a lovely way to pass the time when you need a change from the beach and pool is to wander around this beautiful garden and take lunch in the little cafe.

It is one of the most beautiful corners of the island and botanical gardens of Italy.
We went there with very high expectations and were fully rewarded by nature's beauty and the owners' genial vision and their deepest love for this land and for their respect for the place. An absolute must-see. You will be transported and enchanted and reinvigorated by such and so much beauty. There is also a lovely caffe with delicious cakes and afternoon teas served with grace at very reasonable prices. Do not miss this garden of marvel, it is truly unique!

In one sense reviewing this garden is a bit daft. could you review the Eiffel Tower ? or the Coliseum. Like these gardens both of the aforementioned would still occupy their place in the history of their respective spheres of activity even as total ruins. Fortunately Mortella is still very much in the prime of its life as garden as well as a piece of garden design history that has influenced current garden designers worldwide. Get there as soon as it opens in the morning and you will have the place largely to yourself for the first hour. Without crowds you will get a much better view and after all it was originally designed to be a private garden rather than a public space. The gardens face southwest so afternoons can be hot on the upper terraces. Good small cafe on site and the gift shop sells items with a bit more quality than many.

This garden is stunning.
Do you homework before you go to get a feel for the couple whose dream it was.
If you get the chance time it so you can attend a concert there - they have several throughout the year - we were moved by the whole experience.....make sure you watch the video that runs every hour or so - very informative.

There is few information about it, but we heard about it before reading about Ischia and we wanted to see it. It worth it because it offers a pleasant escape in the green nature. Loved the ideea to have a concert in the evening.
