“Amazing value in wonderful, charming, Spa Hotel”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

This place is quite amazing and it owes its 5 star rating to its owners who unbelievably helpful, friendly and charming. It is clear the owners love their hotel and their island. Their pride and care goes into everything at the hotel. The spa is utterly wonderful and cute. On the last day of our stay we were all the way back in the main city when one of the hotel employees pulled up in his Vespa looking for us. Turns out we had forgotten our passports at the hotel. This place simply goes above and beyond what is expected. If you get a reservation count yourself very, very lucky.

The hotel is not fancy, but is very clean and the welcome by all the staff and how they try and do everything they can for you makes this hotel the only one I would stay at when visiting Ischia. I had heard from other people staying there that they had stayed at larger hotels but they were so impersonal. There is a thermal pool as well as a "treatment pool" if you have been walking a lot. Our greeting started on arrival on a very hot afternoon. The phone hadn't worked when we phoned for transport from the ferry so when we arrived by taxi they were most apologetic and they asked if we wouldn't mind sitting out on the patio where we were brought refreshing drinks and a bowl of fresh fruit. Later on we were brought pastries. The dinners were wonderful and very filling. We were not only given our choices but samples of what we had not ordered so that we could try it. The tomatoes grown by the hotel were so sweet. The breakfasts had a lovely selection and you could order eggs how you wanted them. Included was homemade marmelade which was so delicious (I normally don't like marmalade!). They were doing their best to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Alberto and Arnaldo were constantly chauffering guests whether to town, the beach or an attraction. Alberto arranged a taxi tour of the island for us one afternoon, an all-day boat trip around the island the following day. We were travelling to Sorrento next and Alberto advised us of a ferry that went via Capri instead of Naples, without having to change ferries (I never did find it on the internet). Alberto even bought our tickets for us the day before! We have done a lot of travelling and have never experienced such personal service before and nothing is a bother to them. Ischia is a place where the tourists are mainly Italian and German so if you want a more local Italian experience, I would visit Ischia and most importantly, this hotel.

We spent 5 nights here and cannot rate the quality of care highly enough. The owners and staff gave 110% to make clients welcome with nothing too much trouble whether it was ferry ing to and fro in the taxi or providing fresh delicious food every day. The hotel had a relaxed atmosphere at any time of day or night and the thermal spa was the icing on the cake.
Thank you for helping to make our holiday memorable

If you are planning a relaxing holiday in a friendly hotel in Ischia then Villa Sirena should be top of your list. Ischia is a small beautiful island and the hotel reflects the personality of the island. From the moment we were met at the ferry port by Arnaldo who is one to the owners to the moment we were dropped back to the ferry port at the end of our 7 day stay we experienced a friendly warm service that also matched the professional service expected at a larger more formal hotel. Alberto, who is the other owner & brother of Arnaldo, runs the hotel so well that he was always available and accommodated all our requests without any fuss. Nothing seemed to be a problem for both brothers from late packed lunch orders to being dropped down to the beach or into town. Alberto arranged scooter hire at short notice with the scooter being dropped off and collected from the hotel elimanting any inconvenienece and gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit & eat. The hotel staff were all friendly especially the waiters Paolo & Pietro who ensured the restaurant ran perectly. Paolo was our waiter throughout our stay and he treated us like family, we got to know him quite well over our stay and shared jokes and experiences. Breakfast & meal times were always pleasurable. The food at dinner was what I would describe as "proper Italian" and always delicious & plentifull. You will not go hungry at this hotel as Alberto and the waiters also routinely serve a generous taste of the other items from the menu in addition to what you have eaten. The hotel has a great sun terrace with beautiful views and the 24 hr thermal pool in the basement is very relaxing. We had room 124, which has a beautiful view of the mountain behind the hotel and which is also next to the sun terrace. All in all I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel if you are looking for an "Italian Experience" and have since returning a week ago recomended the hotel & Ischia to many friends.
Thanks to all at Villa Sirena for memorable 7 days.

We spent 5 nights at this beautiful hotel in May,from booking to our departure everything was handled very quickly and in a friendly manner. We had requested a room with a balcony with a sea view, on arrival we were given a room with a balcony and offered the room next door the following day when it became available,it had a balcony with sea view and was lovely. We found the owners so helpful and ready to drive us to Negombo or the gardens of La Mortella or into town where we could catch the local bus. They also had bus tickets on hand which was a great help,it saved time buying them in town. We travelled on the bus quite a bit to explore the lovely island. Now to the food! Wonderful and so much, lots of variety and choices, the 2 young waiters were marvellous, and very helpful with advice about dinner options. It was my birthday during our stay and after dinner that night, out went the lights and I was presented with a birthday cake, such a sweet surprise as they must have noticed the date in my passport. We found the hotel to be one of the most cared for and spotlessly clean hotels we have ever stayed at, the owners should be very proud of the high standards maintained in every area. We especially enjoyed the thermal pool and steam room in the basement every afternoon after big days out exploring.
Thank you so much for making our 5 nights so perfect.

We had a very rough crossing from Naples and the children had been sick. We were met at the ferry port by Alberto. We had a huge amount of luggage ,as there were 9 adults and 3 children, together with prams, car seats and buggies. Alberto was was driving a small minibus but he was not in the least bit phased by the situation. He set about loading our luggage and he even hired a local taxi to make sure we all made the short journey to the Hotel Villa Serena together. It was all hands on deck when we reached the hotel as Arnaldo (Alberto's brother), Paulo (a waiter) and Alberto himself brought the luggage straight to our rooms, which were clean bright and a good size. Arnoldo then gave us all some coffee and pastries. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the brothers or their staff. The hotel has a fantastic health suite with a thermal pool complete with water jets, a hot and cold water treatment and a Turkish bath. There is also a hot tub on the roof terrace and lots of sun beds. Breakfast runs from 7am to the very civilised time of 11am. We had a table that the whole twelve of us could sit around inc. high seats for the children. This made meal times a real treat as we were all able to have a good chat and a laugh together. The food was fantastic. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, beautiful breads, eggs cooked whatever way you liked them, ham, bacon, cereals galore and mouth watering cakes and pastries. This was all washed down with copious amounts of tea, coffee and fruit juices. At breakfast each morning, Paulo would run through that night's dinner menu with us and take each individual order. They never once got a meal wrong. The food just kept coming and each night we had a taste of every dish on the menu. Our Grand Daughter, Saoirse, had her first birthday during our stay at Hotel Villa Serena. The chef made her a beautiful sponge cake decorated with fresh fruit and they wouldn't even accept any payment for it. The lights were turned off and they lit the big sparkler they had placed on the cake. The rest of the guests joined in with us as we sang happy birthday and we all had a lovely time, especially the children. The staff had great patience with the children and that really helped as, when the children are happy, everyone else follows suit.
I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful family run hotel. If you are thinking of a visit to Ischia soon, do not miss out on this Italian Gem. I'll take this opportunity to thank Alberto, Arnaldo and their brilliant staff for making our stay with them a pure joy.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. We will see you all again soon.

Michael and Gabrielle from GB.

This is an absolutely unbeatable hotel!

The staff really look after you and nothing is too much trouble. The food is fantastic and authentic local cuisine sourced from local gardens and suppliers. We were ferried from place to place around the island by the staff and found the locals to be very friendly. The spa is unsuitable for small children and pregnant ladies but is well equipped and very relaxing.

The rooms are small but well equipped and there are some fantastic rooms to be had on the floor we stayed on (rooms 104 and 105 have balconies, room 106 is larger than most). Each room is supplied with fresh towels and robes each day and they are spotlessly clean!

On our last day, we couldn't make dinner as we were leaving so the staff gave us a nice picnic to take on our travels. The staff make you feel special and at home at this GEM of a hotel. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so fantastic, we will be back again soon. :)

P.S. DON NOT BE TEMPTED TO TAKE THE HYDROFOIL TO THE ISLAND UNLESS YOU CAN SEE ZERO WAVES!
