5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

Just returned from a wonderful 10 day holiday split between Ravello and Sorrento (3 days) as a family of five, including 3 teenagers. We drove from Naples airport and have to admit it was teeth grindingly scary! However, from the moment we arrived at the Hotel Guiseppina we all relaxed and it was exactly as expected, fantastic views with the personal touch. The rooms with the balconies overlooking the Ravello scenery were like no other we had experienced, and we never tired of sitting whilst enjoying a bottle of chilled Prossecco to unwind after walking up and down the hundreds of steps to Amalfi and Ravello (my knees will never be the same!). On the first night 'Three tenors ' performed in Scala square free to all and we had the most perfect time. Both daughters swooned with the young mens good looks.Another brilliant jazz concert in Ravello overlooking the Amalfi coast brought another momentus 'good to be alive' 2 hours. Whilst a piano recital in Scala church provided an evening of perfect tranquility and relaxation, with ice cream provided by a local Amalfi ice cream van during the interval.
Initially we were in rooms 15 and 16 overlooking the hills, and on request the lovely Carla worked her magic and on day 3 we were moved to two rooms overlooking the sea view and the whole of Ravello.
This hotel was extremely clean, comfortable and homely and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The beautiful Maria served excellent croissants and coffee each morning. If you expect to be entertained and kept awake with loud music into the early hours then this is not the hotel for you! However, if like us you're looking for an excellent base with stunning views, peace and tranquility then this hotel hits the spot. We easily managed Positano, Amalfi, Pompeii from this base whilst allowing for time exploring the streets of Ravello and a few delicious meals and cocktails. (Recommending the spectacular view at Villa Maria in Ravello sipping a cocktail.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 had amazing views. Carla arranged for us to be moved as soon as it was possible to do...

We stayed here for a wedding nearby.
The Hotel is family run, and the Lo Pizzo family lived up to their friendly reputation, showing great pride in all aspects of the hotel, as well as sincere warmth.
On arrival we were greeted from the wonderful Carla ,which soon made us feel like home, making sure we had food and drinks ,as our arrival was quite late at night.
Our stay was wonderful .... the views, room, food and hospitality was excellent .
Our room was spotless, we had a balcony in our room overlooking Ravello, clean towels were supplied every morning and the room cleaned spotless by Maria and Bettina, who both took pride in what the do .
The terrace were you eat has a wonderful view ,the food is delicious ,Lorenzo and Cecilia Lo Pizzo take care of this aspect of the hotel and always made sure we were well feed and had enough espresso ,I must say they did not have an easy job with me, as I am really picky .
Cecilia always served us with a big smile and made us feel like part of there family.
Lorenzo will go out of his way to accommodate any food requirements .

If you are looking for a quite, peaceful stay ,I can truly recommend Villa Giuseppina

We have just arrived home after a wonderful stay in this charming, friendly hotel. From the very start, we were made to feel welcome by Enzo, the proprietor and the lovely Carla on reception. They both went out of their way to help us with our every need in terms of advice about nearby places to visit, transport and restaurants, whilst Cecilia and Antonio looked after us at the bar for lunchtime drinks, afternoon tea and fabulous Italian gelati! The family run hotel is comfortable with a gorgeous swimming pool and magnificent views over the valley to Ravello. Scala is a lovely village to explore and to go further afield was a delight - the beautiful towns of Ravello, Amalfi and Atrani just a walk or bus ride away and Positano by boat (from Amalfi). Restaurants we recommend in Scala include: Da Lorenzo, La Margherita and Dei Cavalieri.

Room Tip: Room 18 has a wonderful view of Ravello with a larger than average terrace to enjoy drinks and the o...

We stayed here off-peak, for a wedding held nearby. As we were soo early in the year, the pool and restaurant at Villa Guiseppina were not yet open, but the restaurant at the sister hotel, 5 minutes away, was excellent on both occasions that we dined there, with great food and stunning views.

The hotel itself was clean, we'll located, and the owners/ staff could not be more accommodating, even bringing us 'afternoon tea' one evening, after my husband requested a drink. Our stay revolved around a wedding, and there were multiple locations involved ( for pre-parties etc). The hotel could not have been more helpful with directions and parking etc. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and look forward to returning, as soon as we can, thus time hopefully in peak season so that we can enjoy all of the facilities the hotel has to offer.

This is a great 3 star hotel with reasonable room rates and run by the most helpful and lovely family who will always help with any request.
Our family had 4 rooms and found them lovely. It has a great pool, magnificent views, a top bar and restaurant.
The rooms are very nice and although some reviewers have said they were not happy with rooms or breakfast, we found them very good. This does advertise itself as a 3 star hotel and does not charge silly rates like a lot of hotels so if you don't get a hot breakfast every morning that is fine.
All 9 members of our family would love to go back to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone

If a spectacular view, a good swimming pool and sunbathing terrace are your only priorities, then this may be the place for you. If, however you want a decent room and a good breakfast, this hotel is to be avoided. During our brief stay, we decided to move room. In the first, there was a continual smell of drains and the toilet suffered from intermittent back-flow of material. Although the second did not have these defects, it was small and shabby. The legroom in front of the toilet was so limited it was impossible to sit on the toilet seat. The plastic seat was of poor quality, it was severely cracked and had already been repaired once. Given the price of the hotel, the breakfasts were mean- one croissant between two people- and any additional items such as an egg or an apple were charged as extras! The mini-fridge in the bedroom was un-stocked but would be switched-on for 3 euros per day. We discussed these matters with the management. They attributed the drainage problem to the weather: why then were some toilets in the hotel unaffected? They also maintained that their prices were very competitive for what they were providing. During our holiday, we stayed in ten different hotels in Italy- this one was the most expensive and by far the worst.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 7

From the moment we arrived after driving from Rome, we felt as if we were being treated as long lost friends. The welcome and advice we were given on what to do and where to go were excellent from all the family members. I think it's a shame that the Italians do not seem to diplay tourist information brochures, even in many of the tourist offices! We were advised on the best way to visit Pompeii and where to park to catch the train, as well as walks down to Amalfi (We lost count of the number of steps) and to Atrani and the bus back. The room, of average size for this type of property, with a balcony with wondrous views overlooking Ravello, was kept very clean. Not all facilities were open in early May, but we could request something from the bar. We felt so relaxed there we decided to stay an extra three nights. Breakfast was bread rolls, croissants and cake, with fruit juice, plentiful tea or coffee. You could request eggs, meat etc. at an extra cost, but we found it met our needs. The view from the breakfast terrace was perhaps the most picturesque place for breakfast anywhere. Meals could be taken in the sister hotel, 100m away. The choice and standard of food was very good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.
