“Surpassed our expectations!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

Four days of the best service, the best food ever (thank you Maria), most beautiful views of Minori and the Amalfi coast. It can be a good hike to Minori and back, but then you are so ready for dinner! We got the half board, so we had dinner at the Villa every night, and had lunch in Minori.
Thank you Maria and Vincenzo for your warm hospitality. Hope to be back as soon as I can.
I can not give this experience enough stars, just so outstanding!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Camilla room. It was more private than the other rooms.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Villa Maria and I miss it very much! Vincenzo and Maria are so kind and welcoming and it feels very special to to be part of such a beautiful place. The food is delicious, all ingredients are freshly picked from the garden and even the hams are homemade! All rooms look out to the sea and over the lovely town of Minori, and are shrouded in a canopy of lemons. It is truly a paradise and excellent value. Yes, you must take quite a few steps up to reach it but you are rewarded with an unbeatable view.
Some tips: All rooms are spotlessly clean and equally delightful but, if you can, ask for the top level room on the sundeck.
Getting to and from Villa Maria: There is a Community Bus that leaves from the Basilica just off the seafront. This will take you to and from Villa Maria. A single ticket is 60c. Or, the walk down only takes 15 minutes (via a lot of steps).
Food: Simply outstanding and the reason why we booked here - to taste real Italian home cooking as recommended by Gennaro Contaldo (who grew up in Minori.) We ate here every night - you won't find anywhere better to eat nearby so don't even try! Drinks are charged extra. The wine isn't the best and is a bit too 'rustic' but hey ho.... Our meals were 5 courses every night. For example, we had: antipasti platter with hams, olives, cheese and bread; fried courgette flowers with scamorza cheese; homemade pasta (spaghetti vongole/ tomato and mozzarella fusilli/ shrimp and courgette); meat or fish course; homegrown peaches and Vincenzo's lemoncello to finish. It's a lot of food so be hungry!
We had already read so much about Villa Maria but our stay still exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by a smiling Vincenzo, who shared his enthusiasm for his wonderful lemon garden and made us feel welcome and incredibly lucky to have found such a place. Minori is a very local and authentic slice of the Amalfi coast life - the locals greet you as you walk by and it isn't overrun by tourists or tacky souvenir shops (as in Amalfi town and parts of Positano). Stay in Minori and please, please stay at Villa Maria!

This is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience! We were only able to stay one night, but wish we could have stayed longer under the lemon trees. Even with our high hopes (from all the reviews and press) they still managed to exceed our expectations. All the meals were spectacular, even our light antipasti lunch of fresh and grilled vegetables was full of flavor. The produce from Vincenzo's farm was really highlighted by Maria's cooking skills.

We will never forget getting picked up by Vincenzo in his four wheel drive jeep, and making the steep climb up the mountainside. We also did the climb on foot during our stay, and while tiring it's well worth the effort--you feel as though you are in the highest point in all of Minori, and the view down to the town and to the ocean is postcard-perfect.

Nadia, Danilo, Maria and Vincenzo are an amazing family team. If you are considering booking, there is no need to think -- Just do it!

Room Tip: If you are looking for more privacy, choose the one room on the top floor or a corner room. Otherwis...

Fantastic wiews to the sea from high above the little town of Minori-just some minutes walk uphill.
Cosy apartments with full-extras.
The kitchen deserves some Michelin-stars-the sooner, the better!
The owners run all the place by themself so the helping service from them is always surrounding you:Maria,Nadia,Vincenzo: I'll be thankfull to them forever for giving us a very friendly athmosphere!
Last but not least: the homemade dishes were the best we ever had in our lifetime!

Room Tip: All rooms they have are superb, you can choose any of them!

We stayed 3 nights in late May having had Villa Maria on our bucket list since seeing it on James Martin's Mediterranean cooking show.
I emailed through a request and confirmation was quick and secured by a single night's fee.
Villa Maria is high up above Positano so you can get there from town by walking (a big uphill walk), taxi (expensive), or local bus that leaves from near the main church at the waterfront (60c each). Once you are deposited at the roadside you have a big climb (about 700 steps) but so worth it and it helps keep the kilos at bay.
Vincenzo and his family are warm and friendly and each morning serve a lovely continental breakfast including homemade cake and for dinner ply you with 4 courses many include fresh ingredients from the garden. Their lemon grove is prolific so make sure your try their limoncello!
Our next four days were in Positano so we were glad that our first few days were in the quiet but welcoming town of Minori and with Vincenzo and his family.
Can thoroughly recommend for a B&B experience with quality food served daily.

What a location - but you have to do steps! Wonderful food, magnificent views, hospitable host - and the limoncello! This is a place you need to stay at to get the real experience of the Amalfi coast and its hospitality. Just wonderful. Recommend to anyone - who has the legs for the steps!
