1 hr away .
Breakfast was amazing, and I was able to use the kitchen to prepare my own meals.
The locations is great to get away and disconnect, I did not want to leave.
Wifi worked great in the lounge area, did not work for me in the room.
Thank you Paolo for sharing this great location!

Room Tip: I stayed at a private room, definitely worth the money.

I don't even know where to begin. First of all-the kitchen is the size of a house and modern and clean-you can cook in it every night and save lots of money. The entire place is spotless, modern colorful and comfortable. The hosts are more than welcoming and have thought of every detail-from having bus schedules ready, to recommendations and letting you in for check in late in the night. Our room was highly affordable and charming. What other hostel would give you a heated towel rack in the bathroom or amazingly comfortable beds with modern lighting and a television? From the ambiance to the hospitality to the location-overlooking the cliffs leading down to Amalfi I highly recommend this place. Just note-it's pretty important to have a basic command of Italian to navigate the town, as this is not a touristy town in the slightest. The hostel owners can help you if you are like me and my friend-who did not speak Italian. However to go it on your own and get to town and order food in the local restaurants, etc. come with your best Italian!

Room Tip: Ask for a room not directly next to the church bells-which were going off every hour or more it seem...

Of the 10 days we traveled throughout Italy, this was our favorite place that we stayed. When we got dropped off in front of the hostel, we were a bit apprehensive because the building from the outside doesn't give much hint to how great the interior space is. We stayed in a private double room with our own bathroom. It was absolutely beautiful- a great mixture of the rustic original and modern renovations. The breakfast was unbelievable by hostel standards- cakes and yogurt and fruit and cereal. The large shared kitchen and eating area was great. In general , it didn't feel much like a hostel (At least the part we were in). There were several families and couples in their 30's and everything was very peaceful and nice. The only potential drawback is the location, especially if you are in the area for just a few days. To get into Amalfi or Positano or any of the other coastal town you'll likely want to visit, it means taking a bus or sometimes two (or a bus and a ferry). The location was nice in the sense that it didn't have the overcrowded tourist feeling of the towns right on the coast, but it was less convenient. Fortunately, the bus stop in San Lazarrro is at the piazza, directly in front of Beata Solitutdo. Overall, highly recommended.
