Our hotel owner was genuine and awesome, especially his manner of navigating the short cut up the mountain to his family's restaraunt. Rooms are actually apartments with kitchens, bedroom, breathtaking view, large door that opens onto the Mediterranean, and a short walk to the quaint seaside village of Forio and grocery stores. The experience was made incredible because of our hotel owner's family; his 2 brothers, father and mother living up the mountainside and who made the trip one of the best we have ever had and why we have definite plans of returning.

My partner and I stumbled across this beautiful place on the island of Ischia after deciding Naples wasn't for us. This family run business will add to your holiday experience. As well as a hostel they have beautiful apartments at such an affordable rate, for those who like a bit more privacy. Run by three brothers, they will kindly take you anywhere you wish to go (free of charge!) and even pick you up and take you to the port to mainland Italy. They also offer a door to door (and back again!) taxi to their family run restaurant, at which the food was incredible and priced even better.
Ischia is a beautiful island, but our four day stay was made perfect by this family and their hospitality. Will return again without hesitation.

This was our second visit to Amerigo Colella’s small hotel and once again we had a wonderful 2 week self-catered stay helped by Amerigo’s willingness to transport us to and from the ferry and also to Casereccia (see my separate review), the family restaurant attached to his parent’s hotel Poggio del Sol. This year we were able to use a BBQ on our enormous balcony to cook toast for breakfast and grill fish (bought fresh in the local market) in the evening overlooking the Forio bay. We found a lovely baker near to Forio Port and had freshly-baked bread most days for less than a euro. We also ate regularly in La Rondinella on the beach at St Francisco (10 minute walk) and were well looked after by Anna and Pietro (see separate review). For the 5th time we returned to Dai Tu in Ischia (30 minute bus ride). This beachside restaurant (see separate review) serving excellent seafood is always worth the effort of getting there and the shops in Ischia are a good alternative to the more upmarket (and touristy) Capri. We arrived as the main Italian cycling race appeared in Ischia so it was a busy week for the first few days and then life settled back to the more leisurely pace we associate with Forio and Ischia. For the first time we did the 3 km walk from Fontano (50 minute bus ride) to the summit of Mount Epomeo and that was immensely satisfying once we reached the top as the views of the whole island from a height of 787 metres were spectacular. Worth visiting Augustine who owns the last shop before you reach the summit as he was very welcoming, speaks good English and sells snacks and refreshments to help cope with the climb. The buses on the island seemed a bit busier than usual presumably thanks to less buses as a direct impact of the euro crisis but at 1.90 euro’s for a trip of up to 90 minutes that’s a minor criticism. The daily cleaning, regular linen/towel changing, value for money, and high quality personal service from all we met more than offset that.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor with two bedrooms and small kitchen

The Colella family are incredible and the accommodations provide the perfect setting for a relaxing sun-filled vacation. The apartments have direct access to the water, a great sun deck, and the best coffee and pastries. Good for families with all the water activities available.
Easy walk into the town. The service is unbeatable. Eating at the restaurant fulfills anything you could imagine about Italian cooking. We travelled elsewhere in Italy and did not find a restaurant which exceeded the quality of the ingredients and the flavor and especially the price.

Nice clean hotel on the beach, in a perfect location. Close walking distance to the Forio center town. Bus stop nearby, free internet & a shuttle bus service. Also very close to Forio port. Amerigo was a perfect host, warm, welcoming & accommodating. I will highly recommend the family restaurant La Casereccia which is a short drive away. Will return this summer once again!

The Colella family made our stay great. Would definately recommend this place to anyone looking for ideal location in Ischia right on the sea front. Theres a bar downstairs where you can get breakfast, snacks, coffee or sun downers to watch the sunset from the platform over the sea.

From the first moment, we found this place and the staff to be beyond our highest expectations. It's located on the sea with access from a large sun bathing platform right next to the hotel bar. Everything we needed was in one place - no reason to leave. Amerigo kindly drove us to their family restaurant La Casereccia where we ate dinner every evening. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was friendly - the family was always available to answer any questions we had about the island or just to chat. They welcomed us like old friends. We will definitely stay there again when we return to this beautiful island. Next time we will stay for longer, one week wasn't enough.
Thank you Colella family!
Anthony
