We spent 9 days in Agerola, at Vittorio’s house at the end of June, 2016 - everything was perfect. The place, the environment and the entire atmosphere were well above our expectations. But, the most memorable aspect is the hosts, we became almost the friends. Vittorio and his wife Doris are so nice and helpful people – I have never met any friendlier hosts during my over 20 years travelling around Europe - I am ready to write a short story about them and our staying in their place. Those who think that Agerola is far away from the coast and is not attractive place to stay are completely wrong. In my opinion, it is more convenient to stay in the mountains rather than in Amalfi or Positano which are overcrowded, especially, by Americans, and are well overpriced in any aspects (housing, comfort, meals) – the main attraction in this area is the coast and mountain walking – the beaches at the Amalfi Coast are not good at all – those who are interesting in sea bathing should look for other destinations. As an example, there is the Pizzeria, 100m from the Vittorio house, which serves a wide assortment of different pizzas – according to my taste, they are better compared to Brandi or Da Michele – two, probably, the most famous places in Napoli (not saying, that there is no need for queuing; and it costs only 5-7 euros). The other issue – don’t drive a car if you would like enjoy your holiday. We rented a car for two weeks in the Naples Airport – this was not a smart decision. Driving in the Amalfi Coast area is a nightmare; driving in Napoli is stupidity – we did it; it was challenging; I was under constant stress; it was a great relieve when I returned the rented car back without any scratches – but, it cost me some grey hair. In conclusion, take taxi from the airport and use the bus (all the one-way tickets in the entire area cost 1.60 euro) – enjoy your holiday.
