Reviewed 7 August 2011

I am back 2 weeks to a rainy Ireland from a wonderful 2-week holiday in Hotel Grazia Terme (from 10/07 to 25/07) and I don’t think I’ll ever want to stay anywhere else. We had a fabulous stay here. Set in a stunning location with a terrace that has a backdrop of the gulf of Napoli from one side and the Epomeo mountain from the other. A totally relaxing stay a wonderful place to get away
from life and de-stress.
It has a great spa area, indoor thermal pool and equipped with gym area. They
also provide tennis court, bowling, pool area, table tennis and a beautiful bar area by the pool with Wi-Fi.
We ate almost all our breakfast and evening meals on the terrace and what meals!
The cost of the meals are included in the room rate if you choose half board, which is great value for money.
The food is absolutely fab even by Italian standards; particularly the insalate buffet, which was amazing and served by a wonderful staff of quite a few characters all delightful and helpful even with my spirited 2 year old boy. We had a wonderful room just 10 steps from the pool with air-conditioning and sky tv. Very clean and the staff would re-check if you needed anything in the evening, all very friendly and nice. In fact the hotel is blessed with a wonderful staff that just makes your stay memorable. The pool area is excellent with no shortage of sun loungers, thermal pools. The hotel also provides entertainment about 3 times a week after the evening meal by the main pool area. On both Saturday nights they had complementary drinks and finger foods by the pool before everyone had the evening meal on the terrace followed by a Gala show or an entertainer later by the pool.
The hotel is at most a five minute bus ride from Lacco Ameno village and the hotel provides a free shuttle bus service, with an average of 9 trips each way at various times of the day from ( 7.30 a.m. to 11.30. p.m.). They also will take and collect you from a local beach that you have free access to as a guest of the hotel (as Italian beaches are mostly private so you normally pay).
We met some wonderful people staying there a lot of them return every year. Its mainly Italian and German clientele but some of the staff can speak some English
and are always very helpful.
In conclusion I think all the trip advisor comments do not do justice to the beauty of the hotel and the excellence of the service. Even though I read the trip advisors before I book a hotel I normally do not write a review but I was so impressed by this
hotel so much I felt I needed to on this occasion. It is also remarkable the quality and professionalism of the staff and service provided. I still do not understand how come a place like Ischia is not so appreciated by English speaking tourists as much as Sorrento and Amalfi Coast or Capri, which is a twin island on the gulf. The place is outstanding and it is much more various, comfortable and last but not least so “ cost effective ” for what you get.

Great hotel far exceeded my expectations, am hoping to go back next year.

I have been to this hotel for the 3rd time and I hope to come back really soon. The different relax areas and the nice staff of the hotel made our holiday one of the best. I can recommend Hotel Grazia AND Covo dei Borboni Residence, here you can find two tipes of perfect relax in a beautiful surrounding. Thank you!

This hotel has the potential to be excellent, but is sadly let down by some of the staff.

Set in a stunning location, with an excellent pool; breathtaking views and no shortage of sunbeds, the hotel offers a lot to those seeking sunshine and relaxation. There are also numerous, albeit expensive spa treatments available at the hotel's treatment rooms.

There are several pools; one large one, which is heated with thermal waters and rarely crowded; an indoor heated one; a disfunctional jacuzzi and a "hot and cold" rock pool. There is a fine poolside bar (which sadly only serves German beer rather than Italian) and the "La Terraza" restaurant offers hearty local fare, with amazing views over the sea, and a very jovial pianist to accompany your meal.

It is worth paying the supplement for a sea-view, as fellow guests who did not have one were disappointed with the size and age of their rooms.

The hotel is located around a mile from the town of Lacco Ameno, and around two miles from Forio. There is a shuttle bus that runs to Lacco Ameno and back, sometimes via the Negombo spa, but it is quite infrequent, and stops around 6pm.

Sadly, the fine location and facilities of the hotel are tempered (with the exeception of the friendly poolside barman) by the surly and unhelpful staff. As most of the guests are German, few staff speak English, and those who try can only speak a few words. We were often either ignored, or met with disdain by the waiters at the dinner table.

If you stay on a half-board basis, the anti-pasti buffet selection is extensive and excellent, and well worth stocking up on, as the following three courses are "hit and miss," but - to be fair, are more often a hit than a miss. As mentioned before, the dinner was often soured by the grumpy waiters.

This was the only hotel out of the three we stayed in during our honeymoon that did not offer any champagne or gifts in our room, despite reminders to them that it was a special occasion. On another note, the room was large, modern, spotless and the cleaning staff were friendly (despite a rather unusual habit of knocking on the door at 6pm every evening to check if "everything was alright!).

On leaving, it is best to check your bill, as you will be presented with a massive list of digits, some of which are obviously "inflated," for example, we were overcharged for wine we had at dinner, and there were some spurious entries for the poolside bar.

To conclude: the Grazia is a fine hotel if you are looking for a relaxing time in the sun, with nice pools and "easy" dining. If you are seeking a more lively and friendly environment, however, it is best to look elsewhere...

When we booked this hotel, we were under the impression that it was a little closer to the sea but when we arrived, we found that we were about as far as we could get up the side of the hill. The shuttle to Locco Ameno stops running very early at 7 p.m. A taxi down to Lacco Ameno costs 10 to 12E each direction but it is really is the only option to get to any civilization. We are in pretty good shape but it is entirely too far to walk to town. A bus passes right in front of the hotel but the staff were not very helpful in offering any advice about the schedule or cost or anything beyond a taxi and we have yet to see any guests under the age of 65. If you do not want to see anything but this hotel, it is fine and clean, but if you would like to see any of the sites, skip it.

To say we were disappointed would be understating the facts. We were met by a staff that was lackluster at best. Not very helpful or accommodating at the front desk. The hotel is completely out of the way. A bad location for anyone who would want to go out of the hotel for anything. It is surrounded by a resdiential area high on the hill. It is far from the Porto, frankly the only part of the island worth being near for restaurants, shops etc. Once you get back to Lacco it's a $15 cab ride up the hill and down the hill. The hotel stops running it's shuttle at 6 pm which is not frequent either. We had an appointment to have him back us up at the beach and he was a no show. We had to walk about a mile to get a cab.
Frankly, for our group who were coming from the Antiche Mure in Sorrento it was a supreme let down. This is not a 4 star hotel. In fact, most of the people there are living in Naples and have come over for the weekend so it is not an international class of people. If you're thinking of a stop in Ischia, skip it!!! We came from Positano, Amalfi and Sorrento which was stupendous. don't waste your time or money here.

I traveled with 2 other female friends in late July for 2 nights. From the minute we arrived, we felt like second-class citizens. We were one of a few Americans in predominently a German and Italian croud. Only 2 employees spoke English to us. The average age of the guest was 60. Guests and staff kept to themselves. The room with balcony was very nice and clean. Air-conditioning worked well. Beautiful view. The pool was very attractive. Thermal "spa" was a heated pool. The spa services were very good. I had one of the best massages ever. People in the spa were courteous. The food was fair. The breakfast buffet had no fresh fruit and was filled with lots of carbs. Not what one would expect from a "spa" ennvironment in Italy. The dining room captain seated us near the kitchen, furthest table away from any windows and refused to change our "assigned" table upon our request. In effect, although the property had much potential, the inconvenience of the shuttle service, the behavior of the dining room captain, the 6 euros charge for towels at the pool (I kid you not!) and the just average quality food would prohibit recommending it others.
